CUSTOMERS TALK ABOUT DISHES WITH.. roast

We visited Maida Vale on a trip to London, I did research where was best for Sunday Roast and The Clifton rated top. I did call last minute and they got us a table. The service was very swift and friendly, we both had the Sunday Roast, I have the Pork, which was the best Roast Pork I have ever had, my Husband had the Roast Beef (Sirlion), he thoroughly enjoyed his too, the accompanying root veg mash, spring cabbage, roasties and yorkshire pudding were also delicious. We shared a sticky toffee pudding with whipped cream, also delicious, I can safely say it was one of the best Sunday Roasts I have ever had. If I am ever in the area again we will definitely return.

A bit of a trek to find, but a nice walk from Madia Vale tube. Set in a leafy area with interesting architecture on route. The pub was famous for Edward V11 rendezous with the stage actress Lily Langtry. A friendly pub and landlord.

Staff were very friendly and helpful in navigating where we should sit. Beer good, we didn't eat there but lots of people were. Great place to go if you are missing your dog, as there is always a friendly one of two in there!

We ventured over to the quiet neighborhood of St. John Wood and discovered this gem. Albeit a short menu, it was all delicious. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, fish finger sandwich on fresh sourdough bread, the chicken schnitzel was delectable and came served with an egg, the tomato and watermelon gazpacho was refreshing and had full bodied flavors. The gem salad was fresh with a delicious housemade vinaigrette. We didn’t need it but the chicken Korean style on the appetizer menu was melt in your mouth delicious. The service was terrific and personable. We were sitting outside and two different tables had large dogs with them, one of which barked frequently. Otherwise it was a near perfect family lunch.

After an all night flight from the US, I discovered this gem on a walk. They have a wonderful outdoor patio, and several different inside seating options. The menu is varied. For Sunday, they have a wide variety of roasts. I had the beef which was phenomenal. Service is terrific. You can tell the staff take pride in their establishment.

We've come here several times for the Sunday roast, which is delicious, with perfectly roasted aged beef, caramelized veg, buttery yorkshire pudding, and best of all, a vegan roast option for those family members who are, well, just different. Also had fish and chips with mushy peas on this visit and it was also great.

We lived in NW8 for some time, & had heard about this pub... mostly for (shhh!) Paul McCartney sightings. However, once we ate & drank there a number of times, we were hooked. (Even without Sir Paul...) The food is excellent -- NOT at all the typical British pub fare, but rather a true "gastro-pub" as the new term goes. Excellent menu, great drinks & superb ambiance. It is a bit tucked away off the beaten tourist track as well, a definite plus to those not wanting the hub-bub of Picadilly or the West End.

We went to have a drink as it is our family name (Clifton). We were made to feel very welcome by an American hostess. The service was very good even though we were an awkward group. Great olives to start and all of our meals were spot on. Great decor and ambiance would definitely recommend finding it if your going to abbey wood studios.

It's been years since I moved out of this neighbourhood when I used to visit The Clifton often. So it was lovely to discover that it is just as charming and the food is still as good. The staff are also incredibly helpful. The menu is not standard fayre and the vegetarian options are plentiful and delicious.

I already just reviewed this place like two months ago and come here all the time now but wow, I only just tried their Sunday roast and it deserves a review all to itself. Do yourself a favour and switch your oven off on a Sunday, save on the washing up and go to the Clifton instead. We tried the beef and pork, both amazing, both served with delicious homemade sauces and both dressed with perfectly cooked vegetables. And the gravy and Yorkshire pudding! As a 'Yorkshire lass' by birth, I think I speak on behalf of my people when I say this: you did good. The service was second to none with a side order of waitress banter, and also saw an actress there and some super cute dogs which kept things interesting. Same time next week!

Just returned from an outdoor three course meal here and it was lovely (and safe). Very friendly and pleasant service, nice locals filling up the garden and was nice to have beer on tap again but the food stole the show - even the baby gem lettuce side was amazing. Really recommend the burger, steak and scotch egg. Also the team brought out candles and turned on the fairy lights as it got dark, so very atmospheric outdoors. Look forward to returning!
