4 of us ordered food, 2 jackets, 1 combi platter which all felt like frozen items fried and served with salad, not great but not terrible either. I ordered a cheese and onion pie with gravy as it was on the menu, I just said pie and pointed to it so didn't think to specify, 25 minutes wait later our food turned up and I got cottage pie put in front of me, they offered to change it for me but because everyone else had their food after a wait I felt obligated to accept it and it wasn't nice, the mince had clearly been defrosted as the mince beef clumped up. Felt really shitty eating it as I really fancied a cheese pie. The server hadn't bothered to clarify which pie I wanted not did they repeat the order back to us as the order was taken, poor customer service if you ask me. We won't be back. The venue was nice, the staff were friendly but oversights like this ruin the experience. Cottage pie would have been the last thing I would have ordered, I really really dislike it, but of course I'm too English to send it back. Nor did they offer to knock anything off the bill for the mess up.

5 stars simply isn’t enough. Perfect service. Every dish was incredible. So accommodating, friendly and professional. If you’re visiting Penrith like we were and are looking for somewhere to dine, trust me, go here. And make sure you ask to try their olives!

Had an excellent early supper, starters were beautiful, good selection, tasty and well presented . The mains, steaks and a roast dinner were equally good. Substantial portions and cooked exactly to our specifications. We had delicious desserts and everything was complemented by some very good wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef obviously uses quality ingredients and is extremely competent . Lovely ambience, delicious supper.

Wonderful food (may be a little too salty) We spend the evening delightfully enjoying a Friday night business meal. Starters were wonderful. Mains were excellent but slightly too salty for the price paid. That said, happy to try again.

Lovely country pub near the River Eden ,. The room was comfortable and the food was good , both for breakfast and dinner. Close to the motorway for overnight stop travelling to / from Scotland but good location for short or long walks alongside the river.

We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.

We experienced lovely service from start to finish. The bar area was popular with both walkers and families out for a get together. The thin chips are delicious. I reckon they are tastier than the fatter ones. We went for a lunch and it’s got a good range of classics as well as a selection of sandwiches and toasties. It was warm inside and there was no obtrusive music playing. It’s a great location and ideal for people walking in the area.

We had a fantastic meal at the Dog and Gun for our anniversary. The food and service were both excellent. It is a small venue but that adds to its charm. The front of house lady was amazing. She was down to earth and very generous with her time, explaining the menu and the wine choices for each course. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. There were some genius pairings that introduced us to wines we would not normally have tried. We enjoyed discussing which was our favourite dish, our favourite wine and our favourite pairing. I really don’t want to say anything negative but if I’m honest I’d say there was a little too much. (Did I say that out loud?). They could have lost a course or two and I would still be raving about it but I suppose that’s why it’s a special treat.
