We started December in style with a fantastic Festive Afternoon Tea at The Grand Southport. The food was sensational, hand made by Callum King and his team. Because everything is freshly baked and prepared, they need at least 24 hours notice for bookings. You can see why; there’s an extraordinary level of detail in each individual item. What a wonderful way to eat with family, friends or loved ones. Take your time as you delve into a treasure trove of treats; it’s a tough choice to work out where to start first! The hand made fruit scones were superb, served with pots of Cornish clotted cream and Hawkshead strawberry preserve (we’ll let you decide which one should go on first…) There is a range of tastes and textures with the savoury items, which include: roast turkey with cranberry sauce; devilled egg mayonnaise and chives; cured salmon, caper berry and watercress tarts; cream cheese, mint and cucumber sandwiches; cranberry and orange sausage rolls; and parsnip soup. Real festive flavours and some big crowd pleasers. Make sure you leave room, because desserts are coming, and you won’t want to miss these. They include: lemon and blueberry posset; chocolate and pistachio delice; lemon and poppy seed cake; almond slice; and mince pie. Warming pots of tea are a great addition, or you can upgrade to mulled wine or Champagne. It’s all enjoyed in the beautiful setting of The Grand on Lord Street, a stunning 101 year old art deco landmark building which takes you back to the glamour of the roaring 1920s after the venue’s £5 million transformation. Festive Afternoon Tea is an elegant, indulgent, delicious way to enjoy the Christmas season in a unique dining experience.

We were in Southport for an annual friends and family get together. As one of our party was due to turn 80 in the new year we wanted to do something to celebrate while we were there so decided on afternoon tea. We booked the nostalgic in advance and have to say couldn’t of picked better. Although it was Christmas the staff there put up birthday banners and decorated the persons serving platter with a birthday message in chocolate. The afternoon tea was well worth the money and as it was cold they even added some warm chips at no additional cost. The service was excellent friendly and efficient. They made the birthday girl feel very special. Myself and another guest had popped into the tearoom next door the day before and have to say didn’t feel half as welcoming and it was very cold as the door opens directly into what was an old shop so we were extremely happy with not having the celebration there.I would highly recommend the nostalgic and will return when we next re visit Southport. Thank you so much to everyone for making it a really special afternoon

I come to Southport occasionally and am always looking for the best place for lunch and today my wife and I tried the café inside the Atkinson. I had a chicken and bacon wrap which clearly freshly made and with nice salad, together with a good strong espresso. My wife had a lovely tuna melt panini and americano coffee. Combined with very friendly service from all the staff, this made a great dining experience. I know where we will coming for lunch next time we come to Southport.

absolutely terrible.i had attended here with my fellow cronies the first thing i noticed you had no lavatory when i have a bladder infection and i can hold it in.The second the i noticed is my friend ordered donuts but the worker had forgot about the donuts and he weren't very impressed as he appears to have autism and adhd. The third thing i noticed that the chairs weren't up to standard and very unhygienisch as i have ocd and everyone kept on opening the door and it made me feel really unsafe and cold and the workers didnt wear gloves or hair nets and the prices we not reasonable and very unaffordable for a person like me.Thank you i would not recommend

The owner Owen Simmons took to social media to vehemently speak poorly about a boy with special needs who was getting fame on a PGA Tour post. He went on to brag about being “smarter than Kyler” and listed off the degrees he’s earned as proof. Owen also made false accusations that boy’s level of comprehension and ability to feel joy in life. It’s clear Owen willing to do whatever he can to make sure others don’t get fame and credit over him. Avoid at all costs.

I've been here a few times, and usually it's a great laugh. Its basically a night of terrible karaoke, which is always fun. However, my girlfriend was short changed tonight, by about 17 pounds. She did try and sort this out in an amicable way, though the bar staff were more keen on pretending to count the money in the till rather than listening to her. I'm fully aware that people can make simple mistakes and nobody is perfect, but the thing that makes us human is the ability to own up to our mistakes and not leave others 17 pounds our of pocket!Never the less, good karaoke bar.

I have been using Cafe Dale regularly since Christmas 2022 and I have never had a single issue. The owners are very polite, friendly and accommodating. The food has always been fresh and amazing. The customer service is better than you could expect. I highly recommend this place. I would be surprised if anyone had anything negative to say!!

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping down and around Southport and chanced upon O'Leary's Irish Pub and what a great find 👍. Walking 🚶♂️ in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here ,a relatively small interior, typical Irish 🇮🇪 bric a brac adorning the walls ,tv's to enjoy the sport, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room and despite the relatively small size there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a very cool pub indeed 😀. We were here on a Friday late evening, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we then ordered a guinness each, these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle, we payed contactless and just kicked back, chilled out and planned out the evening ahead while sipping our delicious guinness . My guinness was absolutely superb, thick, creamy and most importantly iced cold, a really good guinness, I would go as far to say the best served guinness in Southport, but thats only my opinion 😋. We both really enjoyed our guinness in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to O'Leary's Public House we were totally impressed. O'Leary's Pub is easy to locate down Cable Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 11am till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, 11am till Midnight. Sunday, 11am till 11pm. A cool Irish pub,if your in the area and in need of a pint of the black stuff most definitely well worth checking out.
