Absolutely loved my experience here! The food was fantastic - I had the burger, and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. The staff were super nice, making the atmosphere very welcoming and enjoyable. Plus, the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you get. Highly recommend this place!

My favourite pub in Walthamstow. Love the vibes, the atmosphere, the garden, the food. I've been many times and I've always had a great experience. Very cosy and warm in the winter too. Staff are always nice and friendly. They also play matches, have live music, and other events. It's a fun place!

Cheap n cheerful food. Good beers. Lovely atmosphere. Sport on TV and a pub that still has a pool table.

The Sunday roast lunch was great

Had work drinks local and chose the Chequers, had 35 people there and they coped very well. Put on a good spread and everyone had a good night. Thanks all at the Chequers!

Great London pub , very busy and the Sunday lunch looked great, but short on time to try it.

This is a really god bar. They have a beautiful garden area with heaters that actually work. The music doesn't play outside even on low because of neighbours but if they had some kind of music outside, it would open a lot of opportunities. I found lipstick on my wine glass, but I cleaned it off... not what you would expect if glasses were clean. This bar has so much potential it is mesmerising... from the space to colour coordination, this bar could become something really special. Barstaff are friendly and happy, which is expected from any public house. 3*'s from me, but room for improvement.

Nice pub, not too busy and relatively quiet. Lovely decor and excellent service. The pizzas they sell are nothing massively special but still fairly nice.

We come here to relax in the garden, enjoy a good meal and (usually) a pint of real ale. It's a friendly place, lots of families, piped music and TVs about. We've not had a bad meal here. It's a go-to.

Went in for a last minute roast dinner and to watch some football and it’s really good value. Roast beef was very good and the service is always good inside.

Quirky central pub, with food. Hand-pump beer now only occasionally available but other tap range is reasonable, including "Five Points". Outdoor courtyard is popular. Furniture "shabby chic", and more comfortable than it used to be. Emphatically dog-friendly, with water bowls readily available. Friendly staff promote a good atmosphere. Historically decidedly rough (a previous landlord would allow favoured punters to feel the tip of the bullet still lodged in his side, which he acquired on the premises!) the idea of trouble now seems incongruous in this easy-going place. Can be noisy. All these damn younger people! (PH is 94...)

It's okay, not a lot of diversity with the drinks offered. The woman bartender wasn't sure what Aperol was served with...

Really like this spot! Good wine and alcohol and NA selections. Great people working here. Lots of different areas to hang out in. Surprisingly good pizza and chicken sandwich.

Great beer (including local IPAs) and friendly service and football (went there during euros)

first time to this pub. loved the low-lit atsmophere, the choice of drinks, and the christmas decorations. Great place to meet a friend for a drink!

Nice local pub with a lovely garden.

The staff is nice and the decor is decent shabby chic, but sadly the food is abysmal (even things they actually recommend!) and the glasses are outright filthy.

Reason for low review is the recent price changes it's getting way expensive to spend time here. 2 jegger shots and 2 double jd and coke is 30 quid.

Decent gay friendly bar in Walthamstow

We had a great night here with some fun entertainment from Victoria Sponge. The staff were really friendly and efficient and the booze was very nice. All in all a very good experience. Had food on a subsequent visit. All good 👍🏻

Hired the function room for a party - I cannot fault the staff, they were so helpful, relaxed and friendly, accommodating for all my needs. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you Chequers!

Heard a lot of good things about The Chequers so decided to give it a try but sadly, not quite what was expected. One thing which they did not warn about was a private party going on which limited access to parts both inside & out. they should have just closed all evening for the party itself but hey ho. Service was good and food typical pub but nothing more. In summary, nice but maybe not worth a special trip.

Good local pub. Pool, darts, friendly staff and good vibes. Bad smell from toilets though.

Nice local PUB with prices from central London...

I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here, but what we did do was have an amazing time with amazing hosts. The place is quirky with varied seating options, the staff are fantastically friendly and helpful. We went while the first heat of Drag Idol was taking place and found the event well organised and managed. While clearly a LGBTQ+ bar there were plenty of straight people there and it's interesting to note that this quirky place makes everyone feel genuinely welcome and comfortable. Thoroughly recommend spending some time here no matter what your orientation is.

One of the few remaining pubs in Walthamstow. This is the last one in the market. Good range of beers and choice of food . Interior is shabby chic but nice. Recommend and will be back

I really like the pub usually hence 3* But my partner and I ate in here the other evening and the food was absolutely VILE. We ordered and it came in about 60 seconds. A ‘chicken burger’ that was old, hard and contained pretty much no chicken, and a ‘bbq pulled pork burger that was basically a tiny amount of very questionable meat SOAKED in some rank bbq type sauce, spread over a soggy bun. Then there’s the chips. Imagine the grossest, cheapest, 4am chicken shop, day old, skinny, limp, anaemic looking ‘fries’. And that was our meal. 3/10 (to be kind because I genuinely rate the venue).

Great pub, food & service excellent but menu limited due to key parts of the menu being unavailable - not ideal when the 2 things you want to eat aren’t available.

We were running late so called ahead and Emily answered she was happy to hold our table. From entering, the pub had character. We were greeted then seated by a very pleasant host and gifted an anniversary card and bubbles (8th wedding anniversary) we were offered specials and explained the menu, great drinks menu with lots to offer for everyone. We ordered and the food came in a timely fashion I had the steak and ale pie a must try and hubby had the burger on this occasion the fries were over cooked but check back done and they replaced fries instantly. We couldn’t fault anything and will definitely return. Thank you

Great atmosphere very nice food and very good service

So, having visited the place where I spent a lot of my 20s recently, I have to say it's good to see the old place is still going. It was nice to see a DJ playing some songs from the era that was most impactful on my youth. I remember the Tuesday metal night with more than just a little fondness, but all things change in time and sadly, long gone are the days of moshing out to Sound Garden, Pantera, and Metallica and ending the night with some green jelly. It reminds me of all the people that I had known and some that have been lost (Hooper, Kate and Alan), to name a few and to those that are still going remember the good times sharing a bottle of brown and getting told to leave you don't have to go home you just can't say here. Incidentally, I remember waking up a few times in this pub in the 90s and thinking f it was morning. Where is my bike lol

A great local pub with quick service, reasonable prices, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Perfect for a fun night out with friends, especially for their Karaoke and Themed nights.

Door was really lovey. Service was timely and friendly. Really enjoyed our lunch. Will be back!

Menu different to what was online. Ordered food and it arrived, crispy and too well done, and no cutlery brought over. Condiments had to be asked for and finally arrived. No alcohol free drinks apart from one type of beer and soft drinks. Forget having the table cleared of used glasses and plates, that took forever. Decor pretty naff. Disappointed- yes.

Had our work Xmas do here and it was fab...far better value than other local pubs in the stow/highams park area. Good choice of tap beers, high-end lamb shank and great service from start to end 👌👌👌

Great meal at a very busy time. We went just before Christmas.

We had a lovely time, not too busy to start which gave us a good opportunity to chat, but it got very busy and we were glad that we came early. The quality of the food is good and portion sizes are very good, however I do feel it is a little expensive. Service is prompt and the location and atmosphere are lovely. I would recommend this pub if you can afford to pay a little more.

With a really bubbly atmosphere The Chequers has became our favourite place to spend our Sundays with family and friends. Staff is friendly and attentive and food is stunning, based on traditional dishes if you visit on a Sunday you will find the best Roast in town with various options suiting all tastes. Its amazing food along with its also great ambience make The Chequers a perfect place to enjoy a meal out with your love ones.

Fab roast as always. Great service - quick, food hot, extras always offered.

I visit regularly on Saturdays for pints of Five Points and to watch The Prem football. The food is all freshly prepared by chefs who care. The sourdough pizzas are as good as Yard Sale and I love the buffalo wings. Other options include fish n chips. Great pub. I’m always warming welcomed by Fin and the staff who run an excellent pub.

Lovely meal and good service. Impressed that the free glass of wine with the Beef Wellington was discounted from our bottle of bubbly when it wasn’t required. We’ll be back soon!

The first thing you notice on entering this pub is that the décor is rather outdated. I know that the “distressed” look is coming back in but you tend to notice the difference if something is just past it. The next thing is the scruffy-looking bar staff who don’t exactly do the place any favours. Having said that, there is plenty space with a big garden at the back and more benches in the right-hand passage outside. Entertainment is often drag nights or drag bingo put on by the local events organiser but if they’re trying to turn it into a gay pub then a few barmen from Dorothy’s club wouldn’t go a miss, although it is questionable as to whether it would be their cup of tea. I decided not to have any food in this pub although you can see what goes on in the kitchen as it is behind the bar. I opted for bottled beer instead of draught in case the pipes weren’t clean. It’s the sort of place I might go if all other options were exhausted.

Great venue, nice staff and varied menus. It was surprisingly lacking in diners for a Tuesday lunchtime.

Been to this pub/restaurant a number of times and would highly recommend it. Staff incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive, menu is great with always amazing specials which are always explained. Had the Sunday Roast yesterday and staff always come round asking if you want seconds of roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings!!! Highly recommended and can't wait to visit again....

Great hidden little Gem, visited for my sons birthday. Very friendly and welcoming, excellent service throughout. Food was delicious and had a very board menu selection. Lovely spacious seating areas inside and outside, Separate from the main bar area. Highly recommended.

We'd been to 3 or 4 other Peach Pubs and enjoyed them, so chose The Chequers for a reunion with old friends. We were not disappointed. Excellent choice of food and wines, pleasantly and efficiently served. Our guests loved it.

Great setting, lovely decor, wonderful staff who are very attentive. I wasnt a huge fan of the main I chose but that was just a personal preference thing. My wife loved hers. Its a nice pub. You won't be getting fine dining but it isn't supposed to be.

Great old pub for sitting in and outside in a big area for none smokers and smoking.. 4 drinks where £21.20 2 x 6.50 a print and 2 x 1 red and 1 white with lemonade wines.. Special meal deals through the week as well.

Excellent food and friendly service. Happy with to learn they have gluten-free choices as well.
