Pudding and Pie in Sefton

As regular customers we decided we would not be disappointed to celebrate our 46 years of married together for a delicious lunchtime meal. Many thanks to the owners for the kind gesture which arrived as a surprise during our meal. 👍😋

I would highly recommend this place. The food was good and the service great I will come back again . Better than the usual place I go to

Nice spot. Cheap ingredients used. Nothing special about what was served. Need to take more care in the presentation of the food. Like slicing a sandwich, more salad one half of a cherry tomato isn't good enough. Not the best. Ordered a panini was a baked baguette. That's not a panini. Service OK. But not the best

When my friend and I visit Southport we always find time to visit Pudding and Pie for breakfast. It is so nice to sit on the outside seating in wayfarers arcade, looking at the lovely building. You can sit there too with your dog. The tables are clean and staff friendly. They made a real fuss of my friend's little dog. The breakfast was as always hot, and always the same standard. We always leave feeling we have had a really good breakfast experience and will be calling again when in Southport! And it's good value too, especially when you get the leaflet for 10 percent off food from a member of staff on lord street!

Firstly, the staff are brilliant. All the servers were really young, but they clearly take pride in their jobs and they're very polite and helpful and really sweet. We had a bit of an issue with one of our dogs whilst we were there and one of the waiters went out of his way to help us with clearing up after us and telling us that it was not a problem. I had the vegetable lasagne, my dad had the chicken lasagne and my mum had the quiche of the day. The quiche was lovely though I have to admit I have never seen a quiche and curly fry combo before. The chicken lasagne was packed with chunks of chicken and the vegetable lasagne was perfect; I have been craving a good vegetarian lasagne for months and this really hit the spot. The coffees were also really good. The only thing that slightly lessened the experience (other than entertainment in the arcade that was nothing to do with the cafe) was the addition of a TV screen in the 'patio' area outside of the shop where the dogs could sit. A couple of the tables were arranged so they were practically under the TV even though there was no space to sit under the TV, so we were somewhat cramped. The TV was showing a video of Lord Street, so I'm not really sure what the point of it was and I think the tables would have been much more comfortable without it.

Excellent food, with an amazing service, one of the best soups I’ve ever had. It was nice to sit out under the glass with the rain battering away on top.

As the weather for a change was dry with that ball of light shinning we went for a walk and lunch in Southport .Having been in this arcade on a few occasions we had never been to this cafe ,not sure why .Two smoked chicken and cheese paninis and brews it was delicious In fact it was that good we finished off with scones clotted cream and jam Couldn’t fault the food or the service or the location .its just a pity the arcade shops are mostly empty but don’t let that distract from going to this establishment

Very tasty lunch with a smile all the staff and owners very pleasant and the toasties and omelette was fantastic we even got complimentary chips which was a nice gesture we Will be returning

Morning out in Southport with family, thought we would try here as quiet and clean, ordered the club sandwich which came just bacon, cheese and chicken, no mayo, lettuce or tomato on sandwich and it wasn't even cut, also served with an abysmal side salad/garnish of half a cherry tomato and a smidge of lettuce. Maybe the cook doesn't actually know how a club sandwich should be? Any how won't be stopping there again

Terrific. Great value. Great quality and service. The food was served quickly and the heaters were a lovely touch. Added bonus the toilets were clean and lovely.

Return visit as not been to Southport for a few months. Have always had very nice food and value for money. Went for light lunch. Husband ordered tuna and cheese panini and I ordered cheese and onion sandwich. I was asked if I would like salad and I said yes please. Our drinks were fine. Lunch arrived. Panini was "ok". Sandwich consisted of cheese slices, onion and lettuce leaves. Side salad on both plates was one slice of cucumber, minimal lettuce and half a small plum tomato. Cheese slices were tasteless and hard on sandwich. Sorry to say, not very appealing and we were really disappointed with the food. Staff were very pleasant. Sorry to say, we will not be returning.

We called in for a full English breakfast. It was delicious we had two eggs and asked for all the eggs to be runny and well cooked bacon. We were not disappointed. Everything to order. Plus two sausages and thin slices of bacon, toast, mushrooms, baked beans and hash brown. It was £7.50 but worth every penny and we got 10 percent knocked off as they were giving leaflets out on lord street. We actually returned the day after and had the gourmet burger which was really meaty and filling. It was served with skin on fries another enjoyable meal with friendly staff and lovely surroundings in the arcade looked on by red rum!

We had lovely breakfast were given free chips on the house the drinks was nice and hot service with a smile the place was very clean

Looked forward to a nice dessert, we all ordered the sundaes with fruit cream and ice cream , marshmallows and sprinkles, looked nice when they arrived to be fair, only to find halfway down the fruit used was off completely rancid and fermenting, one of my friends hadn't realised this because of tastebud issues and had eaten the fruit but myself and my other friend instantly spat it out, I took one back in to the manager who wouldn't at first wouldn't come to speak to me instead kept sending out a young girl with messages, until I said I would report him for selling off products that would make people bill, he contradicted what the honest girl said that the fruit had been opened days ago, and he lied and said he only opened that morning but wouldn't taste it for himself, wouldn't recommend or ever go again for anything, all he did was reimbursed for one dessert to get rid of me not happy

Took ages to come as very busy. Went to ask how long. Just coming out. Order wrong on two same meals described with a French word. Other meals came out at same time so not prepared to wait for correct ones to be made so ate the chicken salad. Reported the mistake and he was sure he had ordered what we wanted not what we got. Offered drinks as a sorry, so 4 coffees and twenty minutes later nothing. Went back he saw me and repeated the drinks order to me. Drinks arrived. To leave us waiting that long as an apology was not good. Oh dear. Just short of two hours later we left. Nobody came to ask us was everything ok. The chap taking the orders never came to apologize for the wait for the coffees and to see if everything was ok. Oh dear

Called in here when our train back home was delayed. Lovely little cafe. Seems hidden away so definitely pop in and visit if you’re visiting Southport. We didn’t have any food but the menu sounded lovely.

We had two fish and chips and a chicken burger. The fish and chips were really nice, but the tartare sauce ruined the meals, it was like runny milk, such a shame

We were heading here anyway in the hope of lunch. Second visit, the last was before lockdown, we live 50 miles away. Last time we were here I gave a review which included 'someone here knows how to cook chips' - they still do - they know how to prepare and serve all the food here. Pudding and Pie is well worth a visit. Set in Wayfarers Gallery - omword, SO worth the explore into this beautiful area of Southport off the middle-ish area of Lord Street ( ocean side - on Lord Street ROUGHLY oppositeThe Atkinson). The staff are young but well up to their job. My Mum is a picky eater at 93 - also of challenged mobility in a wheelchair - crikey she shifted her food and was very comfy. We returned later today for a restorative coffee before the drive home. Many thanks. Pudding and Pie you were GREAT.

The staff where both smiling and helpful. Couldn't fault them for anything. The coffee was nice too with delicate artwork which you just don't get very much of these days. The food was alright, tasty, hit the spot, but not 5 stars. It lost out due to the lack of presentation, that and the mayo in my chicken mayo looking like it had been watered down and the chicken was cubed. Couldn't tell you what part of the chicken it was but it was still tasty. The atmosphere was delightful, cosy and somewhat clean. Can't say I'll come back for the food, unless it's for the breakfast, that looks amazing, but I will for the coffee. All in all a pleasent visit.

Visited today the setting is lovely , the food and presentation is nothing special. From the price and the setting I was expecting much better. There are lots better places locally than this

What an amazing little find this is.Its our second visit to this lovely cafe,we stumbled upon it last year,on our annual Easter visit to Southport, the food is so fresh and beautifully served ,the staff are really friendly and their customer relations are great please...

Really enjoyed our hot drinks and cakes in this cafe - my husband had a delicious chocolate and pistachio cake, and my coffee cake had a great flavour. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We'll be back.

Situated in the Grade 2 listed Wayfarers Arcade, Pudding and Pie is a lovely place to take a break for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon snack. There is seating in the main building and also under the barrel-vaulted glass domed roof, a light airy space....

four of us had lunch here , we had vegetable soup , and toasties , all very tasty. we also enjoyed the lemon gateau. the waitresses were friendly and competent.

We stopped off for tea and scones at this lovely little café in a Victorian shopping arcade just off Lord Street. We were quickly served our treats by a friendly member of staff. Will be back.

Delicious lunchtime meal, mushroom and steak pie and chips, all freshly cooked. Excellent service, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My husband and I would definitely visit again.
