,.Great service. Other than that, basic food in high prices very small portions, simply not good enough Comparing to the chef's resterants in Israel its a bad joke.

We love this Soho restaurant, especially sitting at the bar watching the chefs cook their delicious food. We chose a variety of dishes and loved everyone. The cauliflower and pork were my particular favourites. The pork was cooked just slightly pink, just how I love it. Perfect service from a delightful team. Can't wait to go back. • Baharat bread with whipped butter • Hummus Masabacha • Seasonal House Pickles • Turmeric Cauliflower Mshat with Apricot Harissa • Chicken Labanieh, Yoghurt Sauce, Chilli Butter, Burnt Onion • 50 Day Aged Pork Chop, Roast Peaches, Basil (Also posted to my food blog on Instagram @AbbeyKing16)

Friends suggested this restaurant for us when looking for somewhere for a wedding anniversary meal in London. We both absolutely loved it! From the moment we first sat down in the modest yet accommodating restaurant, we felt comfortable and full of anticipation. We were given two free glasses of sparking wine straight away in recognition of us celebrating our anniversary - a lovely touch. The menu offered a variety of tapas style dishes, many ideas and flavours new to our palates and we asked the waitress for some suggestions. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious - their speciality bread is wonderful and a real party piece as it is revealed. We left feeling delighted with our meal in a real gem of a restaurant that we may not have booked if it hadn’t been through reputation/word of mouth. If you’re able to visit or have been advised to visit like we were, please do. An outstanding restaurant that we look forward to visiting again in the future.

Once upon a time- several years ago before the Pandemic— we came to Palomar and gave it five stars. There were these great Israeli chefs and they made amazing food and the atmosphere was fun. Our first night back in London we rushed to the Palomar. We were looking forward to it. Huge disappointment in every way. The Israeli chefs do not appear to be there. There is a new chef who is not Israeli. We were seated outside on cramped uncomfortable chairs. The service was awful. A waitress spilled food on my daughter and didn’t seem concerned that she ruined her favorite pants. Speaking of the food it was very bad. Not only bad but in very small portions. I asked for mineral water and was given tap water instead. They charged me 2 pounds for tap water I did not ask for. My daughter ordered hummus which came on a micro plate without a pita. In absolutely no place in Israel are you served hummus without a basket of fresh pitas. It is unheard of. We were shocked - was she supposed to eat hummus with a spoon? So we asked for pita. One single burned pita arrived. We were charged 3 pounds for the pita. Hummus was bland. Sesame schnitzel was passable. Pickles were lousy (in Israel pickles are freaking delicious). Tomato salad essentially was cut up cherry tomatoes. Our two small chicken plates were spiced wrong and undercooked. We were too tired to send them back so hopefully we won’t get sick from undercooked chicken. The potatoes were fine. The cheesecake was disgusting. Not like any other cheesecake I have eaten in Israel or any other place on earth. The service charge is included (which is likely why they don’t feel the need to give you any service). A lousy unpleasant meal for 120 pounds. We will never return.

Ate here recently and really enjoyed the experience. We sat at the bar overlooking the cooking which was still quite comfortable with plenty of room. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Yes portions aren’t large and it isn’t cheap but neither were a major issue for us. We both felt full when we finished and the quality of food and service made us feel it was money well spent. Would definitely recommend and you need to book if you want to eat here.

Modern Israeli Cramped, Hurried, Rip Off Joint My partner and I are a laid-back, unfussy, not unfashionable, professional couple living in the heart of London (South Bank), who have been eating out in Central London regularly since we were students more than 20 years ago. The couple who joined us at Palomar earlier this week might be described similarly, save that they’re from North London. They also eat somewhat less than we do and are more into the catch-ups than the food. We usually go to places with a prix fixe menu at lunchtime. These are usually not so heavy on portions and calories, have nicely complimentary dishes, and quite often are something of a bargain. Our unpleasant experience of Palomar was as follows: on arrival on time for our 2:15pm late lunch we were nicely greeted, but rather heavily invited to cloakroom our coats etc, which we declined, to the evident bewilderment of the greeter, leaving us a little uncomfortable; we quickly understood the greeter’s reaction, however – the restaurant is largely a narrow corridor bar with bar stools, with a tiny dining area proper of half a dozen or so tables at the far end (think of a thermometer, and you’ll have the shape right), with no room to swing anything in the corridor or dining room; we very closely seated to another table, and had difficulty taking off our coats and indeed getting seated, despite none of us being more than medium framed and sized (so anybody who is any sense XL or beyond would be very uncomfortable); we had hardly taken our seats when we were provided with the a la carte menu and offered still and sparkling water (which it later transpired was not free, if it wasn’t expensive); we had to ask for the prix fixe menu, which made us feel a bit awkward; we ordered three inexpensive cocktails, recommended on the prix fixe menu; we had hardly received our cocktails, when we were asked to place our orders; upon doing so, we were informed that because one of us was eating off the a la carte menu, we all had to; we indicated there could be no justification for such a policy (implicitly other than to rip-off customers), only for one of the waiters (we had four during our time there!) to say he did not make the rules and it was standard practice elsewhere, to which a few of us replied ‘rubbish’; I suggested we drink-up and move on, but as one of us wasn’t in the best of health, we had much to catch-up on, and none of us wanted unpleasantness, we ill-advisedly carried on, as all of us wish we hadn’t at the end; without invitation, another waiter attempted to make suggestions as to what we might order from the a la carte menu we were obliged to use, before we asked him to come back after we’d had time to think about our re-order; we ordered 3 starters (2 x baba ganoush etc, and 1 x anchovies), served without any bread (obliging us to order something to go with it, namely a bready / cakey sweet thing at £7.00 recommended by the waiter, which wasn’t great), 2 very small chicken mains (which came totally unaccompanied too), and 3 sides our friends were happy to make do with; the house bottle of wine (at £33) arrived before we’d finished our cocktails, and our glasses were rather too quickly filled, almost after every sip, so that we had to stop drinking it for a while; a waiter told us at just before 3pm that the kitchen was closing for savoury dishes; at just before 4pm we were asked to vacate our table for the ‘evening’ service; and our bill of about £170 (less cocktails) included a 15% service charge. Of course, had we been able to eat off the prix fixe menu we’d have ordered more food, a second bottle of wine, and spent a lot more money. So that’s some consolation. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

Revisited Palomar, having been just before lockdown in 2020, resulting in fond memories, but the memories quickly faded because despite the food still being good, the portions are now tiny, and it was all about the money. A lunch with friends who all have different food restrictions, (one pescatarian who cant tolerate chili, one fussy vegetarian), meant that one out of four of the party wanted a la carte selections, whilst the other three chose the prix fixe, but that, apparently is not allowed. The staff were gracious on the whole but there was a feeling of pushiness into chosing, and into leaving. Had they been more accomodating, we would have undoubtedly ordered more courses and many more drinks, but we left and spent our money elsewhere, and I won't be returning.

Missed the old days of the Palomar….. when the menu was truly enchanting and diverse and portions were not sampling portions like today. Success came naturally and was well deserved. Unfortunately it was constantly downhill too soon after the opening. Sorry guys…. You definitely know what to do…. stop the compromise and the greed and get back to what you were … top !

It has been 4 years since my last visit, and I have to say I was disappointed, either a new chef or new (private equity ownership). The place and vibe is lovely, but the food was over priced and over spiced, lacking the amazing flavors I had previously been served. The steak £36 was the low light of the meal. I had over sold Palomar to my lunch partner, making excuses for it not being as good as I remembered.

I'm not entirely sure how to categorize the food here. It's Mediterranean with a mix of Israeli, Spanish and African flavors. We needed a reservation, even on a Monday in January. You can choose to sit at the counter and watch them make the food, or in a small dining room in the back. We did the prix fixe which gave you a decent assortment of dips and small plates, letting you try a little bit of everything. I recommend the kubaneh bread. It's fresh baked and it's easy to tear off and use on the variety of dips. The tahini butter and the pumpkin dip were particularly good. We also enjoyed the chicken labenieh, which were nicely charred bits of chicken on a yogurt sauce. The Jerusalem polenta was nice and creamy with large pieces of oyster mushrooms. We spilt the baklava ice cream sandwich, which were two small squares of baklava with pistachio ice cream in the middle. The only criticism is that there is no time between dishes. The family style thing would be OK, but the tables were so small, there just wasn't room. Which meant we pretty much had to work quickly through one thing at a time to make room. The servings were very small, but with the variety, we still left full.

Cold Tuesday in January and this place was crammed. Book ahead - we arrived a little early for our 830 booking and were politely asked to wait as the table wasn't ready. What's good? Everything. Everything. Did I say everything? And we did our best to try a lot of everything. The gluten free bread is simply the best I have tasted anywhere (baharat) paired with the labneh and Tirshi. Hispi cabbage, pargit chicken and crispy potato - all divine. The ability to be able to mix the order and continually add to it if we developed food envy was amazing. Dessert also incredible we had the sweet labneh with meringue utterly incredible. Staff very welcoming and service excellent. We had a seat at the bar which was the best craic with a great team. A must visit in London we'll be back for sure!

We planned a family get-together for Saturday lunch. As soon as you walk in, the ambience is warm and welcoming. We looked at what seemed to be a fine and varied menu, only to realise that we would receive everything on it. Bring it on! It would take too long to list all the star dishes, but special mention needs to be made of the Chicken Labanieh, Yoghurt Sauce, Chilli Butter & Burnt Onion main course. Secondly, the Pine Nut Tart with Labneh Mousse was stunning. This is fine Middle Eastern cuisine. You won't leave this place hungry, and hopefully you will have enjoyed your meal as much as we enjoyed ours. Special mention to all the staff: they were wonderfully attentive, and fun too. Definitely recommended!

I had booked with my wife and 2 friends visiting London. We heard it was great food and we were all excited to go. About an hour before our reservation out 3 year sold cut his chin falling down the stairs and we took him to Chelsea and Westminster hospital where he had stitches. Our friend called 5 times to cancel the reservation but could not get through. While at the hospital the restaurant called and informed us they were going to charge our card. We explained that we were in hospital. They asked when our son injured himself and refused to allow us to cancel our reservation. They didn’t once ask if our son was alright and the lady was quite rude. As someone who works in hospitality I was shocked by their behaviour. We are looking at legal actions regarding our treatment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This was incredible experience! Food was absolutely fantastic. Staff was very friendly. We arrived about kitchen closing time, but we were able to have dinner - thanks to kind staff. Highly recommend to visit.

Absolutely loved it! We started with some really fresh and tasty cocktails, took out waiters advice on the starter which was various Isreal style salsas with this amazing soft bread then had crab kofta. Octopus and chicken all of which were absolutely incredible. Can’t emphasise...

Had a brilliant meal at The Palomar. We sat at the bar for the experience of seeing the food prep and really enjoyed it. The bread was superb, soft and delicious. The cabbage was amazing too. Service was excellent and overall we had a great...

The food was average and overpriced for what you got. The crab kofta tasted of fish and is a small starter portion. I disliked the service. Our waiters (they kept changing) were very efficient but did not explain the menu properly and when I asked...

I thought the restaurant wasn’t anything out of this world. The dips were very good but weren’t one of the best I have ever had. NOTE: My sister and I ordered the chicken and we started eating it until I noticed it was RAW. Wouldn’t...

Have loved this lively Soho restaurant for years and it is still excellent. Vibrant Middle Eastern flavours and great breads - sit at the counter and enjoy interacting with the chefs.

We dined at The Palomar multiple times when it first opened back in 2014 and it was one of our favourite restaurants in London. Last week we returned for our first post-lockdown visit, and were sorely disappointed. The food was not a patch on what...

This is the third time we have been there and in this occasion we sat at a table instead of the bar as we booked in advance. It was nice but you feel very squashed because of their space maximisation. The food is always spectacular...

First return visit after lockdown end and The Palomar remains a stunning restaurant and one of my absolute favourites in London. The energy, originality and freshness of the menu is first class. Secure a seat at the counter for a theatre like experience watching the...

The food was interesting and different. Perhaps my favourite being the octopus but we had a number of interesting dishes and dips. People complain about the space and service. The service is wonderfully and efficient but if you don't want to feel rushed order each...

I was excited to go the The Palomar having heard many nice things about it. I have to say that I was a little disappointed...it was very cramped ...they could not have squeezed another table into the dining room. And boy did the food come...

The only place to sit is at the counter but the seats are too close especially in the times we live in. Kubaneh Brioch style bread with Tahini is filling and good and the char grilled Octopus is also to be recommended.

Great experience sitting at the bar and being able to watch the chefs do their thing. The baharat bread, zucchini tahini, spicy experience and chicken were great. The beef tartare and white bean dip were underseasoned. Overall a great experience and very good food

As numerous reviews mention, it’s a charming place. I was surprised it was not busy on a Saturday evening but now I know why. The staff are more interested in chatting to their friends than attending to a customer, and it’s outrageously expensive. £ 8 for a pint and they wanted me to buy two in advance if I used a card!!!

Quite a nice location, right by Sherlock Holmes’ the famous Baker Street 221B. I went in as it was buzzing and filled to the brim. Shannon was quite welcoming and very nice that she accommodated me with a table for one - yeah I was traveling alone. Authentic Brit pub food, drinks and vibe. All in all a good evening. I would love to go for a Sunday roast if time permits.
