Cosy Cup Cafe in Eden

Quiet little cafe/bakery. Good range of food. Popped in at breaktime for a cuppa & chat. Made us chuckle to see Scotch cream eggs. Apologies, we didn't try them, so we can not comment on what they tasted like.

They are lovely helpful staff at the shop and in the café and nowhere in Penrith can beat them in Penrith they are brilliant

Nice clean cafe in busy arcade, with polite friendly staff who all worked tirelessly throughout our visit. It was very busy so we chose to sit at their tables outside the cafe but soon discovered this was like a wind tunnel ( I do appreciate that is not the owners fault ) Because it was busy we had quite a wait for our drinks and an even longer one for our toastie but when they arrived they were well cooked, nicely portioned and hot. The toilets were clean and tidy and the tray bake I had was very nice too. I will come again, a bit earlier to try and avoid the queue and hopefully get a seat inside.

We really enjoyed our breakfast. Excellent value. Toast like doorsteps. All cooked fresh. Would recommend going Only one thing spoiled our visit and that was three mums and two toddlers. The mums were very noisy talking or should I say shouting to each other! One of the toddlers was banging things on the table constantly and never told to behave. I know it is very difficult with youngsters but the mums weren’t bothered about the noise, everyone in the cafe was looking at them and I do mean everyone! It rather spoilt our breakfast because we couldn’t have a conversation

What used to be a gold mine has severely gone down hill. Avoid at all costs unless you want to sit in silence. Staff are miserable & did nothing but complain about our little children, although tried to make this in a caring way stating that they “didn’t want them to get burnt” - although there was nothing for them to be burnt with when they were moving around the cafe as of course as parents we would of intervened had this of been unsafe. Our children are four & two and as expected can’t sit still in a cafe. Due to the attitude of the staff we felt like we had to keep our children outside in the arcade. I used to come to this cafe every single week during both my maternity leave & it was never like this. Coffee was weak and cake was mediocre. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Tucked away in the Devonshire arcade in Penrith is a cafe by the name of "Cosy Cup Bakery Cafe". What a little gem this is. Comfy, room to move, pleasant staff and, most importantly, good food . Not only good food but great value food. With not much time to spare, I chose a Ploughmans and what a meal it turned out to be! The menu described it as having ham, brie, grated cheddar, pork pie plus salad, coleslaw chutney and crusty bread and it was not wrong! Three slices of ham, a whole pork pie cut in half, a generous wedge of brie plus oodles of salad, chutney etc. Oh yes and the two crusty roles were warm. At £7.00 I would be amazed if there was much margin to be had. This, plus £3.20 for my Latte As I said, great value and well worth a visit, I shall certainly be back.

What a great find! Able to sit just outside doors with our dog- who is very spoilt with complimentary sausage! On every occasion we have visited staff are really friendly and welcoming. Food is freshly prepared gorgeous soup huge sandwiches with beautiful fresh bread. Homemade biscuits with your drinks. Can’t praise this place enough and visit every time we are in Penrith thankyou!

Lovely staff and the food looked warming and like a proper cafe. However the coffee we ordered for takeaway was burnt and had no taste.

A lovely cafe, deceptively large inside and with a lovely outdoor area overlooking the church. Friendly staff. We stopped for coffee and seeing the generous meal sizes we returned later for lunch. I have coeliac disease and required gluten free food. The lady taking our order, who I think also prepared our food, was very aware of the ingredients in their food and of cross contamination risks. The jacket potatoes were a great size, my wife couldn’t eat all of hers, and a good price. We didn’t want another drink having not long had the coffee, so were offered iced water instead, most welcome on a hot day. If we do return to Penrith we will definitely return to Cosy Cup.

Ah look it was grand, staff are nice and the biscuits are a nice touch, but it took 25 minutes to do a blt and bacon on toast, if your in a rush don't come here but if your having a blaise day, by all means come here just expect to be waiting

Excellent food, Excellent staff, efficient and very friendly. I had a gorgeous full English breakfast here and they were very kind to myself, my girlfriend and my dog :) Highly recommended.

Great cafe in heart of lovely Penrith town centre. Super friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended. The portion of cake was huge, enough for two!

Very tasty 😋 Very reasonably priced. Even though they currently have staff shortage they were very courteous and pleasent. The heart shaped shortbread was a lovely touch and delicious 😋 Will be back.

These have to be the friendliest serving staff anywhere. One even offered to hold a dog's leash outside the cafe whilst the woman ordered. Turned out slightly embarrassing as hubby was outside and should have been watching said dog. Anyhow, very clean place; really good food. very happy that we stumbled upon it.

Went here for a coffee. The place does not look appealing from outside but inside it was very clean, well organised. The staff were very friendly, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. There was a wide selection of drinks or foods available. I had a tea and carrot cake the cake was very nice and moist This is truly a hidden gem

Waited over 20 mins just for a panini to be brought out. Waitress bringing me my cutlery made a pint of putting a scented nappy bag on the table for my napkin when I was done - could also the strong chemical scent the whole time, no need for it. Won't go again.

Nice greeting on arrival, a clean place and quite roomy. Tables cleared quickly and cleaned well. A decent menu of various foods. Order at the counter and pay or leave it if you want. Served quickly with cheery staff and the food was very good, cakes good to. Decent portions, The baked potatoes and fillings were excellent. Good disabled access with clean and accessible toilets. In the centre of Penrith in a small shopping arcade. Value excellent,Try it.

Bobbed in for a quick coffee. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Family friendly, reasonably priced with a decent selection of scones / buns.

We were on holiday and walked around in the area. We stopped off at this cafe between 13.00 and 14.00 on a Saturday. Soup of the day was sold out. My husband had a tuna baguette with salad. This was freshly prepared and tasty he said. The rest of us had a tray bake or scone with tea. You have to place your order at the counter and the staff brings it over to the table. Staff was friendly.

We were on holiday and looking for somewhere to enjoy a cup of tea and coffee. We came across this delightful cafe in a shopping arcade. We sat outside on comfortable chairs. Our drinks were brought to us by a very cheerful young lady with a lovely smile. There was a delicious biscuit with each cup of tea or coffee. The biscuits can be purchased from the cafe or from the bakers shop just around the corner in the arcade. I needed to use the toilet. This was extremely clean. I can thoroughly recommend Cosy Cup. We did not have a meal but could see the delicious and generous portions being served to other customers.

Nice food (including quality cakes) and reasonably priced. The young girl that served us was really nice - happy, bubbly and helpful. In fact, all the staff were friendly, so there's nothing much to fault here!

Lovely, welcoming place, tasty, well presented, plentiful food. The ploughman's lunch would keep his horse fuelled too! Yum. The vanilla slices are Devine, but sometimes can't find a corner for one after the main. All is not lost, as they have an adjoining cake shop, so you can take home some goodies!

Now, when I say 'busy in a good way' I mean.. well, before going into a cafe for the first time you check through the window, and if it's empty and soulless, then you give it a miss. And if the windows are steamed up and it's sitting shoulder to shoulder, well, best leave them to it.But if it's just over half full with a choice of different seating areas, and it looks comfortable. Well, in we go.This place did have a friendly feel, from the welcome to the layout, and our choice of chairs included some soft ones with a partial view of the adjacent beautiful church.Tea and coffee were more than decent and the choice of cakes made it difficult to choose. Settled for a big slab of carrot cake and a date slice with no regrets.The counter and serving staff were great too. Actually, so was the price.It helped to make a nice day out even better.

I ate here at lunchtime today with my daughter and once again the food was excellent. I had the quiche and salad and my daughter had the ploughman's. Food was served really quickly and you get a large plate full. It was beautiful, we both really enjoyed it. Staff are always so friendly and happy to help with anything.Everything is homemade and you can tell it's all really fresh.Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Have a caravan near Penrith and since discovering this gem of a cafe have put so much weight on! Can thoroughly recommend the vanilla slices, you cannot get them like this anywhere else. As an added bonus coffees are served with complimentary homemade shortbread biscuits. The staff are so friendly and helpful as well. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Penrith.

I have been here a couple of times for soup for lunch whilst working in penrith, it's always very hot and freshly made, I've tried a few places in town and this is by far the best. The staff are very friendly and everything is homemade, the cakes look fabulous I can't wait to try them next.

I still laugh thinking about this place and what they serve as beans on toast. It.would be more apt to advertise it as bean toast mountain, never seen a plate so full of beans & toast 😂 Nice coffee, great food and fantastic value for money. Shame we were only passing through or we'd have been there most mornings for breakfast.

We visited here twice in a month and it has become our new favourite place to eat. Both my kids loved it my 9yr old daughter especially liked the sausage roll and ice cream she had and my 16 month old demolished his sandwich and biscuit, and I loved everything about the cafe it's cosy and inviting but with enough space to get a pram in, the food is top notch really tasty and reasonably priced, coffee is to die for (and that's coming from an occasional coffee drinker) and the staff are fantastic so welcoming happy helpful and friendly. The cafe is lovely and clean, great facilities and even colouring to keep the kids entertained while waiting for your meal oh and to top it off everything is homemade in the in house bakery (go round the corner and you can buy from the bakery to take home with you) so in all it's an amazing little venue and well worth a visit.

This place has such friendly staff and are always happy to accommodate. Fresh produce from the bakery attached next door. Tasty locally sourced coffee from Bruce and Lukes in Carlisle too.

Great, cosy tearoom, including outside seating situated within a covered Arcade, making it very dog friendly. Lovely wholesome food, locally sourced ingredients and baking. Friendly, helpful staff - nothing is too much trouble... all very reasonably priced - fast becoming a favourite place to visit every week.

Sorry it's very late..This is such a fantastic cafe for food and drinks...even a bowl of cold water for our dog...we have been a few times🤗 and we will certainly be back...such great value for money..and delicious...staff very polite and friendly.... excellent customer service...well done ladies 😉😉 my only negative...I WISHED I LIVED CLOSER TO YOU...!!

Amazing and best cafe in Penrith

Absolutely love this cafe! I go as often as I can and I'm never disappointed by either the service or the food quality. The prices are very reasonable, especially the ploughmans lunch which at less than £6 and is enough for 2 people, is an absolute bargain.

We ate lunch here. Seriously the BEST ploughmans ever! If we were locals we would come here again and again. Unfortunately we were just passing thru
