Beware of being overcharged There is a soup and sandwich deal add a bowl of soup to any sandwich We ordered 1 sandwich and two bowls of soup My husband was charged Full price because he didn't ask for the deal! When he quested this he was begrudgingly refunded but not the correct amount and the sandwich came without the salad! He was not told to collect cutlery an d was in the toilet when the food arrived I asked the waitress for cutlery as I am disabled and told my husband has to get it! My soup was cold as she was not obliging. My mobility scooter was next to me so obviously not mobile! Food was nice but I would never come back.

Great find, lovely staff, lovely food. Spent some time camping at Low Hollows and this cafe here was a find. By chance me and my friend located it while on a morning walk to a bus stop to take us to Penrith and we decided to take a stop by for breakfast and a sweet treat to go. For our breakfast we both got a sausage sandwich, my friend was catered for with the vegetarian version , no complaints◡̈. The Victoria sponge was perfect with our cup of tea later that day on the Ullswater steamers. Of course, on our travels back home the following day, we had to stop for lunch. We both had the pea and mint soup of the day. I had mine with a cheese scone for a smaller additional cost. It was delightful ◡̈. If you are not a local and visiting near Threlkeld, give this little shop a visit. Even more, they have a little gift shop section which is great for us visitors, shame I was in a little bit of a rush, but next time! The service is timely and one of the ladies working there recalled me from our first visit, lovely place all in all.

This was our last pit stop on our way home, wasn’t easy to find by car & parking is limited so possibly better to park at end of village & walk in as the lane to the side isn’t conducive to parking with ‘private property’ along a fair part of it! There were around 5 picnic type tables on the gravel then 4 tables on the elevated decking area with several more inside, we opted for tank 14 outside to sit and bask in the phenomenal views that the cafe affords you, the coffee was delicious & served quickly by a pleasant young lady. If you’re in the area, would definitely recommend you pay it a visit, there is a bit of building work going on to the rear that limits parking availability, intrigued to see what it develops into!

Came for lunch today and we were not disappointed. Was worried it might be busy as popular with walkers in the area but we managed to find a table inside and ordered our lunch. We ordered, two filled rolls and two hot drinks. Our food arrived first, then our drinks, a bit unusual but not worth worrying about, the rolls were fresh and very full and accompanied by a lovely side salad. We would definitely come back again, as I would like to try the open sandwich which I saw being delivered to another table (isn’t food envy terrible!). We are more than happy to support local businesses, rather than the big chains, especially as this supports the village hall.

Well, could not have been make to feel less welcome. If you arrive at a premises that shuts 40mins later, you know that a full blown meal is off the cards. We ordered coffee’s and cake, and then witnessed the most obvious displeasure from the staff. Slamming the chairs on the tables around us, sweeping under our feet (30min until closing) the slamming the chairs back on the floor, removing crockery from the table before we had finished, piling the staff coats on an adjacent table to let us know it was home time. I’ve worked in the service industry, I am aware that people want to go home, but you have to expect 15min over door shutting to the public. The attitude has led me to decide not to return, although the wares are good, the experience is key, very poor. Sad, it’s a usual for us, time to broaden our experiences of other places.

After walking the Keswick to Threlkeld old railway track we wanted to pay a visit to the coffee shop in Threlkeld. The actual coffee shop attached to the parish church look really nice. I ordered a cappuccino and an Italian hot chocolate (£7.10) Firstly the Italian hot chocolate had hardly no taste due to lack of hot chocolate and my husband actually said it tastes like it’s been made with water and 1 spoonful of hot chocolate powder. My cappuccino was not much better. So much so we would never go in again. Really very poor to use words like “Italian” hot chocolate when in fact it was like water. Just a rip off! So avoid and take your own hot drink in a flask.

The middle of winter. I come to Threlkeld every 2 weeks for work. Sometimes I go into the cafe. Today I feel the need to share my thoughts - look at the photos to see what you get for £9.05! I asked for an Americano with a very small dash of milk but got effectively a macchiato. It tastes awful because there's hardly any coffee in the milk! As for this bread bun, well... It's cheap and nasty bread. The ham is ok, the drizzle of mustard came from a catering pack squeezie bottle, like you have on your street hot dog. It wasn't cheap though - look at that picture, it was £5.95! Did anybody wash their hands? no! Take note caters, wiping your fingertips on blue roll is not going to kill germs. If you decide to use the Threlkeld cafe, you will have a roof over your head if it is raining but also, you will be sharing the venue with other foolish people who have more money than sense, and probably dogs in the summer when it is busy. More than anything, you will leave the venue knowing that the people working there are laughing at you.

The balcony could fit 5 empty tables for four but not me & my dry bike. Sorry but that was the last thing I was expecting after half a day on the bike ... I didn’t understand what the problem was, the coffee shop was empty when we arrived and only one other couple arrived whilst we were there. 4 of us ordered food, 2 jackets, 1 combi platter which all felt like frozen items fried and served with salad, not great but not terrible either. I ordered a cheese and onion pie with gravy as it was on the menu, I just said pie and pointed to it so didn't think to specify, 25 minutes wait later our food turned up and I got cottage pie put in front of me, they offered to change it for me but because everyone else had their food after a wait I felt obligated to accept it and it wasn't nice, the mince had clearly been defrosted as the mince beef clumped up. Felt really shitty eating it as I really fancied a cheese pie. The server hadn't bothered to clarify which pie I wanted not did they repeat the order back to us as the order was taken, poor customer service if you ask me. We won't be back. The venue was nice, the staff were friendly but oversights like this ruin the experience. Cottage pie would have been the last thing I would have ordered, I really really dislike it, but of course I'm too English to send it back. Nor did they offer to knock anything off the bill for the mess up.

We visited here for Sunday lunch after reading the reviews. When we arrived, we walked into a lovely, warm bar area with a log burner. Great, I thought this is what I was hoping for from a country pub. However, we were then led down some steps to a side annexe. The room where we were sat was absolutely freezing, my wife felt the radiator, and it was just luke warm. There were 2 other diners in the room, they like us were sat with their coats on. I asked them were they cold & they replied "bloody freezing". Our main course arrived and we ate it & left. From start to finish we were in the pub for 30 minutes, we had planned to have dessert & coffee's but it was just to darn cold to stay. When I paid the bill I told the server how cold it was, and she agreed. I asked to speak to the manager so I could let them know of our very poor experience. We spent £38, ate our meal, sat with our coats on & and felt badly let down by the Horse and Farrier.
