Are here twice during our recent stay and may be back once more! This place has had a facelift and does some great food including breakfasts. Good choice of food and very friendly staff. We will make a point of returning here next time we stay in London.

Unfortunately, I’m very disappointed with the pompous service I received today from a female waiter. I came with a friend who just started a new job and I wanted to celebrate this event with the finest tea. Unfortunately, the waitress was obnoxious and when we asked for a blue tea she became impatient and kept asking ‘ which one we want’ without any attempt to describe the teas you offer. After a while, the waiter brought the bill ( we didnt ask for it), placed on the table and stated: „ just to let you know that we are closing in 15 min” and provided me with the card reader, without giving me opportunity to look at the bill and prepare the cash/ card payment. The bill included 12.5% of service charge which regrettably I paid. Very bad service, I was under impression that the waitress hated her job and didn’t want to be there. What a shame.

3 adult friends went for 30th birthday VIP afternoon treat. Saw predominantly good reviews online beforehand, but should have listened to all reviews! Not much is explained about the experience on the C+S website so we were left to find out on the day... You're made to wait in the busy cafe 15 mins before start time. 14 people are hearded down the stairs into a basement room past all the stock ingredients for the cafe. Not magical at all. We were given cloaks to wear and cheap looking wands were available on broken hooks hanging off the walls. Music playing was from a Spotify fee account which is disappointing when you're left in a room full of strangers eating tea without magic or mystery and Spotify ads being served over the speakers. We were a group of 3 and while they say on the FAQ page that you are sat as close to each other as possible, on tables of two, it also says you won't be sat on the opposite side of the room. I was sat on a table with a stranger on a different row on the opposite side of the room which was really sad. The welcome potion was coloured water - Can't believe we paid for that! The Hubble Bubble cauldron drink we didn't experience at all! Refund due? The selection of sandwiches were poor quality considering the upstairs cafe gets decent ratings. And the one 'surprise' which we were lead to believe was worth the wait at the end (clearly an addition following everyone's poor reviews here + people leaving half way through) was a spoonful of ice cream with some crumbled biscuit. No candy floss for vegans apparently. The herbal tea of choice was meant to be bottomless, but this wasn't told to us at all! I noticed afterwards. Again, refund due? The 1 cocktail included in the VIP package is priced at £9.50 - of the cocktails of choice I went for the rum and butterscotch - Wasn't told it wasn't vegan even though I was marked out as vegan! And my friends who did try it didn't like it at all, the dairy had separated in the drink. The aspects meant to separate the VIP package (£79.50) from the normal package (£49.50) were the 1 cocktail (see above) + a goodie bag. I was expecting the goodie bag to be work £20.00 minimum to make up for the difference in price. It was a sham! It was a cheap bag with crackers, a box of tea and milk chocolate (for the vegan?!) in it. Again, refund due? It was such a disappointment, I am genuinely sad that I wasted my money and my friends' time. Looking at other afternoon tea experiences at the Ritz, Fortnum & Mason etc. these appear to be about the same price, or cheaper than the VIP package at C+S. Deffo do the research beforehand + read ALL reviews to manage your expectations!

Let’s start with the good. We were 30min late for our reservation but they still seated us upon arrival without fuss. The staff were all very polite. The food was mostly tasty. The bad - Food portions were very small considering the price. Smaller portions are common in fine dinning establishments but I did not feel the prices were justified here. Some strange choices such a fish with potato chips. I thought this refereed to the chips you’d usually get with fish, but it was a handful of unsalted crisps. Service was slow, we asked for everything to come out at the same time but they did not. Starters came first, with some missing and only coming after the main meal after a remainder. Some missing liquor options. Heater not well situated for table so it good a bit chilli (outdoor seating).

Had a lovely meal in Sabines whilst staying at the hotel to visit the Chelsea flower show. There were lots of choices on the menu to suit everyone.I had a wonderful non-alcoholic cocktail which tasted like lemon sherbet. We we served by Kamil who has such a nice personality.Very helpful and gave us advice on choices. All the staff had a smile on their faces and seemed very friendly.
