Lovely little local pub. We visited for an evening meal on Sunday just after the music finished. Great atmosphere.. food was good quality and good sized portions. Bar staff really friendly.

We choose this as a convenient dog friendly stop over on our way back from Scotland but it’s ideally located to explore the lakes as well. Lovely pub with exceptionally friendly staff even though they were very busy when we arrived. The room we had was lovely, clean and spacious. The only minor point was the background noise from the condenser at the rear of the pub. We had a meal in the evening which was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of a lively village location and the breakfast the following morning with local produce was very well cooked and just the start for a long drive home or day walking in the lakes if you are fortunate enough to be staying in the area. A great place all told! Definitely worth checking out for eating drinking and sleeping!

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast server was very jolly which was nice to see, and the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of breakfast beverages, tea/coffee, juice, etc. The room was lovely, with historic decor, beams, partial stone wall, and classic looking. The landing and rooms have interesting Tarzan wall art.

Parking was readily available and only a short walk across the road. Live music was available on the night ... which was not intrusive ... The service was very professional and prompt ... our orders were taken and was ready sooner than expected ... with generous proportions, well prepared and rather tasty. This was reflected in the pricing, yet not as expensive as the quality would suggest. Highly recommended and a location we're very likely to use again.

Turned up hoping for Sunday Roast for 4 plus dog .Very accommodating and friendly, but more importantly, the Sunday roast was five star..near on perfect. Meat tender beautiful gravy and vegetables were cooked to perfection... I think their trick was to offer just one Roast in this case beef..so all efforts were put into making this one of the best I have had in a long time..Thankyou

Beautiful Pub. Landlord very friendly, majority of staff very good. Had a few issues with our evening meal bookings, ended up having no charge for Saturdays evening meal, as no table available when we had already booked, same thing happened on our first night, but manages to squeeze us in. Breakfast Sunday was incredibly slow Breakfast staff on monday were not friendly, no reply to guests good morning just white or brown toast. We all commented that they were scary! However overall a good stay.

Took my wife here for her birthday meal. Was very disappointed the service is slow to pretty non existent. The portion sizes were small too. After our main course we were asked “do you have room for pudding?” Of course we still had room for pudding. The waiter was going to grab an I-pad but never came back so we left. Don’t think we will go back it’s a shame we really used to like the boot n shoe!

I make an annual trip to the Lakes for walking and photography. I always stay in Greystoke which is a lovely village and when here, I always eat and drink in the Boot & Shoe which is surely the friendliest pub in the land. Always a warm welcome, the beer is good, as is the food (great specials board every day) and when the weather is good, the beer garden is a gem. Inside, the pub it is cosy and welcoming, the whole place is 100% dog friendly and you are almost guaranteed to end up chatting with one of the staff, some locals or some fellow travellers. You must visit if you are in the area.

We had booked a table for 7.30pm when we arrived we were left to stand in the middle of the pub while waiting for our table, we were right in the way people wanting to be past us it was frustrating, we got to our seats eventually the seats were all ripped foam hanging out it was swarming with flys we ordered our food mine and my husbands was really my kids got steak they were so fatty they couldn’t eat it, service was terrible, standing at the bar just getting egnored. Paid £109 it wasn’t worth that amount of money. We definitely won’t be back

Brilliant food, I had the fish and chips and it was honestly probably my favourite I've had. Mrs had Cumberland sausage and mash. And even that wasn't boring Only issue would probably be space as it's such a tight pub. But definitely worth the visit as the size can't be helped. Lovely inside

We visited this pub twice whilst we were in the area and both times were not disappointed. We had the meat pie first time which was the best meat filling ever. If you don't have a big appetite there is a smaller piece which we had but was really tasty. The second meal was a jacket potato with chilli and salad and this was a really full and tasty meal. Would recommend this pub for the friendliness of the staff and the lovely meals.

4 of us ordered food, 2 jackets, 1 combi platter which all felt like frozen items fried and served with salad, not great but not terrible either. I ordered a cheese and onion pie with gravy as it was on the menu, I just said pie and pointed to it so didn't think to specify, 25 minutes wait later our food turned up and I got cottage pie put in front of me, they offered to change it for me but because everyone else had their food after a wait I felt obligated to accept it and it wasn't nice, the mince had clearly been defrosted as the mince beef clumped up. Felt really shitty eating it as I really fancied a cheese pie. The server hadn't bothered to clarify which pie I wanted not did they repeat the order back to us as the order was taken, poor customer service if you ask me. We won't be back. The venue was nice, the staff were friendly but oversights like this ruin the experience. Cottage pie would have been the last thing I would have ordered, I really really dislike it, but of course I'm too English to send it back. Nor did they offer to knock anything off the bill for the mess up.
