Nostalgia Tea Rooms in Sefton

We were in Southport for an annual friends and family get together. As one of our party was due to turn 80 in the new year we wanted to do something to celebrate while we were there so decided on afternoon tea. We booked the nostalgic in advance and have to say couldn’t of picked better. Although it was Christmas the staff there put up birthday banners and decorated the persons serving platter with a birthday message in chocolate. The afternoon tea was well worth the money and as it was cold they even added some warm chips at no additional cost. The service was excellent friendly and efficient. They made the birthday girl feel very special. Myself and another guest had popped into the tearoom next door the day before and have to say didn’t feel half as welcoming and it was very cold as the door opens directly into what was an old shop so we were extremely happy with not having the celebration there.I would highly recommend the nostalgic and will return when we next re visit Southport. Thank you so much to everyone for making it a really special afternoon

Whenever we can, when we hear about a new venue, we like to check out their menus first online via their website. We were very taken aback in December 2023 to find “Eat out to Help out” still being promoted on this establishments website given that this Government initiative actually took place in Aug 2020! Nostalgia maybe, but certainly not the best kind. To us it was just a (correct) early indication that this place is tired and lacking any real commercial motivation. Overall the food was ok, and the service above average, but you just get the feeling that the whole operation is just about keeping its head above water. The management/proprietors often respond to TripAdvisor reports, it’ll be interesting to read their excuses regarding their website.

What a beautiful tearooms, had a lovely Sunday Roast and it was cooked to perfection, the team working were so professional and caring. I had my 3 year old with me and it was lovely how the staff interacted with her and she loved it. Keep up the great work and we will be back soon

Absolutely gorgeous Christmas lunch , massive portion size all home cooked . Could not recommend anywhere else for a lovely Christmas meal , staff very helpful really impressed and will definitely be going back..

Had lunch hear today my partners bread was stale i had tuna with baked potato the skin was rock hard as if it had been in the microwave for to long so just ate inside of potato so went to pay told woman in charge ,the bill was over 20 pounds and she took 1 pound of i think the money meant more to them than the customer being happy will not b returning as feel as if we were ripped of 🤔🙄🤨

Booked afternoon tea for two and it was delicious. I always think there is never enough savoury food so was pleased to see a portion of chips and a bite size vegetable lasagne included along with the usual sandwiches. Plenty of different cakes (bakewell tart, swiss roll, brownie topped with strawberry dipped in chocolate etc and a lovely scone served with butter, jam and cream. All very fresh and tasty. Hopefully it won't be too long before we go again.

We had lunch today at this lovely tea room. Great service and a lovely lunch of prawn sandwiches, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam and a cup of coffee. Will definitely return next time we are in Southport.

It was a spookey welcome this morning to Nostalgia with the goules and ghosts who greet you as the restaurant is set up for Halloween. They even have a Halloween tree. The food was exceptional with quality products and I couldn't fault it. There is lots to look at and if you look forward to Halloween this is a must try restaurant.

Not as great as people said. Some friendly staff. Bit tired looking and not disabled friendly as upstairs. Not cheap for what you get.

Visited Nostalgia Tea Rooms many years ago, and were pleasantly pleased to find it still existed when we visited Southport, September 2023. We enjoyed our first time, and we were very pleased with the menu and service this visit. It's comfortable and civilised and the ambience ideal for enjoying one's meal.

So pleased we found this cafe, food tasted excellent, all fresh not processed food, plenty of tea in the pot. Atmosphere very relaxing & the staff were very friendly & helpful. So good we went twice. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely place,lovely food spoiled by poor staff. After an excellent main course we were ready to order sweets and coffees, however we waited for 10 minutes being ignored by our waitress despite trying to attract her. We called over another waitress who explained we needed to go to the sweet display in the middle of the room. We went looked, and selected our choice only to be further ignored for another 10 mins, so we gave up, paid and left.

A lovely experience at the Nostalgia Tea Rooms. Lovely home-made food served by delightful staff. Will return.

Visited for 1st time yesterday and was not disappointed. Unfortunately, because mum is in a wheelchair, we had to sit outside. Weather was lovely so was not a problem. Mum had the Tomato soup which was homemade, thick and delicious. My partner and I had the sandwiches (ham and cheese and egg mayo) both were very well filled and extremely fresh. Absolutely lovely. I managed to have a look inside the tearoom and it was stunning, like stepping back in time. Will 💯 be returning when we are next down. Thank you Nostalgia tearooms❤️

Did not receive same warm welcome as parties in front of me, and the lady in charge avoided me like the plague after I selected a table and sat down, after about 8 minutes, she sent her waitress to take my order! hence, no tip....

This is our First visit to the tearooms we ordered Afternoon tea it was delicious & very well presented would definitely go again. Also our table had a big breakfast that was delicious and a child’s meal very big portions was delicious.

Lovely food but unfortunately the additional 20% does make it pricey for a cafe lunch. Ordered a pot of tea but did t get a pot of hot water so only had one drink from it, little things like that make the price too high.

Went for lunch here last weekend. The full english was good. My partner had a jacket spud. No complaints about the food, just a slight delay totting up the bill at the till, but apart from that a good experience.

We ate breakfast here twice during our 2 night stay. This is a great place, breakfast was really good with a price to match. Coffee was great and there looked to be some lovely cakes available too. Lovely staff, definitely would recommend.

Came here on a very busy Bank Holiday weekend and although the staff were really busy their standards and attentiveness never faltered and as always the food and service was second to none and the cream tea afterwards is the BEST there is. Really well thought out, Completly covid safe, one of the safest places to eat, they wipe every surface, every condiment container, one way, the staff are switched on and on point. Especially in the todays climate. Totally relaxed. Good to see.

We drove from Blackpool and had a lovely meal today. My wife had the roast of the day and I Haag the steak and kidney pie. Both were cooked to perfection, the veg and chips also cooked to well, and served on a hot plate to make sure they didn’t go cold. We shared Sponge and custard for our dessert as we were both quite full. The one way system operated in the cafe was good and meant we felt safe. The staff were all friendly and knew how to smile! Looking forward to our next trip to Southport where we will definitely be returning to these tea rooms.

From booking the table to going home our experience was 2nd to none. The staff were all dressed to serve in the traditional uniforms which was a lovely touch. It was so hot when we visited yet they all worked so well with no fuss. The food was afternoon tea. We selected our sandwiches and drinks and were presented with a delightful array of sandwiches, cakes of delicious variation, quiche, scones with clotted cream and Jam. All washed down with a beautiful cup of tea. The management should pack themselves on the back for such a friendly efficient place even under pressure with the heat and social distancing. We all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning next time we visit Southport.

We booked afternoon tea in advance. We turned up one hour early as our timings had changed. The staff were accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful. You choose the sandwiches on arrival which is great. Everyone had fillings they liked. I highly recommend this tearoom. Some sandwiches had been eaten before the photo was taken!

Best Scones in the North West.We visit these team rooms every time we visit Southport abs and we have never been let down. The scones are light, fluffy and to die for and wife says the ham sandwich (she is ham connoisseur) is the best she has tasted. The staff are excellent and friendly and the atmosphere is just brilliant. If you come to Southport make sure you put this tea room high in your agenda. You won’t regret it.

Called in today for a snack. Staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining the one way system that was in place. We asked for a window seat and got a lovely one overlooking Lord Street. The food and drink are very reasonably and we decided to have a snack served by Amy who was ever so helpful and pleasant. After our snack we were not hurried into paying and watched the world go by from our lovely seat. We will definitely be returning there (we are from Blackpool) and look forward to meeting all the friendly staff and enjoying a snack or meal. Definitely the place to go in Southport.

We had an exceptional visit to the Nostalgia Tea tooms whilst visiting Southport yesterday.Spotlessly clean and really nicely decorated surroundings. The manager and staff are super pleasant and can't do enough for you to make you feel comfortable. We had a full English breakfast with excellent quality ingredients, outstanding home made mushroom soup and smoked salmon amd scrambled eggs.The tea was also great quality. In the new normal, they have implemented a very efficient one way sytem and queue for the toilets, which are sparkling clean. Loads of hamd sanitiser and tables well spaced out.

We had an early lunch. The food was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. They explained the new way to make our choice of food and access the toilets. We had a lovely relaxed meal and would definitely go back next time we visit southport.

We luckily found this place on 20th March (just pre-shutdown). We were 4 friends and there were few others in - obviously because of the crisis. Staff were very pleasant and dressed in stylish waitress attire. Had a good menu with some specials at reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch so much so that we returned later that day for the afternoon tea which again we enjoyed. We just hope all will be well for the staff and business. Hope we get chance to return sooner rather than later

My wife and I are regular customers of "Nostalgia". We have cream teas which are always delicious and generous. The service is friendly and very efficient. There are lovely views over Lord St. Well recommended.

We have been coming here for many years but today was not up to standard. There was no nostalgic music playing for a start, and the lovely waitress was new and not sure what she was doing. I ordered a breakfast with black pudding, breakfast came without the black pudding, so waitress went to get me some, also baked beans in ramekin were stone cold, so waitress took them back to get them heated up. All in all not as we have been used to, imagine it may have been taken over? We will perhaps be trying somewhere else on our next visit to Southport.

Don’t be put off by the tiny entrance leading to steps ( unless you have a disability). The room is on the upper floor and has pleasing decor. We were able to select gluten free brown bread ( many restaurants only have white). Our light breakfast was good and reasonably priced.

We are regular visitors to Southport but had never visited Nostalgia Tea Rooms. In the past we were put off by the uninspiring-looking steps leading to the Tea Rooms, but this time we decided to give it a try. Very atmospheric, nostalgic (great background music), and spacious room. Friendly and welcoming smartly dressed waitresses and excellent food and pot of tea. We had soup and sandwich which was spot on. We will definitely call in on our next visit.

My wife and I often have lunch here. The food is always good and the service is great. Staff are friendly and helpful. The chicken curry is always a favourite of mine and the scones are lovely.

Called in Thursday 21st August at 2.30pm hoping to enjoy tea and cake, but after waiting 7 minutes for someone to take our order we walked out, on the way out you pass the kitchen where we saw three young people having a good matter, seemingly uninterested in serving their customers.Needless to say we took our business elsewhere.Had to score this as 1 out 5 as trip advisor won't accept a zero score.

Recently went for afternoon in a party of 11 adults + 3 children. They brought out food designed for 2 adults to share one 3-tier stand and one for the 3 children to share between themselves.

My friend and I recently visited the Tea Rooms for Lunch. The food was excellent. The place was spotless and the staff were very polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble to them. It was a lovely way to spend a relaxing afternoon. Will visit again.

We only called in for a snack, but thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had tasty soup, and my teacake was dripping with butter! Other more substantial meals looked lovely, and there was a good variety on the menu at reasonable prices. If you struggle with stairs be aware that the restaurant is on the first floor and there isn't a lift.

I have been coming for over 20 years to Nostalgia tea rooms and the standard of food is always excellent. We always vist the tea rooms everytime we visit Southport. The service was quick and the staff are very friendly.

After a dreadful experience elsewhere earlier this was a gem of a find, great food friendly service with a smile , sumptuous food, fantastic. Highly recommend.

Went for brunch today and my mother in law got served toast with mould on it. I had already eaten my food before her mouldy toast got brought out, so after taking it back it took a further 15 mins for a fresh piece of toast to be made. All they said was that they were sorry and we wouldn't have to pay for the toast! Still paid for rest of food which we both had to eat while the other one watched! Very poor service and will never return.

We went mid aft for a light bite. Hubby chose a toastie, which was delicious, and I chose the carrot cake which was served with ice cream and one of the best I've tasted (and I've tasted many!) Service was good and very friendly. We were so impressed we went back for a cooked breakfast the next morning and weren't disappointed - quality bacon and sausage and all cooked perfectly. We will definitely visit again if we return to Southport - thank you

The food is consistently good and service excellent. The common food intolerances can be catered for. Service is excellent. This cafe lives up to its name and there is a lovely atmosphere. Also it is spacious.

Lovely little tea room however there are a number of steps to climb so these tea rooms are not for anyone with mobility issues. However I definitely would recommend tea and a sandwich which were both well presented and lovely x

went this morning for breakfast 9/3/19. i had full english and my wife had 2 poached eggs on toast. Surprising how few people can make decent poached eggs ,but these were perfect. If you want a dipping egg and the white is cooked .this is the place to go. Lovely strong pot of tea.nice sausage bacon mushrooms etc. nice atmosphere in here,very relaxing. will be back next time i am in southport.

here mid afternoon, peckish after a pleasant mornings stroll about the town. first time here for both my friend and I.on the first floor, corner, of a block of shops overlooking Lord St. bright as windows on two sides, it's nicely decorated with some art deco features and ornaments. I particularly liked the 30's music playing in the background, a nice touch. being 1st floor there is quite a staircase up to the place. ok for us but I could see it being tricky for some older, or more infirm persons.food-wise, I don't think all the food is homemade, only some. we both started with the pate, served with small salad and thick wholemeal toast, very nice. for mains, I went with the fish, chips, mushy peas and small salad. again nice, similar to the type served in chain pubs. my friend went with the Hawaiian bake. this did appear to be homemade. a large dish with a base of scalloped potatoes then layers of ham and cheese then topped with pineapple. this she said was lovely.my friend had ordered a pot of tea at the outset so finished her meal with a cappuccino. I went for the cream tea for one. the tea was excellent. my cream tea, a lovely, fresh baked scone, served with thick, whipped cream, not clotted and strawberry jam. beautiful.service throughout was friendly and efficient, and the meal reasonably priced. overall, a very pleasant afternoon. would certainly have no qualms in going back next time I'm in the town. . ,

We ventured in here on a bitter January day in search of warmth and sustenance. It’s a pretty little tea room with a sort of 1930’s feel to it, some attractive window views and friendly staff.However ... I have a particular loathing of melted cheese and specifically asked for the cheese to be sprinkled on my baked potato, not melted. When after a decent wait of twenty minutes my meal arrived, I found my rather small potato and meagre helping of beans completely drowned by a huge pool of viscous orange goo.I was reluctant to complain as I was with my mum and it would have embarrassed her, so did my best to eat it. But three mouthfuls were all I could manage - it was foul.To be fair, the cakes looked nice and if cake and coffee is all you want it’s probably a decent enough place. But for hot food I would strongly suggest going elsewhere.

I’ve been to Nostalgia Tea Rooms in Southport a few times with my boyfriend. We normally have sausage, egg and chips with sometimes chocolate fudge cake and custard for afterwards if we are not too full. The staff are friendly and are quick with our orders and food. However, a glass of milk is £1.65 and chocolate fudge cake with custard is £4.75! It’s a bit extravagant, but the food is nice. The only other fault is the amount of steps there are to enter the café itself.

Popped in here on a sat afternoon while me and daughter were having a Christmas shop .one hot choc and hotchoc with baileys very nice.service with a smile nice decor and calming background music will be visiting again im sure .

My family and I visit Nostalgia on a regular basis. The staff are so friendly and happy. They have a good variety of food on the menu.

First time visit, arrived too early for full afternoon tea as they don't start serving until 14:30, also needs to be booked the day before. Didn't stop us having a lovely sandwich and scone, had my favourite Redbush tea and was happy to make adjustments for my dietary requirements. Loved the atmosphere and decoration. The waitresses were in traditional tea room uniforms, very smart. Service was great, stayed a couple of hours to catch up with my friend and they were happy for us to take our time. Will visit next time in Southport and book ahead to have the full experience
