Before making the hike up to High Cup Nick (must do!), we stopped in at the Pantry and Janice made up sandwiches to take with us. Lovely. Then when we came back down, a little weary, perfect coffee and home made sponge cake was waiting for us. Thanks for looking after us Janice.

A bustling little café in the heart of the village. Both my partner and I had the All Day Breakfast while waiting for the rain to pass. The best bacon I've had in years. Friendly service and free wifi.

AMAZING ALL DAY BREAKFAST! Called in with my dog today after walking Dufton Pike. The place seems popular with locals (which is always a good sign). Food was lovely and piping hot. The sausages and bacon were obviously locally sourced and NOT from the supermarket ! Very tasty thank you.

Great little spot for lunch! Really friendly staff. They are dog friendly inside or out and even had some treats and a water bowl. We order paninis which were great. They also had nice coffees and was really reasonably priced

On a long drive up to Scotland with parents decided to forego the delights of service station food and headed off the A66 to Dufton and the Post Box Pantry. What a little gem it is too. Parents had the breakfast roll which was stuffed full of yummy bacon, sausage, egg and tomatoes and kept them going for the rest of the day. Lovely views from the cafe as well. Very good value. Looking forward to our next visit when we’re up that way again

Good portions of food at reasonable prices. Made sandwiches to take away and they put a biscuit in there which was a nice surprise.

Wasn't sure what supplies this shop would have - intended to buy bread and milk but it is a cafe. Owner happy to make us up sandwiches to order, with a flapjack and fruit scone. She also let us have some of her milk (we were camping in the nearby site and had run out). The cafe was busy at 1030 and all day breakfasts were a popular choice. Excellent service and helped us out with emergency milk rations. Think the cafe is open 1000-1600 and closed Thursdays.

When you visit Dufton, do make time for refreshments at the Postbox Pantry (seating outdoors as well as indoors to enjoy the view) The small friendly cafe's nestled by the village green at the base of the Pennine Hills and near to/on at least three national cycle routes not far from Appleby. It's also on the Pennine Way. Dufton means "the farmstead where the doves were kept". It is mentioned in documents as far back as 1176 and 1291. Dufton has an artists weekend in July followed by the Fellside Agricultural Show & Sheepdog trials in August. The Eden Valley has many interesting walks and villages, including Morland - famed for its annual choristers camp which meets during the first week of August (7 miles from Dufton, half way to Penrith)

We popped in after a walk (two adults and two teens) - great find, friendly service, nice scones with proper clotted cream, and good cakes with a delicious pot of tea. Clean and well kept. Latte coffees better than one normally finds in little local tea shops. Worth a visit if passing by.

A very useful little stopping point - either on a long walk or a long bike ride. We were a group of 6 which slowed things down a bit... Lots of choice for people that eat bread & cake .... but not so for anyone needing to avoid gluten.

I called in whilst walking in the area a few days ago. A nice, cosy little place, but with extra seating outside. A simple cafe but still offering a good choice - the cakes are homemade. The 'all-day breakfast' looks attractive.

We were unable to eat at the Stag so we managed to get some food here. The best sandwiches and chocolate cake (we were unfortunate to arrive just after they closed the grill before closing time) so could not get a burger which i am sure would have been fantastic. Thank god for this place otherwise we would not have had dinner!

There were lots of cyclists here when we dropped in for brunch before walking round Dufton Pyke - I asked for the sausage roll, the waitress then checked whether I expected it to be sausage in pastry or a bun, I said I didn't mind which, she said they hadn't had the pastry ones in yet, but she could do one in a bun which I was very happy to have and it was delicious, meaty, herby sausage and plenty of it, set us up for our walk very well!

Called in here for breakfast at the end of a visit to The Lakes. Wish I'd discovered it sooner! Had a full English breakfast and it was excellent! Especially the bacon! We have stayed in Dufton a few times now and always make sure we visit here for breakfast! Janice is so welcoming and makes all the food from scratch, the bacon is amazing. She also makes the most delicious baileys cheesecake I have ever tasted,in fact we had some one day and bought more for the next day! It's a lovely place to sit for a while and chat to the locals who pop in here too. A handy little shop that sells souvenirs and bits and bobs of shopping. Thanks Janice, you really made us welcome and we can't wait to come back.

Having dropped in a couple of times now I highly recommend this place, the location is most relaxing and even more so on a nice day, where you can sit outside and enjoy the view across to Dufton Pike and beyond to the Pennines. The hot chocolate was more than welcome on my first visit with ample cream and marshmallows thrown in for good measure! The full English breakfast is fresh and clean with plenty of toast, far removed from your average 'greasy spoon' breakfast this one is complemented by locally sourced meat, I believe the burgers are also of a very high standard, I'm saving that for my next visit! Overall this is a reasonably priced pleasant little spot for any passer by or walker to drop in for a spot of refreshment and a warm welcome.

Stopped in one Sunday morning with a friend for a full english breakfast. Made to feel welcome and the food arrived quickly - two eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans along with a plate of toast. The food was clearly cooked fresh to order and the bacon and sausages were of high quality. Outclasses any hotel breakfast buffet and at half the price. Highly recommended.

Had an excellent early supper, starters were beautiful, good selection, tasty and well presented . The mains, steaks and a roast dinner were equally good. Substantial portions and cooked exactly to our specifications. We had delicious desserts and everything was complemented by some very good wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef obviously uses quality ingredients and is extremely competent . Lovely ambience, delicious supper.

While looking for food we stumbled on this lucky find. The Bothy is a very welcoming themed cafe, due to most other venues in Kirby Stephen only serving drinks that day the bothy was busy but we still received a warm welcome and advised we would have a wait, we didn’t mind so placed our order. The food was different, not the cheapest but absolutely delicious, the staff even though very busy were so polite and kept us informed of progress with our order. A bit more of an offer for children would be a bonus.

We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.
