I had a ploughman's scone and my partner had a full breakfast, they were delicious.

Thank you all for being so patience with my children who were just raiding the book shelf & toy box. What a fantastic facility for the community, if only we lived closer we would be there all the time! This place is a must visit, if you’re in Appleby.

Just had a wonderful lunch at the hub would fully recommend. Home made bread and an excellent salad on side, struggled to eat it all.

We've been on holiday in the area for ten days and this was by far the nicest cafe we went to. Had the Mediterranean platter and it was really delicious, especially the homemade bread. Locally sourced ham and cheese, nice warm falafel, couldn't have asked for more. The staff were warm and friendly, and clearly enjoy working there, which gives the whole place a wonderful atmosphere. Great coffee too.

Fantastic venue for a coffee and cake break or even more substantial fare. But a pre loved book from the large selection for a couple of pounds which helps those not as able as we were . I loved it .

I've meant to go here for years and finally took the plunge, and I'm so glad I did. Eating in with friends and family, the food was awesome, the service was friendly and efficient without being over the top, and an atmosphere that is relaxed and unhurried. This is such an asset to our town and community, as well as a draw for tourists. It is always busy, and no doubt would still be even if it was open 7 days a week! The food is wholesome, so tasty and delivered with the warmest of service.

A lovely and helpful lady in the local gift shop directed me here. What a warm welcome. Design your own Breakfast was great and plentiful! Staff are really friendly. I would thoroughly recommend.

This is a place I regular visit when I’m in town. The food and service is impeccable and nothing is too much to ask. I particularly love the books and cafe approach as well as the fact that this organisation gives so much back to the community providing career opportunities for those with learning difficulties or disabilities. Keep up the good work!

Cafe has moved and is now a lot bigger. Called in for tea and cake. Very nice and good value. Book and gift shop nice, in same building. Ramp access, Disabled wc available. Steps between car park and entrance but possible to get round on the road.

Been here many times, great food. All prepared on the premises. Home made bread scones, cakes, salads etc. Everything fresh and served with a smile. Coffees, tea's. A great social place which also stocks craft products. Runs various courses from craft to breadmaking. A great place to take friends and make friends. Highly recommended.

Great community centra with cafe inside, the spacious nature can make it quite loud and more open than intimate. Gorgeous lunch and drink, absolutely amazing cream scone with ginger and rhubarb jam. Shame you have to pay for parking as well as the food which although amazing was quite pricey at £32 for a lunch for two.

Always a great day doing crafty things at the hub. Jayne is an amazing, super lovely host and her workshop tutors are the best!

Lovely setting, very professional, friendly service. The menu is rather different to the usual cafe menu, there is something for everyone. You can hire rooms for various functions.

Really has a sense of community, warm welcome,great food and nice atmosphere.

We popped in to see what was going on, came out 2hrs later. Enjoyed looking and purchasing from the craft stalls. Then had gorgeous feta olive oregano scone and cake. Lovely seating areas and table n chairs. Lovely lady in craft shop as well as lovely chatty tea room staff.

Where on this planet have you seen 'EGGY BREAD & BACON' on the menu? Well this place has it. As well as 'Make your own Breakfast' and lots of other goodies - sweet and savoury. Well worth a visit, even for the great historical images on the wall. Love it!

Appleby Hub is a lovely place to visit, you can browse the books on the shelves in the little craft shop, and enjoy the fresh variety of foods and excellent scones in the cosy tea room, well worth a visit. Extra points for friendly staff!

Aquí no hay 1 bolsita de té parsimoniosa en una taza de té, una generosa ración de té suelto en la tetera. Elegí la selección de Meze, así que desde el delicioso ahumado del Baba ganonsh hasta los sutiles sabores de los falafels, este fue un gran éxito. Mi nieto optó por el pan de huevo y tocino hecho por él mismo y el tocino curado seco, suena simple y hasta cierto punto lo es, pero hecho tan bien y con una pasión y orgullo que sería un tonto si pasara por ahí.

Ah, qué hermoso lugar es este. Ha cambiado mucho desde la última vez que lo visité y ahora tiene un ambiente encantador y acogedor: incluso había velas en la mesa y un cielo nocturno estrellado sobre nosotros.El servicio fue rápido y todo muy higiénico. El chocolate caliente parecía chocolate caliente de verdad, nada barato, y el bollo estaba delicioso. Mi madre incluso dijo que era el mejor bollo que había probado en un tiempo.Buena cosa.

I enjoyed a delicious lunch here for the first time today. A lovely relaxed, friendly environment. The food was delicious and would definitely recommend the Mezze. There was a craft fair on at the time selling local products which is apparently held once a month which was really nice to look round.

Sadly only open 4 short days a week this excellent place must not be missed. Superb food, wonderful service and great value to boot! What a great place, the food is so very different from the normal small town cafe, a whole host of meals cooked fresh and in-house with local produce. Called in today for lunch, what a lovely little place. Very popular with a real buzz about it. Very friendly and speedy staff. Nice varied menu, food was coming out Uber fast. I had a very tasty sandwich made with their own bread. Superb

They employ people from the Right2Work and there's employees with Down Syndrome etc. Lovely to see these brilliant people serving and cooking the meals and so on, they do a brilliant job.Lovely meals, reasonable prices and always very friendly and happy. If you love books they've got thousands of them for sale!

Absolutamente excelente lugar, excelente comida presentada muy bien y buena relación calidad-precio. El personal es as, completamente lleno cuando llegamos, escaleras meteorológicas pero nos encontraron un lugar, maravilloso. pero mimado por una pareja de ancianos que se muda de la sección de juegos infantiles donde se encontraba su mesa. dijeron que esa es la mesa que reservamos pero que podría haber sentado en otro lugar. Así que los niños tenían que moverse. Pensé que esto era bastante pobre todavía lo visitaría en cualquier momento en Appleby

On a cold and rainy day The Hub in Appleby was the perfect place to warm up with delicious home cooked food and fabulous, friendly service. The cafe was buzzing with locals and tourists having coffee or a meal - or buying (as we did) one of the hundreds of secondhand books that line the walls. The fact that the cafe is run by the community and is also supporting young local people with disabilities learn valuable life skills was definitely the icing on the cake!

Staff at the Hub were so friendly and helpful that it really made our 4 day stay at the Hub truly enjoyable. The lunch and snacks provided were delicious and thoughtfully provided, so that our team members could eat at suitable breaks in the day. The facilities provided were also excellent with easy access for all members of the public. Definitely use this venue again.

We hired rooms at the Appleby Hub for a public drop-in session and it worked really well in every regard. Staff were wonderfully helpful (especially the manager Sarah Jones) and the rooms worked really well for our events. We didn't eat in the lovely, quirky coffee shop downstairs but the food we were served was delicious, fresh and obviously home made.

We popped into this cafe on our way to the Lake District, we received a warm welcome and were seated in the friendly, quaint, little cafe. The children were delighted with the selection of books available to read. We had a lovely time. Thank you!

Wonderful food yet again and a great family occasion. Find out which days this is open and visit if you can. Food and service excellent - fresh salads, home made hummus, delicious soups and beautiful bread - what's not to like?

Such a happy place! It was busy but luckily there was a free table. They do take reservations but we weren't that organised. Delicious food and really warm hospitality. The portions are very generous so it's best to arrive hungry. We took some scones home and they were excellent too, with a touch of lemon I think, which was a really nice idea. I'll try that myself next time I make some. As a bonus, it's run by Oaklea Trust who do really good stuff meeting all sorts of people's needs and there's a very well organised second-hand bookshop around the walls of the room run by a different organisation.

You can not fault the hub for atmosphere, service or quality. It is a great asset to the town for all the facilities it offers. Unfortunately I am just not a lover of the type of food offered.Soup and scones excepted!

A local, I know most places around the area and without doubt 'The Hub' is the best place for lunch by a country mile. Exceptional food, beautifully presented by the friendliest staff you'll come across anywhere. To put icing on the cake you're also supporting a most worthwhile charity, really you'd be crazy not to visit. Everything is homemade from the cakes to the excellent scones, authentic Italian lunch (Italian chef), etc. etc. etc........ top quality tea and coffee........ and it's the most reasonably priced place in town. Quite superb, always busy with locals who know a thing or two about food.

I ate here with my mother. Good choice of salads and soups. Also there are second hand books for browsing and buying. Adults with learning difficulties serve the food with great skill and everyone makes you welcome. There're also beautiful crafts to look at and purchase on the way in.

My friend and I had heard great tales about the hub, so decided to visit and taste for ourselves. So pleased we did. We started with lunch. It took ages to decide, everything was sounding so good, they had such a brilliant choice, Unfortunately for me,, I M trying to follow a slimming world diet so settled for sourdough toast with mushrooms and tomatoes, my friend had a mini hub salad, with accompaniments. So far so good. Then we returned later in the afternoon for a coffee but we ate a very large ice cream sandwiched between two very large chocolate chip cookies. Delicious. But I hope my slimming world leader doesn t find out. Very highly recommended. Lovely friendly staff too and lots of books to look at.

Visited with family in half term and found the Hub fantastic, lovely freshly homemade food and scones, some very different flavoured scones all of which were enjoy, very welcoming but very specific about where you can sit, we were not rushed away after we had finished our food which is a welcome change to many other cafes in the area. Also a great plus point for me is it is very clean!!

My friend suggested we meet here, a first time for me but certainly not the last. I had a beautiful fresh salad including a zingy lentils mix ,Cuscus, hallumi and avocado. Served with tasty bread. So many other tasty sounding things on the menu. Very veggie friendly, lovely atmosphere. A real treasure of a find.

Walking round the town just looking for somewhere for a bite to eat , spotted a sign for the hub, total surprise to see what was available.

We visited after looking on trip advisor! All we can say is glad we did! Such a great thing they have going on! Place is great, food is great & staff are great! We had a sandwich and salad and it was delicious! Really friendly staff and the place is very inviting and warm! Go to the hub and you will not be disappointed!

Someone recommended lunch at The Hub and we weren’t really sure what to expect. We were treated warmly and shown to a table. The room was small and cosy and had a nice feel about it, bookshelves were on most of the walls with donated books to buy. The coffee was excellent and a good choice of soft drinks. We spent ages perusing the menu as there was such a lovely choice. The soup was excellent, the choice of sandwiches was varied, my daughter chose one of the specials; Greek salad and tzasiki wrap which she said was amazing, and the antipasto was also fantastic. We were very surprised but delighted with this little gem of a cafe and would definitely recommend.

We stopped in Appleby on our way to Scotland and a local resident recommended the Hub as we had our 11 month old with us. Great food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, clean and comfy and even toys for the little one to play with.

We owe our visit to the Hub to the kindly intervention of a young woman on the Main Street. She overheard us discussing food options and suggested going to The Hub and gave us the vital directions. We were not disappointed! We arrived before 12 but wanted a little wander through the town first. The friendly staff recommended reserving a table as they were likely to be be busy, and this indeed proved to be the case. On our return to our table we enjoyed freshly prepared food and home made bread, all with amazing flavours and textures. We especially enjoyed the glasses of elderflower fizz and real warmth and helpfulness of the staff as well as the ambience of the cafe. Well worth the trip to Appleby if only for this!

We had a very quick stop in Appleby on our way to Bishop Auckland and spotted the sign for this cafe on the high street which pointed down an alleyway. It was a very picturesque alleyway but no sign of a cafe, luckily we carried on and discovered it at the end and across another road. It is well worth searching out.

First thing to say is the staff in this cafe are so friendly, efficient and cheerful. Second is that the food and drinks we enjoyed were top notch, inventive dishes at a reasonable price -all 5 of us enjoyed everything we ordered - and thirdly the bookshelves walls are an absolute delight and in great order too, we all found a volume or two to our taste and they are so cheap..how I wish I lived nearby

We found this lovely place after following signs from the main street - like a magical mystery tour - and what a gem we found at the end of it! Inside a library of books (for sale alongside other local craftwork) there's a lovely cafe with really friendly staff and gorgeous food! We had an antipasta sharing platter, sausage roll with salads and a toasted teacake & ice cream and everything was perfect! Well done Appleby Hub :)

We found this lovely cafe by chance, by following a sign from the high street. The food was excellent, really tasty salads and sandwiches, lovely fresh bread. The cakes looked good too. The food was excellent value. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and as a community cafe it supports a good cause. Wish we lived nearby so we could go regularly.

My second review as places often have their time and then go downhill. This is not the case here. Top class service and food at every visit. As a family we have been in excess of 10 times since it opened. Amazing place, lovely food :)

Often pop in here on a Friday for a delicious scone with friends. Lovely cafe, love all the books (so do the kids!), everyone who works here is very friendly, scones totally amazing never tried anything else yet as I'm too scone obsessed but have heard very good things!!!

After attending the Art history Group lecture (absolutely Fascinating) at the Market Hall in Appleby, we literally followed the crowd to Appleby Hub. It is actually a community project used by a great variety of groups and classes. And you do have that feeling when you walk in. We were made incredibly welcome (despite not having visited Appleby for years). As it was so busy, obviously popular we shared a table with a group of ladies who also had been to the talk, and ordered a Greek platter for two. Wow couldn’t believe what we got an amazing generous selection of quality cheeses meats, breads Olives and the rest, which we struggled a little to finish. I am a little fussy and sometimes a bit stubborn. Having found the award winning Yard in Penrith I am often reluctant to go elsewhere and often disappointed but I have to say I will go back to Appleby Hub just to have lunch and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and try the rest of the menu, just need to find a reason to travel there to do this. This is definitely the place to eat in Appleby for lunch (not sure if they do evening meals or not). So thank you to those who made us feel so welcome and thank you to the cook for the lovely food.

We ate here last Saturday when we stayed at Appleby castle had a lovely lunch very fresh with good coffee and the cakes are amazing. Only drawback is you have to sit in a room full of books, all for sale for charity, which I couldn't resist so we came out with a bag full of them. Highly recommend for a light lunch.
