Was meeting friends in Appleby and was going to James’ that was there previously to find it had changed name and ownership. We are all vegan and have struggled in the area in the past so I contacted Lilly’s to see if they could accommodate. The owners were lovely and made sure to have vegan cheese, sausages and soup in for us. They even opened the cafe on their day off to host us! Food and service was fab - my 8 year old declared his soup better than Gordon Ramsey’s! Lovely cafe and hope the family do well. We’ll be back next year!

Visited looking for “James’ Temptations” and found it had new ownership and a new name. Was not disappointed. Breakfast came with potato cakes and delicious sausages. Eggs were perfect. Sausages local and delicious, again perfectly cooked as was the bacon. Mushrooms done just how I like them with a bit of caramelisation. I have stringent breakfast standards and this more than matched up to them. Especially for under £8 in this day and age. Coffee was really nice. Mrs had pancakes and bacon which she was raving about. Owner said they also do US style BBQ in their spare time - would love to get my hands on some. Strongly recommend.

Proper nice country pub, friendly and welcoming, the food is bang on (we had 2x soup & 2 steak n Guinness pies .... yum) beer is spot on too, specially the Black Sheep .... while Jayne loved the Gins....nice big beer garden at rear. The rooms where spot on and all dog friendly...bed ready comfortable (slept well)....breakfast 2x full English with toast n coffee really nice sausages n bacon, eggs ... all cooked to perfection. Honestly can't fault place at all.....hell even the village is lovely and the walk up n round Greystoke castle is spot on. Wish we was stopping a second night, specially as I think there is some live music on a Sunday night. Thanks again Simon & Jayne (zues & thor) 22/3/25 - 23/3/25

What a wonderful find. Great service, food. Lovely atmosphere. They couldn't do enough to help you. The lovely bit was the pin board with vouchers. If you need a brew, for whatever reason, there is one there for you. Such a kind hearted gesture. Wishing you every success

Went with partner and 5-year old for Sunday lunch. Food and ale were outstanding. Manages be very relaxed, with great service, exceptional higher end food cooked and presented briliantly and also informal enough that they have a children’s menu and our young daughter was very welcome. Hope to be back again in the future. Best meal out of the last 12 months.
