Costa in County Durham

Shocking service - spoken to like a dog charged the same price for a skinny latte small with an extra shot but for what was effectively a mini cup! All because no lids for anything other than a mini take out cup - was not made aware of this at the start of my order Pen thrown at me because i couldn’t scan the qbr code - disgraceful particularly the amount I spend in here - no more Then I saw the barista wipe the coffee measure with her hand no gloves! There isn’t a week goes by that this shop either doesn’t have something or dishwasher broken etc. Not a great experience

Compared to other Costa I have been too I was slightly disappointed by this one! Firstly they got the order wrong and then it took a while to prepare them, so much so the customer served after me got they drink before ourselves! When waiting for our drinks I was watching them prepare the wrong order and didn't looked like the barrista really cared about the presentation and was just pouring it in haphazardly

As much as a I like Costa coffee they are all so 'the same'. The one in Seaham is fine but it's exactly the same as any other Costa!

I was buying some coffee for me and my two daughters and the way one of the staff (Danny) spoke to a young lady (another worker) was discusting. He needs to think what he says to his staff.

Just waited over 20 minutes for a Cappuccino! The so called ‘Barista’ then went on to tell me how it was my fault!Absolutely the worst service I have ever had in a coffee shop. I will definitely not be going back there. In fact, I am so annoyed, I feel like I should boycott the brand.

Go in most times really friendly staff and great service and enjoy watching the world go by and best place to meet lady’s

I visited regular for a hot chocolate after shopping, untill I once noticed cream on my drink which I didn't ask for as I am vegan. The response was disgusting, the male said "well it wouldn't be vegan anyway so there's nothing I can do!" & he folded his arms & turned away. The female assistant said "I thought it was just a may contain milk on the hot choc?" for the male to abruptly said " everyone thinks that and I am sick of it because clearly it's not!" I then had to ask him if I could have a refund which he huffed about then threw in my hand. I then messaged Costa and they gave me a list of the vegan drink's they sell which includes hot choc without cream added. The next and last time I entered the same idiot said I couldn't have anything from that drinks menu untill they were sent a nutrition book on those drinks, hopefully he's now learned something about what he's selling by now or been sacked for his disgusting customer service skills.

Spend most of my time in costa coffee having a latte the staff are really friendly and get service with a smile

Coffee was alright but have had much better in other Costa outlets , also the Coffee should be served a little bit hotter . Girl who took order was excellent but the two Baristas -- especially the boy -- were too eager to have an ongoing conversation and make jokes rather than serve the customers .

Warm and friendly staff and welcome here. Decent coffee and not overpriced. Ideal pit stop after beach visit.

I go here on a regular basis. Most of the staff of friendly. Coffee is lovely from there and my kids love the hot chocolates and the coolers. Always clean, tables are cleaned regularly too.

Not usually one to post a negative review but this was a disastrous visit - over charged, cold drink, wrong change given, inpolite staff, wrong size drinks to what I had ordered. Everything that could go wrong did! .

While meeting with our son and his partner we opted to go to Costa for coffee and cake.

Half way through my cycle ride I decided to pop into the Seaham shop. The shop itself is immaculate, the staff were all extremely polite and friendly however I had a long wait for my mocha which tasted just like hot water.

After a friendly, smiley greeting , eye contact and a warm welcome I ordered our Salted Caramel Coolers.

Called in for a quick coffee as only one person in the queue however there was only one person behind the counter. I think the others were maybe on a break as this has happened before. I waited for a while and the girl said she wouldn't be long. As she was serving the guy on front of the queue with 3 coffees. After about 7 or 8 minutes I left. I will only go back if there is no one in the queue. Very slow service.

Visited today with my son from school the staff werent very friendly and they both vanished out the back for ages. There was at least 3 tables of dirty dishes. Not very pleasant at all

Each time I have been in this coffee shop the service has been slow but today it was shocking. I’ve never seen a worse system of making coffee, the machine is terrible. The staff could do with some training on how to greet customers too and should be told ‘Alright’? is not a suitable alternative to ‘hello’.

Staff refused to serve drink in a normal cup reason being they only had 2 members of staff in. However, the shop only had a handful of people in and they were under no pressure at the counter. I come here most Sunday mornings but will not be returning. Very disappointed!

This costa is doing everything right, great customer service, great flat white, clean premises and views of the sea also it's nice to have a place that's open till 8 for a good coffee and a catch up with friends

While out for a walk around town decided to stop off at Costa for a quick coffee.

Had a latte in seaham costa this morning. Only problem, it was supposed to be a flat white. I am sick of visiting coffee chains where staff have not been properly trained to make a flat white. If some baristas in the same chains can make a good flat white, why not the rest? The whole point of visiting chains is that the product is the same at each outlet. Beginning to think that the only way to force the chains to take responsibility for training franchise staff properly is a prosecution under the trading standards legislation. Get your act together!

this is aa very gud costa but need to be outside if u want to talk!i liked the 80s music but it was like being in finos on a fri nite( what memories!)..finos was also in the 80 s.( club in sunderland)..now im a bit older i need to rely on conversation which we had to go outside for...yes i could ask barristas to turn it down but should i need too? ..the food coffee service is very gud as is seaham these days..shame to spoil it a little.

Waited 25 minutes for coffee's and 30 minutes for a sandwich and teacake to be served, sat outside among cigarette ends which littered the floor of the Costa premises. Although a non-smoker tried to enjoy a sandwich unfortunately with someone else's cigarette smoke on the table adjacent.

This has become a regular place for coffee when I am in the area. Excellent team of baristas. Friendly while very busy, with good coffee.

Fairly new outlet right on the sea front beside Byron Place shopping centre. Typical Costa - been in one been in the rest but very friendly staff and nice environment

Good coffee and friendly service. This is an excellent Costa. The location is excellent and there is plenty of outside seating.

This costa has a beautiful view and at the weekend I visited with some friends to say farewell to a friend who is emigrating. 14 minutes we were in the queue and If it hadn't been for the fact that 2 of the party were already seated with drinks, I would have left!

Great coffee, staff really friendly. We had to wait quite a while as it was busy and hubby got a bit impatient. However, when we got our coffee it was very nice.

Good choice of Costa coffees, snacks and drinks served promptly and pleasantly. Lovely views of the sea. A good place to take a break and enjoy a coffee. It is quite small and if there are a couple of customers with wheelchairs or pushchairs, it can be quite difficult to find enough room.

Came in for tea coffee, all fine, toastie and biscuit, yep still fine...until service, lack luster and uninterested...however not all staff, paid and no receipt so I asked if she'd binned it, so out of the bin it came and onto my tray, not impressed, took my money with about much life as a wilted flower...is it just me or is the service of today just terrible..and no I'm not in my 80's.

I grew up in Seaham but it's many decades since I have been back. Costa certainly wasn't there in my time. We wanted a quick snack as we were passing through and this suited us very nicely. Staff were friendly and coffee hot and strong. Not sure why there were so many cc cameras, but perhaps a safety must

Love the location of this shop as pic shows you. Lovely on a morning when the sun is coming up at the sea front

It is getting 3 stars because as a cafe for drinks it is fine otherwise the rating would be lower. What was disappointing was the toasty. For the price paid you would expect to be able to spot the filling but I had trouble doing so (see pic, this is a chicken and bacon toasty). For a large chain like Costa I'm sure they can afford to put enough filling in a toasty so that you can at least taste it!

My favourite coffee stop, nice location and plenty of seats in side. Staff very friendly, creating a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Use the place daily everyone lively and go out of there way to help. The pricing is the same as any Costa and the coffee too. Clean and friendly

Met up with friends, it was a lovely day so we sat outside, we could have been abroad! I do think it's a bit pricey but we enjoyed our coffee and cake, staff were friendly and it was really busy.

Always get good service, nice hot toasty, and a lovely latte made to perfection. Friendly environment and spacious.

Visited here again this morning with my fiance for coffee and teacake.Lovely flat white as usual and the staff are always friendly.Good asset to Seaham.

As it was a newcomer to Seaham have tried it twice but both times the service was poor and staff training seemed lacking. Seemed to take far too long to make a cup of coffee. Shame because it is a nice location to sit outside. Lots of nice independent coffee shops in Seaham which are far better with more character.

Great service every time by the workers !! Always busy lovely costa ! Sights of the sea right next to byron place shopping centre bottom of church street ! I have been going since it opened in September !!

Went for a stroll on the front after visiting Seaham Hall and before going home went to Costa Coffee for a Toastie and cup of tea and slice of lemon cake. Everything was well presented and very clean. You know you can't go wrong at a Costa.

Friendly and helpful staff and very clean coffee shop. Would recommend this Costa and good location.

Always a delight to visit with friendly staff and excellent service. Usually able to find a seat and great shopping around the area and dont forget to visit the harbour

No surprises on the menu, Costa as good as you get anywhere, comfortable seating (we managed to get the lounge chairs), large windows to see out.

My introduction to the delights of the hot chocolate with marshmallows; can't have many of them on a diet!

After having great difficulty getting something to eat in another local cafe (success has gone to their heads) we trundled off down towards the shopping centre and called into the new Costa Coffee again. It's a bright airy purpose built building just up from the Marina and we've been in a few times now. The service is canny. No pretensions, staffed by locals doing a good job. The fayre is typical Costa offerings the world over (well UK). Good sized latte´s, moreish cakes and my favourite Almond Croissants. Comfy seats, big windows, and warm and dry! What more could you ask for?
