Different meal than had before. Beef Stroganoff is different on an afternoon to a night. Different sauce and lots of tender meat when went on an evening. When went on an afternoon small pieces of tough meat and smaller portion with different colour sauce, yet same price.Reminded me of a microwave meal? £18.00 the same price too!

Didn't stay as was only one waiting to be served and waited over 10mins left when somewhere else on there occasions always takes long to get order

The bands who are booked at this pub are usually pretty amazing. As a big fan of live music, I can honestly say most of the bands I have seen at the Bay Horse have been rather brilliant. There is always a good atmosphere at the Horse, and the people and bar staff are really friendly. They all work very hard to keep the place going and make great choices with the bands they book. I've not really been disappointed yet and have been going there since maybe mid last year. Shame its not a bit bigger, but then it might lose some atmosphere if it was. New years day was amazing, as was boxing day. I've not had such a great time for years as last Christmas. Thanks to all the staff for making things work in the way you do. Keep up the good work.

No food yet but they hope to get food under way soon,if they do I will go to see what they are serving

Stayed here recently. Clean and comfortable, and looked recently refurbed. Had dinner in the bar. I'm gluten-free and they were happy to talk through options. Food was reasonable, not that many beer options and only one cider. Very helpful and friendly staff and it's clear they are trying to build on something.

Excellent service from our waiter ELLA who was very attentive and polite overall a nice friendly atmosphere would definitely recommend and will certainly be back again.

Booked an Afternoon tea for me and my mother. Staff were a bit too quick to ask for our order (we hadn't set down) and when the coffee arrived it was cold. The response of "well it isn't normally" was hardly likely to get a favorable response. Were we lying? It bloody well was today!! Staff didn't appear overly keen to be there, ok I'm sure maybe they'd rather be somewhere else but they could at least look a bit happier. A shame as it's a wonderful venue

Cinco de nosotros reservado para una cena del sábado por la noche. El pub no estaba particularmente ocupado, pero la comida cuando finalmente (después de 45 minutos) llegó fue una completa decepción. El entrante Camembert al horno no tenía sabor - no se había añadido nada para mejorarlo y se sirvió con rebanadas de pan. Muy extraño. La lingüística del niño no era lingüística, sino tiras gruesas de pasta - cuando señalamos esto ‘oh sí nos quedamos sin lingüina’. Deberíamos habérnoslo dicho con antelación. El pollo principal era una pequeña porción de pollo en un poco de salsa - difícilmente pollo supremo como decía en el menú. La madras era pollo en salsa de tomate con un poco de curry en polvo. Cuando (amablemente) señalamos todo esto al principio de la comida, la camarera fue desdeñosa y claramente no apreciamos nuestros comentarios! Desafortunadamente no volveremos. Hay muchos mejores lugares para comer en Durham. El Kings Lodge es muy caro con comida muy por debajo de la media.

Caffè Nero es uno de esos lugares que logra un equilibrio perfecto entre un gran café, un ambiente cálido y un ambiente relajado. Ya sea que esté buscando un lugar tranquilo para trabajar, ponerse al día con un amigo o simplemente disfrutar de una buena taza de café, rara vez decepciona. Sus bebidas a base de expreso son consistentemente ricas y suaves, y su selección de pasteles y sándwiches hace que sea un buen acompañamiento.

Visiting the area, decided on a meal here. This looked nice from the outside and inside was a typical old English style pub. Called ahead to see if I needed to book a table. The lady kindly warned me that it was bingo night but it shouldn’t affect us. Went a little bit early to have a drink and was warmly welcomed by a gentleman behind the bar. We were seated out of the main bar area for our meal as the bingo was on. All staff very attentive, polite and professional during the evening. We all had different meals ranging from Haddock and Chips, Steak and Ale Pie, chips and Veg and Sausage and Mash. Large portions and all very tasty. Very busy as we left.

I have never had a bad meal from the butchers tap. I especially love the Sunday dinners, really nicely cooked and the only place I know that also serves parsnips.

Called in on the off chance as a nearby bar didnt have draft. Staff were so Welcoming, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Only planned on nipping in for a very quick drink but ended up staying longer due to the lovely atmosphere. We visit Hartlepool from Leeds to see family throughout the year and have never called in before, we will absolutely make sure we do so in future. Thank you for having us ❤️

Met up with some mates in Stanley before starting our road trip down to Dover then Calais, they were already tucking into some breakfast goodies, so I opted for a Full English and a coffee for myself, just to be sociable. Reading through some of these reviews and I’m wondering if I was in the same place? I found the staff were very attentive, polite and friendly, the breakfast beautifully cooked, well presented and substantial, the coffee excellent. Shamrock Bar in Stanley is a decent little cafe that serves decent food, I’m more than happy to recommend.

15 of us went today for Sunday lunch, pre booked rather than a drop in. Staff were great, they managed to be patient, efficient, attentive, professional, friendly and very hardworking. Whenever I visit, whichever staff are present all seem happy in their work and a good team. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time for 15 covers on a Sunday lunch time, all courses were delicious and there were clean plates all round. The southern fried chicken burgers were absolutely enormous, definitely good for those who like a challenge! We were having a family celebration and did not feel rushed at all, staff checked on us regularly and kept us topped up with drinks. The manager took photos for us and a staff member even changed my mum's glass without question, not knowing it was because her arthritis made it difficult to grip the j20 glass. Very kind people. The kitchen staff were also visibly working away really hard and doing a great job. All our visiting family thoroughly enjoyed their visit too. I can't wait to come back
