We went for a couple of drinks before catching the train. Staff were friendly, beer was standard supply, toilets upstairs would be a struggle for anyone with mobility issues to get to. Will probably go again.

What’s gone wrong ? Used to love visiting for a coffee and scone after a walk. Today was a great disappointment as we received a warm scone which was obviously stale. The coffee was good but don’t think I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Wondered if it had changed hands. Must do better !

Lovely little pub with the best atmosphere. Massive shout out to Emily and Alfie behind the bar. Warm, welcoming and friendly throughout!!

Very limited gluten free options unfortunately, on arrival instead on going through what l could eat they just put a full allergens menu infront of me that l had to go through myself, when I went to order the man said 'everything is done in the same fryer but that will be ok won't it?' Unfortunately anyone with coeliac disease or an tolerance to gluten will know that is not ok so l just had goats cheese on toast starter as my meal, would not recommend unfortunately, I felt discriminated and felt embarrassed infront of my group of friends.

We enjoyed a lunch here eight years ago and were delighted to find it just as good as we remembered. The home-made sausage roll had to be cooked from scratch, which meant waiting about 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait. A good amount of meat plus some tasty filling on a very fresh salad. I had the salad bowl, which was really fresh-tasting and not drenched in commercial dressing. We enjoyed local ice cream afterwards. Oh - and there is a spectacular view of the lake and the fells from the terrace, as well as a fascinating house and azalea-filled gardens to explore.

The restaurant is very modern and spacious. We had a little dog with us and the staff were so friendly and welcoming to us. The food was delicious and the portions were bigger than we expected which was lovely for lunch. We ordered fish and chips, chicken in a basket and the lamb dish. As it was sunny they had the doors open so it didn't feel crowded. Would recommend a visit if you are off for a walk around the park or even the golf course next door
