Just visited for the first time and had a beef Sunday dinner and a j2O. By far the freshest and most tasty veg I’ve ever had. Good portion size as well. 100% highly recommend.

We had a great amount of drinks and this place didn’t disappoint, the staff were lovely and happy , always friendly towards me and my friends, the food was exceptional, the beef and chicken were cooked to perfection for me and my friends, there was too much food we had to give up and send some back ! I cannot recommend this place enough , the friendliness of the staff and the good atmosphere in the pub added to the great experience! Thanks again Goldfinger team !

I hate writing reviews that adversely hit a business's reputation, but in this instance, I really can't hold back. My father & I popped into the Goldfinger Tavern, Highworth, for Sunday lunch. We had the traditional Sunday roast (Beef for me, Chicken for my father) What arrived on the plate was unbelievably sparse. I had 3 very, very small "strips" of beef, with 3 basic potatos and a Yorshire pud. Some gravy and a few carrots & cauliflower in a seperate bowl (to share between Dad & myself). The beef was tougher than leather (honest) and to say tasteless would be an understatement. The potatos were ...potatos. Gravy was made from Bisto granules I think. I didn't bother with the Carrots or Cauliflower. My Dad had the Chicken (small strips again), which was only just marginally better. A coke each. That was it. £25.90. Hand on heart, I would not have paid £10.00 for everything. In fact, had I known, I would never have ordered this, even if it were "on the house". For what they give you (quantity & quality), this is the most overpriced pub meal I've ever had. By the way, the coke was fine. It's coke in a glass. I hope the owners here do something about their meals. This won't be the last negative review they get if the don't.

A large group of us had lunch together - food arrived hot, in a very timely manner with excellent service ensuring we ate together (something a lot of places could learn from!!!) The food was very tasty indeed. I would certainly go back again.

Very friendly staff and lovely food

Staff are friendly and helpful, all the vegetables were fresh and plenty of them, roast beef was cooked just right but could do with more on the plate and had many roast potatoes . Liked the gravy in a gravy boat.

The breakfast was really nice and she was willing to change the sausage and black pudding to something else that was gluten free which was really nice. Good value for money. Highly recommend the food. I also had a Sunday lunch which was really good to.

Me and my family decided to go out for Sunday lunch and we thought we would try the goldfinger as got new owners now but I’m afraid the food is not up to it standards the Sunday roast is the worst I’ve ever had for the price they charge we only had 2 roast potatoes each bits and pieces off beef I would say it mounted to about 1 slice gravy was like water and the vegetables well had 3 little bowl between use which contained 5 piece off carrot 3 piece off broccoli and some cabbage and 1 Yorkshire pudding and the pudding was not much better they can’t seem to make apple crumble..... I would suggest that they employed as chef that nows how apple crumble should taste and how to plate a roast dinner or even cook 1 we would not recommend this place to anybody to eat until it’s got better chef or cook

I wasn’t going to put a bad review on here as I thought I was a friend and would not have experienced the awful reception today at this establishment. I had privately messaged Sharon at 8-51am to say ( because I know she had issues with people who park in their car park and didn’t use their pub which I totally backed and understood)we would park in her car park as we were going to arrange my children’s dads burial at GL Evans undertakers and then come over to her pub for lunch 2 adults 2 children. £60 spent elsewhere! Oh and we hadn’t blocked access as accused as the pathway was clear! On arriving at her pub she shouted at the kids “we are not open”! It states on the website open at 11 to which she found the time today to correct no apology though! Then her partner richard and yes not a capital r as he absolutely doesn’t deserve one iota of respect ,then went on to verbally abuse and was totally out of order to my daughter regarding blocking access to her drivers side. Well all I can say and if you look back at reviews I’ve been thanked for supporting her, then is good luck! If this is how you talk to people who support you let alone other new people who might become regulars then you will not succeed and it’s with a heavy heart that I say this, as if you had just had the manners to private message me with an apology or just a few kind words after this incident then I would have put it down to stressful times and understood but you’ve had all night to do this and you haven’t! So I wish you all the luck as if you continue this way you are going to need it!

We visited to see how Sharon was settling in at The Goldfinger Tavern, Nice and bright pub with plenty of space to sit, with darts and Pool. Beer was nice, cheaply priced with friendly staff. No food yet but Sharon is hoping to do food in the very near future. Well worth a visit to welcome Sharon and staff to Highworth.We will be returning soon.

this is just to say that as of 11pm this evening the goldfinger will be closing its doors for the foreseeable future as the owners are leaving these premises.as an update on the pub it will be reopening on the 18th of this month with new owners

Sunday lunch for four adults and one child, reduced menu available so no steaks or gammon as they can't do those while doing roast meats ????? Roast beef dinner was disappointing,,tiny over cooked frozen potatoes, dry over cooked beef, distinct lack of gravy and no horseradish offered although other table we noticed had jugs of gravy and two bowls of horseradish just brought out to them,, bit of favouritism going on there I think, Sorry but won't be returning again

Good food, however, they were un-organised and have very low stock levels. The food came out at different times and didn't have most of the items offered, and tried to compensate with more of the stuff that they had. Very displeasing.

The food was average, but my first choice was 'unable to be made' I then chose a mixed grill, and as they didn't have any onion rings they just gave me more chips. My friend ordered chicken strips, which came about 10 minutes late. The service was pretty bad, I wouldn't come here again.

I booked a table for 9 people and a toddler on Saturday 2/3 for 4pm. We arrived and it wasn’t very buisy so we ordered our food, was not told there would being delay. After an hour we enquired as to where our food was, we got told it was being cooked, after another 15 mins Dan then actually applogised and actually went to cook our food. We finally got our food after 1 3/4 hours. It was over cooked and we had to eat it quickly as we were going to be collected to go to a party. At this point we had half an hour to go back to our hotel and get ready. Not great. Dan gave us drinks on the house as an apology and was great but overall our experience was appalling.

We visited for a Saturday lunch as our friends are huge fans of a premier league team and so wanted to make sure we found somewhere in Highworth to watch the 12:30 game with kids and food. Not many places do all three as it happens. The staff member who dealt with us was very friendly both when we checked the game was on and on our return. He reserved us a table about 3 free from the big screen which they loved. The food was plentiful and tasty and in good time. It was very good value. There are a lot of excellent country pubs around North Wiltshire / South Gloucester but they are not cheap. The Goldfinger was very welcoming and the food was good. We will certainly visit again as we live so close and they were friendly. recommended.

We had a wonderful meal on Saturday 18th. August at the Goldfinger, about a dozen of us to celebrate my birthday. Ian did us proud, all the food was excellent piping hot and well presented, everybody was well pleased. The table was brilliant, decorated with balloons etc, thanks to Bev, Sue and all the staff at the pub. Well done everyone this was a birthday to remember, THANKS !!

Went here late afternoon because food was served all day. As we went in we got a warm welcome from the staff who are very friendly and helpful. We sat in the garden and ordered the food... a short wait followed before we got ours and the for the price you couldn’t complain ... it was good food ... nothing flash and amazing but all simply cooked ... maybe the steak was over cooked for my liking but everything else was great. Prices are very competitive and the people and staff makes you feel right st Home and very welcome so much we now go at least once a week... would recommend to family’s or anyone looking for a bite to eat... even a snack buckets chips and scampi for £3 can’t be sniffed at ...

Had meal there with friends. Staff really friendly kids meals are a bit small ok size for up to 4yrs in my opinion but does depend on the child

After our disappointment in January we were invited back the following week, and I must say we were not disappointed this time, it was brilliant. Ian explained the problem, which was sorted very quickly. I have been coming here for the past 5 years and Sue for much longer and never had a problem, in fact Ian and Ross did a birthday party for Sue and it was outstanding, and I hope to be arranging one for myself later this year. Thank you so much Ian ,Ross and all your staff for your kindness and dedication in putting The Goldfinger back on top, where it belongs.......see you all soon

Four of us came for a meal on Monday 29th. Jan. 2018. It's my partner Sue's local, have been here many times, always good, not today though, food was just warm almost under cooked, other people we spoke to had the same opinion, Sue did speak to the waitress about it, we really should have sent it back. Very disappointed.

The Goldie is a pub with a busy schedule of events, a great kitchen and pool, darts and sport on two tellys. In the Summer they do regular BBQs, music, a beer and cider festival and in July their great garden is a fab spot to look out over RIAT at Fairford air base.

Have been to this pub many times in the past service and food has been good .Today 6/10/17 .service was not good at all we ordered coffee and food at 12mins past one .1.50 still no food ,the pub was nearly empty ,only two tables to attend to apart from us .we asked about our meals and were told about 5 to ten mins ,we continued to wait but could not wait any longer.I asked the assistant for refund,I said we have been waiting from 1.12 ,she said no you haven’t ,it was 1.21,we showed our recipe.and got refund .This pub is now green king lease ,I was told this by green king who I complained to ,I was passed on to another green king department and left message .no response .

Menu now identikit copy of the standard chain pub one. Even down to the inevitable pulled pork. Not so much genuine home made food. Having said that, they seem to be selling more food than before so the 'same as all the rest' approach is popular.

Got to the Goldfinger at 7:45. Told food not possible to order for 10 mins. Left it 20 mins. Went to the bar and the only thing available was a bucket meal.

Recently met at the Goldfinger to wait for our minibus before setting off on my friends Hen Weekend. We had ordered lunch in advance, but we were also surprised to have some extras laid on and all in all, we were spoilt rotten. Ian was a gem. Highly recommend!

Been here many times as Sue only lives a couple of hundred yards away. Excellent hosts, always go out of their way to help and give you a good time, we had Sue's birthday party here last year, it was brilliant, Ian & Roz did us proud, can't speak too highly of them, a great pub!

The food here was really really good quality .... majority home made and the staff could do their best to keep you happy ... the Christmas menu was interesting ... the homemade mackerel pate was fantastic if slightly under seasoned and the Brie Wellington with proper home cooked vegetables not over cooked or mushy was a delight ... then to finish with an apple tart I believe with nothing too much trouble .... really struggle to fault it

Called in by chance while touring the area, was made to feel very welcome by staff and locals..we both took a 3 course menu with roast beef being the star of the meal.realy enjoyed.would call in again if in the area.

What can I say. This is a great family pub, loads always going on. Bands, inflatables, BBQ . Nice friendly staff. Landlord and landlady are so kind and helpful. The food is good proper pub food. Overall a nice experience. Almost like home from home.

Overall a friendly place. Occasionally has beer festivals with an excellent selection of ales. Alot of them are of course Greene King as the tavern is owned by them.

The Goldfinger is a nice local pub which has really well run. Good relaxed atmosphere, good bar staff and an excellent menu of quality well portioned meals to satisfy and at realistic prices. Have eaten there on a few occasions and never been disappointed.

The people gave a very friendly smile and welcome as soon as you entered the Tavern/Pub. It was very clean and welcoming atmosphere. They only served Sunday lunch on Sundays. Yet you had a choice of 3 types, Beef, gammon or Nut roast. A three course meal was only about £10.95. My wife and I opted for the roast beef and a dessert with a coffee. The meal was excellent the dessert sticky toffee was to die for.
