The bands who are booked at this pub are usually pretty amazing. As a big fan of live music, I can honestly say most of the bands I have seen at the Bay Horse have been rather brilliant. There is always a good atmosphere at the Horse, and the people and bar staff are really friendly. They all work very hard to keep the place going and make great choices with the bands they book. I've not really been disappointed yet and have been going there since maybe mid last year. Shame its not a bit bigger, but then it might lose some atmosphere if it was. New years day was amazing, as was boxing day. I've not had such a great time for years as last Christmas. Thanks to all the staff for making things work in the way you do. Keep up the good work.

We visited this morning for coffee, cake and ice cream with the family. Gorgeous place, excellent food and very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Lots of measures in place re Covid - felt very clean and safe.

One of the few places in Durham that serves actual bubble tea made with real fruit and fruit juice rather than using sugary syrups. Always has a delicious set of drinks and is the sister shop to the one in Newcastle. Only important thing to note is that it is CASH ONLY for payments under 10 pounds. If you know the lady well she can sometimes let you off but it is important to remember if just buying a drink for yourself. They are also quite pricey - though personally the genuine fruit makes it worth it as a treat!

Visited for the Wicked/Halloween themed brunch and had the best time. The place and staff all looked great, we were seated really quickly and taken through what options we had available for us. We had endless amounts of Prosecco and lots of cocktail options, they even threw in some free starter shots. There was a good variety of food choices, I went with the chicken and waffles, whilst it didn’t knock my socks off it was nice enough. The service from Rachel was amazing from the moment we arrived, she kept the drinks flowing and was really attentive, always checking if we were ready for more. Overall a really great value boozy brunch, I would defo recommend giving it a whirl.

Just as you would expect, simply excellent

Called in early evening for a meal. Start serving at 5pm. Had chicken supreme. Wished I'd had steak pie or lasagne, but chicken was fine but I tend to like stronger flavours. Veg (potato, mangetout and cabbage) was fresh and cooked well...still a bit of crunch in the greens, as I like it. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Will go back again.

Found this pub on our way to the Kynren experience early August. The food was excellent and service. Staff very friendly.

Worst coffee I've ever had. The coffee tasted like it was made with rotten coffee beans and the milk was sour. I have contacted food standards. I have been sick from it

I was here a on Friday gone, getting together with a friend for a coffee and chat. Throughout our conversation we were disturbed by a loud noise coming from the counter area, a loud grinding noise, that echoed all over. It was similar to being in a loud pub and I could just about hear my friend speak. It was annoying and shouldn't be done where customers are. We won't be coming back here again.
