I went to Pavilion Road to meet a girlfriend for coffee, a love sunny day so a lot of places were busy, however all of the outside tables at Ottolenghi were free. I went in and ordered two coffees from a rather surly and indifferent girl and said we’d be outside, we were then approached by a somewhat officious waitress who said you had to pay a service charge to sit at the outside tables, bearing in mind this was 10h30 and didn’t want to eat, plus all the tables were empty. She rattled on making no sense at all by which time our coffees arrived. She had by then disappeared, so we drank our insipid and tepid coffees and cleared off a few doors down to the more welcoming Bread Ahead. Come on Ottolonghi, treating locals with contempt? You’re not a Michelin starred restaurant but a deli, stop sitting on your laurels and sort out your appalling staff!

My friends and I recently held our birthday at The Crown. Laura and her team were fantastic. I would definitely recommend the venue for your private events.

We were pleasantly surprised to find how quiet our stay here was, especially since our 2nd night’s stay was during England’s semifinal match against the Netherlands in the Euro Cup. The location of this pub with rooms is only a few minutes walk from Farringdon Station, a very busy area with connections to ThamesLink, Elizabeth Line & the London Underground. The pub is actually located on a small side street that doesn’t have much foot or vehicle traffic which also helped with the quietness. Check-in was very quick & easy. Our room was ready when we arrived early and the young man who checked us in helped with our heaviest piece of luggage. There is no elevator and the steps are steep and narrow. We were on the 2nd floor, 2 flights of stairs up with a separate entrance from the pub. There was a nice little goodies basket in our room with free snacks and some water bottles in the mini fridge. Our stay also included a 10% discount in the pub on the ground floor. The size of our room, bed & bathroom were more than adequate for us. Overall a very comfortable feel to the pub & room. The only problem we had was that the in-room safe didn’t work. We would definitely stay here again.

Manager and staff superb. We go here for drinks and usually sit by the window, the staff remember what drinks we have even though it is packed on a Sunday. The roasts look amazing and the puds. Nice to feel welcome when we just go for drinks. Everyone is well looked after and they ensure everyone leaves with a smile.

Not as big as most Fullers pubs and a limited menu. Having said that, all the items on the menu looked very tempting. We ordered hummus (with pitta and black olives) and a charcuterie board for 2. Both were delicious and good value. Both the ladies behind the bar were really helpful and pleasant (this is not a given in central London pubs). One helped us take our supper to the upstairs "Wine Room" - a very quiet oasis of a room. A very nice evening. We wnat to go back to try the toasties and the Scotch eggs.

Cosy and rustic interior, looks good for a Sunday roast. We stood outside for pints on a clear day which was lovely, as the road is generally free of traffic. Service was efficient and the German beers shake up the usual choice of taps. Avoid walking down the road to the Nag’s Head if you’re on a pub crawl, and head on to the Grenadier once you’re done.
