We called in here as the dog was allowed in and couldn’t believe what a little gem this place is. We had the signature dish of meat pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy. The pies were home made and the chips were what you’d expect from your mum’s kitchen. It was £6.50 each but came with a mug of tea or coffee and a homemade cake. We had the egg custard, also home made but there were others to choose from too. The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. The owner, (Andy?) told us his grandmother had started the business in the 60’s and they still use her recipes. So, two meat pies, chips, mushy peas and gravy, a mug of tea, a mug of coffee, two egg custards and two slices of bread and butter = £14! The cafe was basic but spotlessly clean and the service was excellent.

Cheap place to eat.... but food is really tasty ... home made pies n desserts ... can't beat it ... £6.50 for pie , chips , beans n gravy ... plus tea n a dessert Staff r real friendly and pleasantly helpful ... If I could give it a rating outta 10 ....it'd b 20....

Iv been here multiple times whilst working in area and on days out with family,the pies are the best as made fresh everyday and cracking breakfast always can’t wait to go back 😋

We came back it was just as good, The service was second to none and the homemade food was amazing , pies are so delicious and still amazing value for money.

What a fabulous place. Visited Southport and was recommended to visit as the pies so I’m told are legendary. I can heartily agree. The food was amazing and the service exemplary . Everyone was super helpful and very welcoming. Will definitely be back and thank you again for making our visit great.

Cheap & cheerful,fantastic homemade food,pies,cakes,pastries to die for.Only a small cafe but well worth the visit for breakfast & lunch.One of my favourites when I visit Southport.

Bloody awful place have been in a couple of times now, queued for 10 minutes whilst they make endless cups of tea so the customers have to carry them to their table themselves, on on my 30 minute lunch to get to the counter to be told I either couldn't have what I wanted or like today it would be 20 minutes for take out bacon on toast. The worst thing is, the guy serving is a rude individual who offers no apologies for the shocking service. They seem only to cater to the pie, chips and peas with a thimble of gravy Market, the chips look anaemic, and if you want a decent amount of gravy, they charge extra. Last time I went in and asked for chips and gravy and was told I couldn't have that, I could only have chips and gravy if I had sausages or pie with it.....WHY?? The place looks like it hasn't had a refit since the 60's. No customer service skills. My advice would be to take your business elsewhere, and I've gone back and told all my colleagues about the experience and none of them will be giving you their hard earned cash either!

Called for lunch with my wife, we both had his special lunch time meal deal, home made pie, chips mushy peas and a sweet with a cup of tea, the food was excellent, quick service and price fantastic, cannot fault.

What a lovely little find this place is. Great home cooked food and an absolute bargain for £6.50 for a full home cooked pie meal, cup of tea and a homemade cake. Staff are lovely and well organised for such a small place. I think this is our new favourite place to eat when we visit Southport again. People were queuing to be seated for the lunch time rush, so get there early!

Very nice breakfasts with toast, tea or coffee, all very clean and tidy Very friendly very much recommend here just up the road from Travelodge

Husband and I went for breakfast, hubby ordered full breakfast and asked toast and jam for me with( no butter on toast, )breakfast came then my toast swimming in butter with jam on top ,hubby took it back and Andy very rude said to husband should have asked for dry toast, hubby said I said no butter ,he took the toast of him, hoping to get some more toast but no , not even offered a refund . Will never ever go in this Snack Bar again.

Lovely breakfast staff were friendly

We were staying at the local Travelodge which doesn’t have a cafe/restaurant. However, we were delighted to find this small cafe just round the corner. Purchased fresh cut sandwiches and homemade cakes to take away and returned the next morning for breakfast. Delicious food cooked to order. Eccles cakes to die for and all the food very reasonably priced.

Turned up and there were 3 empty tables. We were refused service because only 3 out of 4 of us were eating. No other reason. Very poor service, very hostile attitude from the bonehead behind the counter. Also wouldn’t honour a request for just chips. I won’t be giving this place a 2nd chance.

Revisited Andy's after cycling in Southport. It was mid morning & pretty quiet but more people arrived as we were dining. Love the retro vibe of the place and people were very welcoming & friendly. Ordered 2 x meals at £6.50 each. Had one each of the meat pie & the meat & potato pie. One with mushy peas & one with beans. Both served with chips & gravy. For sweets, we had a cherry pie & an almond slice & couldn't resist another couple - a chorley cake & an egg custard. A cup of tea comes with the meal & we were able to change one of them to a Vimto. The pies were served piping hot with freshly-fried chips. We liked all the sweets esp the almond slice & egg custard. The filling of the cherry pie was nice & tart and there was a generous amount of currants in the currant cake. Overall, we enjoyed Andy's, a no-frills, friendly establishment!

Andys cafe i have been going here since the 1980s.its consistantly good food and a brill cup of tea the staff serve you quickly and its reasonably priced meat pie chips and gravy and cheese and onion toastie for the wife and a homemade egg custard One tea and Hot choclate. WELL DONE STAFF i don't need to sign my name they will Know my order

Typical cafe fare. The food was great and arrived piping hot. Efficient service with homemade pies and tarts which are excellent. There isn’t much seating as it’s quite a small cafe.

Never had a chance to eat in here. The boss was rude to my disabled husband and shouted at his service dog. Then sprouted lies when challenged. This man discriminates veterans and service dogs.

Our favourite cafe in Southport. Hubby loves their homemade cheese and onion pie with homemade chips, beans and gravy. A mug of tea plus a home made cake all just just £6.50. A lovely clean cafe with efficient friendly staff. It is cash only. But morrisons is a 2 min walk away cash machine n parking there.

Decent,old fashioned cafe. Food is home made and we both enjoyed our meals.

Just had Meat and Potato pie and chips at Andy’s Snack Cafe, which was delicious. The pastry is without doubt the finest I have ever tasted. The Cafe has been going since 1961. Certainly one of Southport’s hidden treasures. I give Andy’s 5 stars for the excellent service that they provide.

I have enjoyed coming here before and the welcome was very good. I decided to have the English breakfast with toast and tea and a bottle of water. £6.95 . As I sat enjoying my breakfast it started to get busy. To watch the a professional at work remembering all the orders with out writing it down. A few minutes later everyone got the correct roll and their teas and coffees. Well done and thank you.

Amazing! The meat and potato pie was savory and the pastry flaky. The chips are made in the Cafe and are cooked perfectly! Will definitely make it a "must visit" when we come over from Canada.

Went in whilst visiting Southport. The menu was ridiculously expensive and the place was a right sty. We considered not ordering food but had been out for a while and fancied a quick bite. We asked if they could do a sausage sandwich which we were told yes we asked if we could have it between 3 pieces of bread to which we were told a hard ‘No’ we asked if we could order 2 sandwiches and assemble it ourselves and were again told no. I don’t know why we couldn’t do that but the attitude the man had was ridiculous can’t say as the staff were sociable at all and very rude. All other customers were old so probably couldn’t here the horrible remarks the man working here makes whilst serving them.

I visited Andy's Snack Bar a few times whilst on holiday with my little one last week, always had service with a smile, tasty food, and perfect location in correspondence to where we were staying. If I ever go back to Southport, I'd definitely visit again

Andy's Cafe the full English breakfast beans,bacon,sausage, egg,he could do better with fried black pudding,mushrooms,and fried Tomato, I think it will do a lot better for your money the toast is plenty and coffee is very good.from Adrian

We recommend this cafe to everyone. Staff are great, food cooked to order so fabulous, pies are famous as well as delicious. Go and have breakfast or lunch or even one of their custards with a tea or coffee - you won't be disappointed!!!

We know it was 1pm, but asked for 2 breakfasts(it was what we fancied). Paid for them, man who was cooking was overheard saying "Breakfasts! 1pm!" + shook his head twice!!!! But it would have been ok to have bacon,sausage, egg+chips or beans on toast. But we didn't want CHIPS! WHATS THE DIFFERENCE - SAME FOOD??? Need to stipulate you can't have breakfast after a certain time, but you can have ALL the same food, just don't call it BREAKFAST!!! Three staff - no facemasks.

My family all love Andys as the pies and pastries are absolutely delicious! I even bought a selection of their favourites from Andys for my parents at Christmas, Craig at Andys was so helpful and made the gift just perfect, thanks Craig. If you haven't tried Andys yet, make it a new year resolution to go soon and support a local gem in Southport's crown! The highest recommendation 😀

Traditional, family run cafe which has been a favourite with locals and visitors "in the know" for years. Never lets you down....and the homemade chips are special.

Great breakfast staff lovely will recommend to anyone going to Southport. Apple tart best I've had lovely pastry and just the right amount of filling.

'Full breakfast' was anything but...small plate; one egg, two skinny sausage fair size bacon, beans - nothing else, that was it. Small and under whelming - overpriced for what you receive. Hard to see why it is so highly reviewed.

Stumbled across this lovely little cafe today when we came out of B & Ms,and looking for somewhere for lunch,love little places like this everything homemade we had the pie special with chips & peas,large cup of tea & a cake,£5:45 unbelievable value,delicious homemade pies,fabulous chips & my little apple tart was delicious.Also two lovely very friendly gentlemen running the place.We are here for 2 nights we might call in again before we go home.Very clean too.

We came to Southport on a day trip on one of the wettest days of the year! We discovered Andy's quite by accident. We had been to B&M and because of covid rules had to come out of the back door. We passed "Andys" and my friend asked if I wanted another cup of tea I said no! We walked to the front of the store and my friend looked over and said "OOHH they do home made cakes over there". We went back! What a friendly warm clean place it was and the cakes were absolutely delicious. We got a custard and an almond slice and shared them (because we couldn't make our minds up). Gorgeous!!! I took the same back to treat our coach driver. Only after we had enjoyed the cakes did we discover we could have had home made pie chips and gravy cup of tea and a cake for £5.45! I will be back!! There was also a varied menu if you were daft enough not to want to sample the lovely home baked food!

Been visiting Andy's for decades. Howard carries the mantle handed to him by his parents before him, traditional homemade outstanding fresh food, whether it be the meat pie, chips & gravy or the fantastic custard or cakes, you won't go wrong at Andy's! Keep up the great work Howard!

My wonderful mum always visited Andy’s cafe . She took me there . When I had my daughter we all went together . We have many happy memories of visiting Southport and they have always involved visiting Andy’s cafe . My mum always got a pie and egg custard to take home with her for the next day . My mum always said “ they make the best custard tarts ever “ I have to second that. Myself and husband always visit when we come to Southport and will be visiting very soon . It’s a family tradition that’s about 35 + years ongoing we love it . See you soon .

Today we went to Andy's Snack Bar for breakfast. It was the first time and we were pleased with the quality of the food (excellent tasty sausages unlike most places), great value (two breakfasts and two hot drinks for £9) and excellent service. The only thing that surprised me was that hash browns weren't an option on the menu but that is just a minor point. It is worth noting that breakfast is discounted by £1 per person before 1100 so if we had been 20 minutes later we would have had an extra £2 to find!

It is lovely and clean food is made fresh and made to feel welcome and it is value for money and the place I love to go when I am in southport

I`ve been a regular at Andy`s Snack Bar for 13 years and their standards have not slipped one bit in that time.They have a very loyal following - my Uncle has been going for 40 years!Whether eating-in or taking-away, the food, service & value for money are second to none.Family-owned and it shows. Spotlessly clean and with an eagerness to serve.It`s as if the staff know most of their customers by name!My favourite dish is 2 x fried eggs, chips, beans & cooked ham.All freshly cooked to order.The chips are beautiful - homemade in the traditional way. Such a rarity these days.And the homemade pies are excellent too. Meat, Potato & Meat, or Pork. Take your pick, they are all delightful.The prices are very fair.PRO TIP: park in Morrisons supermarket car park just 100 yards away - you get 3 hours free parking.

Handmade pies and pastries fantastic, thin yet crispy pastry baked to perfection. Excellent value Meat pie, homemade chips and mushy peas with gravy, tea, coffee and following by individual apply tart and egg custard (tasted just like mum used to make)Highly recommend this traditional cafe for cleanliness, friendly staff and edible food of high quality. Gets very busy we ate lunch at 1140 and by 1205 all tables taken. Good take away trade in pies and pastries also.

It’s been said in other reviews but it is a traditional cafe. Nothing fancy just good homemade, freshly cooked cafe food. Always busy so sometimes it’s hard to get a table.

Clean cafe with a good selection of traditional cafe food - we had full english for £5.50 - bargain and better quality than our hotel. It was all nicely cooked and not at all greasy.

Absolutely lovely place and staff. Not massive portions enough so you can fit dessert in too. All home cooked food. Proper chips and service with a smile. Across the road side on to B&M Bargains brilliant bit of shopping after parking in B&M Bargins car park £2 upto 4hrs excellent. You can shop then call at Andy's for a brew and a bite to eat. Very good prices. Other day got homemade meat pie (yummy) chips and mushy pies, mug of tea and a cake to finish £5.95 brilliant. Andy's a local so come on in and support our local businesses you wont be disappointed. Yum yum.

The pie and chips are the best ever, all homemade and the vanilla sponge is gorgeous but then all the food is! The café is so clean and the staff are all so friendly and helpful, I wouldn't go anywhere else in Southport. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed

Great to find the place is still open - brought Mum here as this is where she met my Dad back in 1963 - where it all began! Good British fare in a traditional cafe at reasonable prices. Pie n chips, full English breakfast and ham and cheese toastie.

It's like going back to the 60's. Chips, pie, mushy peas etc. Food ok if not a little bland, but in saying this it is very popular with the pensioners and is very busy.

Called in recently having not visited in many years. Very Impressed, very clean and fresh, great friendly helpful service. The frothy coffee is great and the food all very nice and well priced. Great place for breakfast or lunch and the service is very quick. Will be returning this week.
