I booked a table via their website which was very easy to use and they sent me an email confirmation and reminder the day before the booking.It was very busy on a Sunday but the service was very good, and there was enough parking. If we go back I would ask for a table at the front of the pub as the back near the kitchen was quite dark with no windows. It is connected to the hotel so I expect it is busy most of the time.The food was very good as expected as I have been to another vintage inn and expected a similar standard.

A very disappointing meal. Extremely slow service, didnt have chosen beer and substitute was awful. Ordered soup and were given incorrect type so declined. Pie came without mash or any potatoes, side order Of sweet potato fries were cold and included in wrong dish. Bill came and included soup! Really poor , such a shame as its a lovely cosy inn, but must be losing customers with the very slow service and inconsiderate parking.

We used to visit quite a lot with the family and liked the place, found it cosy and pleasant. Recent visits havent been as good, food slow in arriving, prawn cocktail once had soil in the lettuce?! Rude, arrogant staff, sniggering and muttering comments under their breath about us behind the bar when we asked to speak to a manager. THis is just not acceptable behaviour. Will never return.

We visited this establishment Feb 8 at 5pm and were told to sit ourselves down. We had a 4 year old with us and we were hoping to be out reasonably quickly. NO CHANCE! We ordered a starter of warm bread and olives and it took 25 minutes to serve us with 4 slices of bread and a small bowl of olives. The service was just as poor when it came to the main courses and sweets. It was a shame really because the food, when it came, was quite tasty. It took 2 hours for us to get served and eat. If you are in a bit a bit of a hurry do not go here.

We normally give positive feedback for this establishment, but on this occasion we feel the need to report our negative findings.Firstly on arrival our drinks order was taken only to find out that Vintage Inns higher management had taken the decision to replace popular draft beer such as John Smiths and Carling Lager and replace with less popular brands in my opinion. We had booked in and attended for 12 noon opening time for a Sunday, we were one of the first orders taken however we had a wait of 35 minutes to sit through. As part of our order we had asked for a side of salad undressed, only to find on delivery that it was covered in a dressing which my wife couldn't eat. The waitress came over over and asked if the food was ok, my wife expressed her dislike with the sale and although the waitress apologised and confirm that she had placed the order correctly, no attempt was made to rectify the matter. Whats the point in enquiring about standards and service of food if no action is taken?

Having been to this restaurant in the past, I knew that they keep a proportion of their tables back for "walk-ins" which was ideal for calling in on spec. We waited only a minute or two for a table despite the restaurant being busy. We were seated at an internal table which at first sight looked as though it was on a walkway, but we were not troubled by any people walking past and after the first minute we didn't even notice this. We ordered some soft drinks then beer battered halloumi with triple fried chips, and courgette and chick pea burger with the same triple fried chips. Both were delicious. and although it didn't look like a huge feast we were surprised to find that we were unable to manage a dessert. There were plenty of vegetarian choices and a number of fish options. The service was fine, although the server could have engaged with us a bit more as we clearly would have liked a bit of advice on the menu/drinks. The atmosphere was very nice too and it is obviously a very busy place. We left about 2pm and there were still plenty of people coming in at that time. Definitely recommended.

Visited here on January 28th. Waited ages to be given a menu.Everyone seemed to wait ages for courses to arrive.It's a shame because the venue is very nice. Complained on the way out and asked to see the manager who didn't seem particularly bothered. He said they had more people than normal on a Thursday night. I would have thought that Thursday is a popular night for eating out. He didn't apologise he couldn't be bothered. Don,t think we'll be back.

Chose food from the lunchtime menu which has a decent choice. The food was fine and service was good. The surroundings are very nice with plenty of seating choices. Would certainly have no reservations in recommending this venue to others.

I can't thank the staff of the church mouse too much. They were excellent And here's why. !! Last night my family and I had booked Le Raaj next door for a meal to celebrate my birthday. They had overbooked and had no table for us so we left.Upon ringing the church mouse they did not hesitate to provide assistance to us and were able to provide a table within 20 minutes.The staff the service and the meal as well as the atmosphere were excellentMany thanks. We ate at the restaurant on 19th January. The décor is very pleasing with a nice open fire. We found the service to be excellent. On the food front I have to say the food was average. One issue that we did have was one of our guests ordered lamb done three ways. The lamb chops were clap cold and presumably put in the microwave to heat up and re-served.We had dinned at the restaurant in December last year and found the food to be excellent hence the return visit. Unfortunately the food wasn’t as good as the last visit.

We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and usually found the food to be of reasonable quality and the staff to be friendly and quite attentive.Our experience this week deviated from the norm. We ordered Sirloin Steaks both done the same way. When they arrived my steak was fine but my wife's was under cooked. The waiter came and asked if we just wanted the steak heating up for a bit longer or a fresh one cooking, we chose the latter option. This left my wife with no meal and me with no option but to eat mine and by the time the fresh meal arrived I had finished - not what you'd expect or want. There was no apology made for the mistake.The steaks themselves were quite chewy and a bit gristly too which they never used to be. From this visit it seems quality of both the food and the service here is beginning to slip.

The pub has a large free car park which is tidy and safe. Nice inside with friendly staff.In the summer months it's possible to sit outsideMy partner and I had Sunday lunch which was however very average. Frozen veg and soggy roast potatoes. I've had worse but for the price I've had better. I had a starter and a Sunday roast. My better half opted for a main course only.If I was passing anyway I would certainly consider another visit but am unlikely to go out of my way to visit.

Have been visiting this pub for a few years now and I have no negative points to report. We only have drinks here prior to eating at the Le Raaj indian down the road so cannot comment on the food served. The selection of drinks are good and averagely priced. Bar staff have been friendly on each occasion. They always seem to be serving quite a bit of food when we visit which must be a good sign?

After my last review I said "I will NEVER BE BACK" well after today's visit I mean it!!! I visited today with family for an afternoon bite to eat & they might have a new fancy pub food menu but the attitude of the staff is diabolical!! Overpriced pub food that is given to you NOT Served & they try & use fancy gadgets to take your order but I would go back to paper cheques as the current system is a constant failure. From where we were sitting nearly every table (On a Friday afternoon) was saying how poor it was. All the food at all tables was taking what seamed like an eternity to arrive (And then the orders were wrong). Under the right management & guidance (Gordon's Kitchen Nightmares would have a field day) this could be one of the best in the area as it has loads of potential & the building a dead quirky.

Having dined at the Church Mouse in December we had lunch with friends on 15th January. On entry we noticed that a new menu was introduced on the 14th.We all arrived at the correct time ordered drinks. These took longer than normal to arrive. We then ordered our lunch. And waited. Finally after over one hour from sitting down the main course arrived. Two of the party were disappointed with their choice, the smoked haddock, due to the small portion of fish. After lunch we ordered desert. Four ordered the hot drink and mini desert. After another wait the coffee arrived but not desert, this came much later after the coffee was drank. We had to ask what was happening with our order and were told it was nearly ready.In all we were at the restaurant for two and half hours for two courses. At no time did any one apologise for the slow service or offer an explanation. The service was poor.Will we return. No.

We visited last night as we decided we didn't want to cook. It was cold and wet so decided to go to the church mouse as they have great real log fires. When we arrived we found out that it was the first day of the new menu which we both liked the look of loads to choose from. I had a ham hock fantastic it was the Mrs had a pizza that's right homemade pizza have been added to the menu to it looked a smelt fantastic unfortunately I wasn't allowed any so I couldn't say it tasted great but she ate the lot and said she would definitely get it again. The service was a bit slower than normal but you can tell by the menu that it's fresh food and it was the first day. We will be back soon
