We boxed clever by booking a table here in the restaurant for Boxing Day. Staying in the local area for Christmas this was our first visit here. Despite the hustle and bustle you’d expect over Christmas we found the establishment very welcoming and comfortable. It was busy but was adequately staffed and service was functional and punctual. We were a little disappointed there wasn’t an option for Christmas Dinner (our only reason for booking) but the menu and specials were good nonetheless. The goats cheese starter and the butternut squash soup were top notch. The pork main course was perfectly prepared. It is a quaint, traditional hotel in a tranquil, picturesque setting. If arriving from the north the trip through the moor is wondrous. So all in all a nice place to enjoy a nice meal.

Typical thwaits decor, didn't expect much from the food. However the food was fantastic. The cauliflower cheese was unreal. Abit too much cumin on the cumin potatoes though. Completely took away the taste from the pulled beef on top of it. None the less, I would 100 percent come here again.

Lovely little cafe near Rivvy Pike, very pretty gardens in woodland setting. Went in hoping for a light lunch, but was told food had sold out due to unexpected peak in business on a lovely sunny day (food being served to other prior visitors did look tasty!). Happy to order coffee and cake which were brought outside to us. Cakes were very tasty and staff were friendly and attentive. Thought the cost of £18+ for 2 cakes, a coffee and a Coke was on the expensive side, but otherwise a nice change from the usual cafes we stop by.

Didn't eat. Proper pub with real people drinking and open friendly conversation. The ales are particularly good and served by experienced staff. It is likely the oldest pub in Bury and parts date from the 1600s. Photos of the fusiliers and historical pics around the place.

My wife and I ate here on a busy Saturday night and the following Sunday. Staff were very friendly and service was very good, we did not have long to wait for the freshly prepared food, from a menu that catered for most tastes. The surroundings were clean, pleasant and relaxing in this traditional Inn. All dishes were well presented and tasted lovely. Brook house Inn ticked all our boxes, we won't hesitate to eat here again when in the area.
