Cabin Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Been here before. It’s a lovely spot and a nicely decorated cafe however today it was let down by a bad attitude from one of the women in particular. I had my dog with me and was stood at the door for some time trying to get the attention of the staff whilst I who were busy chatting to each other behind the counter to ask if I could bring my dog in. After a while I went in to ask. I was met with “well he’s in now isn’t he so I suppose it’s fine……what a stupid question to ask “For a moment I thought about just walking out but laughed it off- wasn’t sure if it was a poor attempt at being funny or just plain rude. I have since learned that it is advertised as dog friendly. I ordered some food which was good and came quickly but while I was eating it I could hear the same staff member loudly swearing (f that) as she described something that had annoyed her last week to her mate at work. The kitchen is basically right in the cafe so we could all hear it. I ordered another coffee but this never came. Couldn’t be bothered to chase it so I left after waiting 25 minutes for it. Like I say it’s a nice spot but is being let down by the staff.

Very slow service, very chaotic waiting ages for two coffees, also served a person behind me in the queue won’t be going there again.

I popped in here for a scone whilst in Crackington Haven. The young girl who served me. Was lovely. The food itself was fine. It was what happened whilst I eating my food that disgusted me. Some lovely young children rang the bell for the outside ice cream counter. They waited a while and then rang it again. From nowhere a member of staff shouted and screamed at them for pressing this. They had not been pressing it repeatedly and were well behaved children. I was appalled at this lady’s behaviour and attitude. She is certainly in the wrong job.

The staff are unbelievably RUDE, no manners whatsoever!! I was charged £10.50 for 2 fried eggs on one slice of sourdough bread and a small cup of dry baked beans, I asked for a slice of bread and butter and that cost £1.50 it was from a supermarket! Please do not eat here if you expect any kind of customer service or manners it’s absolutely shocking!!! We took our dirty plates up to the counter and said thank you, we were completely ignored by all 5 members of staff

Ordered a deluxe hot chocolate (£4.85) today. What I was served was anything but deluxe. Half a mug of hot chocolate, half a mug of wipped cream and a single marshmallow. Husband had a cappuccino which was served in a tiny tea cup and again cost around £4. Disgusting rip off. Whilst Crackington Haven itself was lovely and we'll be back to the beach, we'll be avoiding this cafe at all cost.

went here for breakfast as the cafe opens at 0900. Had a wait for food as the breakfast was freshly cooked using local ingredients as fas as possible. Didn't mind waiting as the food was excellent and the coffee was also very good. Cafe was very clean and is dog friendly indoors (it was drizzling when we went). it's a small cafe but there is a lot more outdoor seating than indoors. Would definitely go again.

Opted for the Cream Tea for two as displayed on the board outside - 2 scones, plain or fruit, jam,cream & pot of tea. .£8.50 . Checked the menu before ordering & was asked if I'd like additional tea. Thought this a little strange given that the price is inclusive of tea. I was told that the pot was for only 1 person . I have never come across this before with a " cream tea for two". Is it wrong to assume that the tea will be sufficient for 2 people ? I begrudgingly had to pay an additional £3 to ensure we had a pot of tea for 2 . I suggested that it was unusual & I do feel it is misleading advertising . Should they stipulate the tea is for 1 person ? The scones were also more bread like than a scone, crumbly & buttery . they were NOT . I was ever so disappointed. Think both the board outside and the menu inside should make it clear that although the cream tea is for 2 people the pot of tea is only for 1 .CRAZY !

Lovely spot for breakfast. Food was very nice. Freshly cooked & very tasty fry up. Good coffee too. Handily close to a decent size car park & a short stroll across the road to the pebbly beach. A very picturesque view from the cafe too with both indoor & outdoor seating.

A nice bite to eat before our cliff walk. Coffees & sausage muffins were lovely. Great service, nice outdoor seating area. Plenty of room for dogs. Highly recommend.

Perfect spot and perfect find ! We had a super lunch at the Cabin and the sun joined us for our stay. The beach was beautiful and topped off with an ice-cream after.

We visited the Café 3 years and for us, it was just as good as the last time. The owner is extremely friendly and for obvious reasons to those that visit, is vey helpful in where to visit at the opposite end of the world to Cornwall. The 3 of us all had something different off the menu including home made cake(s). All of what we ordered was excellent, The coffee was equally very good and the staff were more than helpful.

Disappointing experience after previous good ones. My friend & I placed separate orders. I wasn't offered a glass for my drink and when I asked for one I was given a disposable plastic one, which I refused as I was in a cafe and would expect a proper glass. The grumpy lady told me it was to save on washing up (so no thoughts on disposable plastics harming the environment then!) They forgot my friends order, then my Husbands dish came out and & I said thete should be a bacon bap too...the server just said probably and walked off. I waited for mine, and waited.....then I asked where it was and was told VERY tersley that my bacon was still cooking....bearing in mind I ordered it with my Husbands burger! Food was great. Staff attitudes not so much.

Just the best cooked breakfast with great coffee, doorstep toast and friendly staff. Nothing greasy or cheap about it, as can be the way with cooked breakfasts - and of course a fabulous view.

Awful experience. Staff are very rude and unaccomodating. The area smalls of sewage which is very off putting. Shame the service couldn't be better as location is ideal.

Much appreciated by locals as one of the few beach facilities in Cornwall that provides service all year round. Own beef and pork menu. Good honest gut filling food. Of course wonderful beach and scenery so much better in quiet winter when the the emmets have gone.

Went for lunch and a cream tea, food was great, good portion size. We got 2 huge scones each with the cream tea! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we was over charged (without us realising) one of the ladies came over to apologise and gave us our money back, very honest of them. Would highly recommend

Eleven of us turn up for cream tea and had the most delicious scones, cream and jam which were freshly baked. The staff were a so warm and welcoming. I can highly recommend having a cream tea here overlooking the beautiful bay.

Went in for late lunch. They stop serving at four, so we just made it. The food was fresh and very tasty. The sausage roll with pickle was very tasty. We rounded off with a shared cream tea, which was excellent. There is both inside and outside seating, so great for all weathers. On a Friday they have a pizza oven from five, till eight. We will return.

This is the most amazing beach cafe with incredible food. We have visited many times - the summer BBQs are a must - the beef is locally reared and delicious. Thus time we had the pork belly baguette and the pork belly salad. Both were enough for a main meal and were tasty and wonderfully cooked. We were even offered the bones!

Friendly staff in this beach cafe. Bit disappointed to find that a take away pasty is £1.75 cheaper than if they put it on a plate for you, £4.50 compared to £6.25.

Cafe didn't have many customers on placing our order my husband's drink & cake arrived, 30miutes later my sandwich & drink arrived so ate on my own. No apology there seemed to be no system as others got food before me ordered after me was just going to ask when girl said yours is next. Not impressed so no return on our return to Cornwall.

Stunningly good cafe. We both had specials - sourdough with hummus and roast vegetables and sourdough with avocado and bacon. Both lunches were delicious, generous and beautifully presented. Very friendly and attentive service too. Would definitely recommend.

As a restauranteur myself, I like to give credit where it’s due. This struggling industry is difficult enough without grumpy customers with a lack of knowledge, and the self belief that ‘the customer is always right’. Trust me, that’s just something that someone somewhere once said that had clearly never had to work with the general public. I found the service to be friendly (but not exclusive), efficient (but not rushed) and professional. I had the “famous” pork baguette. You know what? It should be famous! Served on a baked torpedo baguette, packed FULL of perfectly cooked pork, and topped with freshly roasted crackling. Hats off to the cook who clearly knows their way around a Rational. I also loved the use of apple and celeriac in the coleslaw, which complemented the juicy pork. I’m not a big fan of olives, but it was nice to see a proper dressed Mediterranean salad. I write this whilst sat on the terrace at the front contemplating the purchase of a rice crispy cake. It’s definitely going to happen. Definitely worth a visit. There’s a Weatherspoon a couple of towns over for those who don’t know their a#$e from their elbow. Thank you. R

I visited with my aunt on gorgeously sunny Saturday afternoon. We shared a cream tea - the date scone was THE best scone I've ever eaten! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The price was refreshingly sensible.

This clean welcoming cafe has a sofa conveniently positioned looking out of the window across the road to the beach and cliffs. We enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee sat on that sofa relaxing and watching life. Thank you

Most welcome refuge after dog walking along the cliffs. Hot drinks and food, and a welcome for our dog. Car park out side is very reasonable but expect it to be busy in the summer.

So not so much a review of the food as we didn't eat here today (but have done before and always fab) but we had a weaver fish incident and you were just so lovely, helping us with constant supply of hot water. So, it's a year since my last review of this place. Always willing to give everyone a dog's chance, I looked over the road to the other cafe and thought, nah, I'll give these guys another try - why oh why do I do this to myself? So, the bloke in front of me orders a takeaway pasty, he's given it in a bag straight from the holding oven and away he goes happy. I order two teas and a pasty with no side salad to eat outside - it's raining a bit but we prefer to be outside in these covid times. Not too many people in there, one other couple outside, how hard can it be?Ten minutes later, the teas arrive but for heavens sake, we waited another 15 minutes for the pasty. I would recommend that if you choose to ignore this review, order a pasty to takeaway, wait for her to give it you, ask for a plate, pay the extra £1 et voila - everyone's happy!I won't bother again!

We called there to have a snack , ordered two portions of chips and could'nt believe it , £6 , this worked out roughly to 10p per chip , a right rip off.

Others in my party had to wait over 40 mins for a bacon bap as bacon had run-out (we arrived just after 9 so poor planning). They were not informed of the delay until they asked, and no quicker alternative offered. Also kept waiting for their drinks when these could at least have been made earlier. Poor attitude then seen from service team ,no appology, drinks arrived with a frown, no offer of sugar for hot drinks, then when bacon baps finally made an entrance, the request for sauce was not actioned. Sounds petty but added up to a poor experience which was a shame.

Menu really small and didn’t have any jackets as wouldn’t be ready until 3pm! £12 for a crab sandwich that didn’t look great!! They made you feel like they didn’t want you there, almost stuck up. It could be a little gold mine if they had friendly staff. Social distancing was a joke, everyone coming in from all angles. Loads of people without masks!! Ended up eating across the road as stood at counter for over 5 minutes whilst the staff completely ignored you !! Overpriced and unfriendly

Walked straight off the beach to the bbq after seeing their FB post advising they had space. Ordered 2 rump steaks and sausage for our little boy. All comes with salad , coleslaw and roasted potatoes and veg. Perfect. Oh and part of eat out to help out!

Love the Wi-Fi here and I love of the people and friendliness of the worker's I love The View on the seats outside

I have been coming here for 17 years now and I have never been disappointed. We have a house here and always when we arrive could we get some supplies from Andrea, the delightful Kiwi who runs the joint. Food is all local and cooked on site, wide range of selection as well as superb Cornish Ice Cream! If you are a COVID-19 shielder then take solace that here standards are very high. Track and trace on all who sit indoors, everything wiped before and after use; makes one feel safe and relaxed. If visiting Cracky then I cannot recommend highly enough. Go try!!
