Popped into Saddlers to see what they had for a takeaway picnic lunch to accompany a long Pennine walk. Absolutely amazing choice of savoury mini-quiches, other savouries and cakes. Ended up with the Mediterranean vegetable quiche, the savoury Chelsea bun and a slice of Bakewell Tart. The quiche was delicious - lovely light pastry and packed full of vegetables. The savoury Chelsea bun was uniquely delicious - garlicky, buttery, cheesy and covered with a sprinkling of seeds. You must try this! I saved the Bakewell for later - and it was the best Bakewell I've ever had. Pastry just right - light, crumbly and gorgeous, with just the right proportions of jam and almond. The owners were lovely, there's a great atmosphere in the quirky and stylish interior, and when I'm next in Alston I'll be trying one of the breakfasts, which all looked delicious. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped off for breakfast as we were staying in Shap. Warm and friendly greeting to us and our dogs. Superb quality breakfast cooked fresh to order! Highly recommended

Lovely little set up here and my coffee was perfect, especially on a cold weekday morning before getting the train. Would definitely recommend to anyone, never mind just coffee tasting lovers. There was also such a lovely vibe with the music playing and warm set up.

Wonderful unexpected find in a part of Cumbria that is beautiful but with fewer tea/coffee shops than further westwards. The coffee van was as pretty as a country fair stall, right on Langwathby village green. Excellent coffee, and we took away our sausage bap for lunch up at Long Meg stone circle. Cheerful and friendly service, and much needed toilets available adjacent in village hall (this lovely area is a public toilet desert and I don't do hedgerows)

Stopped in for lunch and what a treat. Our food was delicious, the space is charming and the owner Simon was a joy to chat with. We will definitely pop in next time we are in Penrith.

Very good takeaway coffee. On our way into the Penrith Museum we passed this coffee ‘van’. The Museum didn’t mind us taking our drinks in as we looked around. A perfect pick-me up on a wet morning!

We visited Appleby for the day and as we arrived at the station someone suggested that if we wanted a lovely place to go for a coffee we should go to "The Hub" Well they were totally right .... absolutely fabulous food, service and atmosphere.....the homemade savoury scones were amazing. You have to go......

We visited here for Sunday lunch after reading the reviews. When we arrived, we walked into a lovely, warm bar area with a log burner. Great, I thought this is what I was hoping for from a country pub. However, we were then led down some steps to a side annexe. The room where we were sat was absolutely freezing, my wife felt the radiator, and it was just luke warm. There were 2 other diners in the room, they like us were sat with their coats on. I asked them were they cold & they replied "bloody freezing". Our main course arrived and we ate it & left. From start to finish we were in the pub for 30 minutes, we had planned to have dessert & coffee's but it was just to darn cold to stay. When I paid the bill I told the server how cold it was, and she agreed. I asked to speak to the manager so I could let them know of our very poor experience. We spent £38, ate our meal, sat with our coats on & and felt badly let down by the Horse and Farrier.
