My local pub for decades, the Top House is now under new management with spectacular results. Serving top quality food from 9am until 3pm by friendly staff. Card payments accepted. Karaoke each Wednesday and regular musical entertainment. Good atmosphere.

Not busy because it was robbed during the night

Breakfast was hot fresh and lovely deffo worth the price. Katie makes the best 👌. Love how they do tin tomatoes n lots of buttery toast. See you next wk.

Just had Sunday lunch it was really lovely mash amazing had the beef was lovely and enjoyed yorky definitely worth a visit

Very unsafe due to bad reputation. I got a knife slash on my back when I was here last and I was unaware until I got home.

No real ales available. Staff friendly.

In the area for an event and this was the closest pub to it.. To be fair the pints were a really good quality, however our experience was the same as some of the other reviewers... everyone stares at you when you walk in, majorly uncomfortable. Had I gone to the toilet before having a drink I would have left.. no locks on any of the doors, toilet seats hanging off and it honestly smelt like someone had died in there.. wiped my feet on the way out!! The bar also smelt like toilet...

Fantastic staff. Diverse range of customers. Superb Guinness. Great conversation (generally). Will be even better when the scheduled refurbishment commences to include cooked meals once more.

Sunday afternoon drinks kick-off bar, some real characters

Every pub in Stanley is aimed at the afternoon drunk.. The 'clientele' swear, talk loudly and stare at everyone who walks in. The food is overpriced for a tinned taste meal and is poorly presented. There were children climbing the chairs and one even came out with the 'F'word. The only good thing is that the 'waitress' Toni is very pleasant, polite and extremely helpful.

The top house pub is best avoided ..we waited over a hour for food which was below standard full of grease ...we asked to see manager or chef couldn't so chef told waitress not to charge! Wise as none was eaten ..avoid!

The food was just disgraceful, greasier than anything I have ever seen and it took over an hour for our meal to be cooked. And in return, we received frozen clumps of what we thought could have been meat, greasy chips (there was that much grease that you could fill your glass with it). The toilets looked like they haven't been cleaned in 5 years. the kitchen absolutely disgusting. If we had seen the toilets before ordering we would have left straight away.

This is the first time that we have been in since the kitchen reopened. Waitress service. Very pleasant staff. We decided to try the 8oz gammon with chips. Plates of food arrived. We enjoyed our meals and will be back. Very nice. Well done.

Visited The Top House a number of times now and the food is freshly made and great value for money. We've had the carvery, breakfast, and meals from the menu and every one has been fantastic. We had a huge breakfast this morning... so huge we couldn't finish it! For two breakfasts, tea and coffee it was less than £11 - like I've said already great value for money. The atmosphere is really relaxed and the staff are really friendly. It's great for singles, couples or families - they cater for everyone. Thoroughly recommended and definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely amazed at the extensive menu choices for all 3 courses. Outstanding value for money is an understatement! 5 main course meals for £26. Quality and taste, potion size and service is absolutely fantastic. I'll definately visit again very soon and would recommend this eatery to everyone.

the pub was lively with people eating a drinking lovely atmoshere the staff were very chatty and helpful the food we had was wonderful we all had the christmas menu which was cooked by Craig &Mark cant praise them enough had a lovely time try it! you will not be dissappointed

We visit the top house on a Saturday dinner time. The new menu is very good. I have started to have the hunters chicken with homemade chips. We also on occasions go for the sunday carvery. Very good quality meat and vegetables. Staff are very polite.

Visited with my family for the Carvery, exceptional value for money with a great selection to choose from and the Pork was cooked to perfection, even a free dessert included. staff were very friendly and made us all feel welcome. Overall a fantastic experience, fantastic food and a great selection of drinks. See you all again very soon and keep up the good work.

I've visited here on several occasions now and every time the food is spot on , it's great value for money and the carvery is always fresh and piping hot.

Just been for Sunday lunch best ever talk about value for money£5.99 for carvery beef pork turkey sweet hillie ham with mashed pots and roast 4 veg proper stuffing and the best gravy I have ever tasted going back next week for Friday's fish offer scampi or cod and chips with bread and butter and tea or coffe all for £8.99 for 2 the two chefs were spot on quit good fun watching them having banter with each other a strange mix of people in pub drinking but got to say again best food for a long long time
