Shamrock in County Durham

Met up with some mates in Stanley before starting our road trip down to Dover then Calais, they were already tucking into some breakfast goodies, so I opted for a Full English and a coffee for myself, just to be sociable. Reading through some of these reviews and I’m wondering if I was in the same place? I found the staff were very attentive, polite and friendly, the breakfast beautifully cooked, well presented and substantial, the coffee excellent. Shamrock Bar in Stanley is a decent little cafe that serves decent food, I’m more than happy to recommend.

Big breakfast was in fact small especially for the price. Slapped on a small plate to make it look like more. Toast was burnt as was the bacon, Sausages were small and the pot of tea was so bad I had to put 8 sugars in to make it drinkable. I have heard lots of good things about this place so I was very eager to try it, but unfortunately left very disappointed.

Just been up to collect order and OMG!!! We ordered 3 different burgers and all 3 were absolutely unreal!!! They were massive, fresh and absolutely delicious!!! I can't rate highly enough!!! Thanks so much Shamrock Bar Stanley

We popped In for a quick lunch before a care home visit. Ordered coffee and sandwiches made in foccacia bread. Coffee served In minutes then followed a 30 minute wait for our sandwiches in which we had already finished our coffee. Unfortunately we Didn't know the foccacia would be hot and I requested no cheese In mine so I had a hot tuna sarnie. We did not see this on the menu. Just my taste but I don't like uncookrd cheese. I would have left it In had I known it was cooked.

We got a seat and then decided what we would like to eat. We went to the counter but didn't realize it was table service. We just had something light. 2 x bacon sandwiches and a ham and cheese sandwich. 2 x lattes and a dr pepper. The staff were very polite and wrote everything down. We paid. Drinks came quite quickly. We waited a little longer for our food. Food was delicious. We will be back.

Went into Shamrock, I’m not a regular in Stanley and went for a cup of tea with a friend to get greeted by an arrogant individual working at the Bar. She was a lady in her 40s and was very rude. I won’t be recommending Shamrock to any of my friends or family due to this unexpected incident. I decided to go elsewhere and went to the hotel across the road and got a more welcoming reception.

The service in this pleasant cafe is excellent always polite ,friendly and a smile. Nothing a troubled. I often pop in and have the most lovely latte . Recently I've had a bacon sandwich in a brown bun delicious. Do try the cheesecake it is delicious and very well presented. I haven't tried the crepes , waffles etc but never heard any complaints. All in all if you want a lovely coffee it's worth a visit

Lovely home made crepes but disappointed as customers were smoking ecigs in the shop so it stunk when going in( this is made worse as the cafe is very very small).

A great snack bar – offering Waffles, Crêpes, Smoothie – Coffee and a chat. This is just a starter – so we need to support the guys with their business venture. But what’s the food like? The Waffle was delicious. That floury-taste that you sometimes get from pancake-mixes was not present in the Waffle I ordered; great sign of quality. I topped it with caramel syrup and banana; it was delicious! The banana was notably perfect in its ripeness; and the smell and taste from it was just perfect. No doubt the rest of what the menu offers will be of the same well selected ingredients and freshness. For £4 with a Coffee to go – it was well worth the spend. The negative? (I always include a negative, when I can with my reviews) Limited portion sizes. They need to offer Small or Large portion sizes; sometimes you feel a large portion would be perfect if you really want to pig out (extra cost of course) and small ones for your friends - lol. Overall – great place for a quick sweet-fix.

Great staff, quality service and the chocolate milkshake is out of this world. Strongly recommend the chocolate milkshake and chocolate covered crepe. #themutznutz
