Whether you're going for a pint in the bar downstairs, or a proper meal upstairs, this place is super cool. Really great gastro pub food - their savory pies are amazing - and a really nice cask ale. And the staff was super friendly, I chatted a bit with my server and even the chef while he was taking a break by the bar. Cool chill place.

A Nicholson pub in soho. Unfortunately on the day we visited the bar staff could not have been less interested in thier job, waited a good 10 minutes at an empty bar to be served and it felt like an inconvenience being there. Ordered food (large nachos with beef and halloumi fries) and it was reasonably tasty but for the price the portions were pretty measly (to the extent I wouldn't order again) darkstar hophead and a westons cider for drinks were lovely

Very good dining experience. Friendly staff, I recommend the savory tarts which are one of their specialties. I also really liked the decor and the pub, very British. 🙌❤️ (LGBTQ+ friendly)

Great luck at the crown, was looking ing for something quick and easy and found just that. Cheeky liquid lunch to go with it but overall a great lunch break

First time visit, definitely won’t be last. Lovely old pub, friendly staff a bonus. Food was fantastic & reasonable. Couldn’t fault the food. Would definitely recommend the Chargrilled Chicken with Chorizo, delicious, as was the Fish & Chips. Thank you for an enjoyable meal 😊

The team at the Crown one of the most friendly inviting team you could ever come across. Out of all the pubs in London and we tested a lot, I would recommend this than any other pub we’ve been to. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing. Highly recommend!

Very cute and traditional pub right in the middle of Soho, busy sometimes, but have a very quiet and relaxing dining room, which is a fantastic break on busy trip.

We arrived by pure chance, we're still at the table and it's just incredible! Top decor, fish and chips really good!!! The young girl upstairs was really charming with us despite our very French accent!

I ordered a Chicken Salad..It was ok, it's not what I expected but anyway nice place.

This is such a lovely cosy place with friendly staff who are easy to have a chat with , love to come here for a couple of pints with my husband :)) they also do live music on Thursdays and Saturdays which is always a treat !!

My mum and I loved the whole place, the history of it, the proximity to the theatre, the staff were very attentive and easy to chat to and the food was lovely and freshly cooked.

Very good quality fish and chips accompanied by homemade tartare and pea puree. A real Irish pub for the decoration. The young girl who served us upstairs was charming, just a shame about the somewhat cold welcome on the ground floor.

It was 10:45 pm on a Saturday it was pack and nice music playing , the place is very pretty out side and look like perfect to have a nice memory of london . Just wanted to get a beer and drink it out side of the building . But they denied me the entrance i explain i just wnat one beer . But the guy at the entrance say Go away.. Thats is unacceptable he should have not say that. I believe then dont want customers if you odnt look drunk or like having money.

Our reserved table was ready for us at our requested time. Service could have been a bit quicker, there was just the one member of staff in the upstairs dining room which eventually filled up. All our meals were very good, however the food served in bowls - eg my shepherds pie - were thermo-nuclear-solar hot after being heated in the microwave. We had to let 2 of our 3 meals stand for 10 minutes before attempting to eat them. We were also served 2 pints of Fullers Pride which were off - not clearing and tasting of vinegar. I noticed as soon as the drinks were delivered to our table, but the member of staff didn't. He did change them for us after we had made him aware. The bill wasn't too bad. All in all, a rather pleasant dining experience but some things could be done a little better.

Pop in here occasionally, staff good and getting a seat by the window is excellent as well for people watching. No means a regular visitor but don't think ever left without enjoying ourselves.

Booked a table on Sunday today for the Sunday roast. Thought this place being in the Nicholson’s Pub group, it could be good since another pub in the group was fully booked for Sunday. It wasn’t as expected. Maybe the location or the day, not sure. But I was the first person in the restaurant upstairs. Ok, no big deal. Others came in a bit later. Ordered the beef for the roast. Looked good, snapped a quick photo and tucked in. Food was cold. Not ice cold but cold. Not sure what happened between plating and serving. The gravy was warm so it heated up the food. Flavour-wise , can’t complain. The Yorkshire pud, though, was extremely oily. I pressed on it and it oil oozed out. A shame really.

A disappointing visit...the food was lukewarm and when I mentioned this to the waitress there was no response...the service charge had already been added to the bill, I should've asked for it to be taken off

the food here tasted like rubber I ordered the fish goujons and they tasted awful like cardboard! the FOOD POISING I suffered after this was not worth the £9 or the grief afterwards!!!!

Arrived at 5:30 & there was no food available, place was full, atmosphere busy, but this place needs updating. Tables moved when people put their drinks on them, very dark inside needs lighting up

Large head on beer, staff not quite sure what they are doing. Gave us the wrong order, but made out to be our fault, didn’t apologise, eventually gave us what we asked for, but no apology and at the end didn’t even ask how it was, not the most welcoming. Though the chef was very cheery at the beginning.

Very good burger and draught ale. Would come back here, except that the stuff is pretty overwhelmed, resulting in slow delivery of the food.

Alright. We had eaten in a restaurant of the same chain 2 days before. The cuisine is very good with very well made specialties: meat pies, fish and chips, good beers. Just the service a little less friendly than the restaurant 2 days before

English pub on two floors. Above you eat, below you drink. The service is a little hasty and the girl in charge in the room a little hasty, but she answered our questions about the dishes in a kind and helpful way. The dishes we took were good, we were satisfied. Good beer too and whiskey selection too. I advise. But you have to book for dinner because the room is small. Also the kitchen closes early. Prices normal for London.

I don't understand how this restaurant could be rated well. Absolutely miserable service, the beer tastes like water, the food was mixed up and the wrong food was delivered. Our food had several hairs in it, absolutely rubbish. Not recommended.

Conner was a wonderful bartender, had a nice meal, really enjoyed the motown they were playing while there.

Nice spot good atmosphere. Calm and quite upstairs perfect for families. Unfortunately they did not have any beef burgers available. I had shepherds pie which comes with deep fried broccoli and cold roasted carrots/ gravy Advice from chef to chef, toast that veggies at least with oil on the frying pan if you cook them 2 hours before for your mise en place and tell chef mike to cook that pie 4 minutes instead of 5 that was solid hot all the way to the end. ( mw effect ) My wife had fish and chips totally on the spot thank you. I would recommend it as a chef but not gonna have that pie again for sure.

Lovely old historic Soho boozer. Still can't get used to paying £7.50 a pint but that's everywhere now, not just this place. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food.

Everything was great! Our server, was absolutely delightful, very sweet and attentive. We were served quickly and food came out swiftly. I had the chicken and chorizo with broccoli stem which was 10/10 (though I thought the portion was a little on the small side…). My friend had the classic beef burger which he rated 8/10. Only suggestion on what to improve is, to offer normal tonic water as opposed to slimline(!) it ruins a gnt! Very disappointed when my gin came with the slimline tonic despite me saying I specifically didn’t want that.

A lovely pub with fantastic staff and lovely food. The pub was busy but the staff were so vigilant and attentive we didn’t once wait to be served. The food surpassed our expectations and we will happily return.

I have exceptionally fond memories of this pub. I used to use it after work on a Friday or if on a return to trip out.

Reserved a space for the Blur fan club, we were treated fantastically. Highly recommended the food too. They were low on stock but still got to enjoy a pie. It was busy with a great atmosphere too.

It’s a traditional London pub that is prone to getting packed due to its location on a busy crossroads in Brewer Street. This is a solid Nicholson’s pub serving cask ales, classic pub grub and has a traditional interior. This pub was built in 1839 on the site of Hickford's Long Room. Hickford’s Long Room was a public concert room which ran from 1713 until 1787, a nine year old Mozart played here in 1765. ℹ️ Original visit 21.07.17

I highly recommend this pub for the great friendly vibes and the food is lovely in the dining area upstairs. I had steak and ale pie which has recently been added to the menu and it was delicious. Staff were very accomodating.

Was a great place to relax and enjoy a great meal, there were 11 of us and we all got out food together, staff were friendly and helpful, food was fantastic, everyone enjoyed their choices and we were eyeing up the others. Looking foward to going back to try the other food.

What a lovely place this is - went there as a group for a colleague’s leaving meal and it was brill. The ambience is just something else and all the staff are lovely… food was just as great (had the halloumi chips, nachos and plant burger)! We were upstairs which is far more cosier than just a ‘dining room’ as it was called … and really makes you feel at home. Absolutely worth a visit and I’d definitely recommend!!

Sweet little gem. Very cosy, very atmospheric old victorian pub, a bit out of the beaten track, far from madness of main soho. Fantastic team that makes this place just as it should be.

Many dishes on the menu were no longer available at the beginning of the evening. The burgers are a bit simple for the price, but the pies are highly recommended ** update: thx for your reaction, I wasn't visiting on a sunday, but apparently that was a good idea either ;-)
