A good French Brasserie at a reasonable price. I love the decor and the food is excellent. Service is quick and efficient, which is important if you are there before a show. There is a prix fixe menu and daily specials. I love to eat there whenever I am in London.

Zedel is ideal for birthday celebrations. I booked a late lunch (to allow 10 people to travel into London from a variety of locations). The Zedel cafe was a great place to meet up before we went down to our table. The age range of our group was 15 to 80 and the menu had something appealing for everyone including the vegetarians. All our dishes were very much enjoyed. The high quality red and white house wines accompanied our meals well, following celebratory champagne. The restaurant staff were friendly and very efficient. The birthday cake that I was able to order (secretly!) in advance was a great surprise to all and served as requested after the main course, with my special message piped on it's edible plaque. Zedel without being asked provided a cake box to take the remaining cake home. It had been a very large cake! I would like to thank all at Zedel for making this a very special day.

Booked this restaurant for a special first wedding anniversary meal before going to see Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre. What a beautiful place! I was taken a back at how grand the restaurant was. The service was excellent and very professional and we were made to feel like important guests. Eating in this restaurant is an experience in itself, and I was impressed by the efficiency of how the restaurant was run. The food was delicious. I had French onion soup to start which was all that I expected it to be, and to cap it all off we were presented with a special anniversary surprise from the waitress - some beautiful macaroons on a plate with lettering wishing us a happy anniversary! What a lovely touch, and this was a beautiful ending to a special dining experience. Thanks to all at the restaurant, and i'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a very special dining experience!

We discovered this brasserie in the Piccadilly theater district by coincidence. First the extensive menu is what attracted us to go in. Then we discovered the gorgeous art deco dining room in the basement. Wow!!! Excellent service, great food and amazing French bistro atmosphere. We absolutely loved our experience! Highly recommended!

Apart from the fabulous food, first rate service and value, this has got to be one of the most wonderful Art Deco spaces in London. But make sure you eat downstairs. Booking advisable they do keep walk-in capacity but no surprises, it fills pretty quickly at peak times. We will be back (and back) again.

Was very disappointing overall frog legs and both fish entrees were over cooked. We order drinks after our first course when plates were cleared and we were told our dish’s were coming ( obviously some thing went wrong because tables that came after ours were already on coffee and checks). When asked if we were interested in the dessert menu and coffee we declined but had the wait an addition 15 min for check. We did enjoy our server and he was working very hard but there were to many tables and very few support staff. Looked as if there were several floor managers doing very little when the tiniest bit of effort would have turned the tides for many tables.

The food isn’t what it used to be. The salads were ice cold. The mains were probably the only enjoyable thing. We had the coq au vin, the chopped steak - a little too saucy for our liking but the cheese soufflé was nice. The deserts were very eggy in taste - the creme caramel was partly curdled. The cups smelled like they haven’t been washed (or washed around something fishy or eggy). The interior acoustics were so bad that we found ourselves speaking very loudly to be heard. Slightly disappointing, but for the price point (£20-£30 per person) it’s fine.

We've been to Zedel a number of times. We found our visit on Thursday evening was good, however the service was slow due to it being very busy, with hindsight we prefer a lunchtime visit. The food was good as usual, with a broad ranging menu at decent prices. We were positioned next to the band which was a little noisy for our liking. We would continue to recommend.

This was a second visit to the restaurant, as previously we had an enjoyable meal, and service was very good. HOWEVER, on this second visit the difference was the opposite, Our server was surely, miserable, and very sloppy. When clearing dishes from the table he dragged a dirty plate brushing along my arm with sauce smeared onto my clothing. He knew that he did so and just gave me a sheepish smile, with no apology. Also on this occasion (celebrating my own and my other diner's birthdays) the food was very much 'so-so', nowhere near what we had experience on our previous visit. Very unhappy ☹️

Disappointing. The sirloin was very tough. Service was slow and random. Felt rushed. Spent a fair amount on wine but was not given the time to drink it. Had to leave the table. The dessert was good. Very noisy. The lighting was harassing - too much light. They were eventually dimmed but it was once we left the table. They really need a dress code. The way some people were dressed makes the place look really downmarket. Will not recommend.

Had a family night out. The decor and architecture is fantastic and sets the scene like from a movie set. Brilliant first impression. The problem began with the waiter who was unfriendly and unhelpful and rude. Simple questions on wine list were dismissed. Service was extremely slow and the head waiter came to our table to apologise. We informed him about the waiter and he removed the service charge from the bill along with the deserts. The gesture was very kind and appreciated but the night was spoiled by the behaviour of the rude waiter. The food was tasty and delicious . We will go back and give it another try however and hopefully we may have been unlucky on the night with the waiter we had.

If you’re looking for a great atmosphere with nice music, this is a great place. However the service and food were very underwhelming. The server was rude from the start, never smiling once, and he was not attentive. When we were done with dessert and drinks, we started to get impatient waiting for the check - due to the lack of attentiveness we were going on being at the restaurant over 2 hrs. After a while, we decided to start a timer to see how long it would actually take him to make an appearance. We tried to be as patient and understanding as possible but once we hit 25 minutes, we got annoyed and went to ask the maitre d’ for our bill. He then had to hunt down another waiter as ours was still nowhere to be found. As far as the food goes we had steak, which was less than stellar. Fries came out cold and the steak had 0 flavor. You could tell the steak was cooked earlier in the day and not fresh. Both steaks were cooked about medium well when we had asked for medium and medium well. Again it’s great for the atmosphere, but I’d recommend elsewhere for food.

Not welcoming downstairs at all. We all dressed up and really polite and wasn't busy but the host makes us wait while she does something then tells us we are standing in the way of people. 1. There were no people. 2. If there were its not easy to know where to stand when host is ignoring you . 3. Even if we are standing in the way of something don't treat paying customers having a nice night out like they are school children in detention . 4. Make customers feel welcome. We were nothing but nice and shy so said nothing. Then we sit down finally and no one really comes to us . Absolutely awful. Then we finally get drinks and half hearted service and sloppy . No way will I go to this place again.

Started really well from the reception to the waitress then she did disappeared (maybe on her break !) Then it is like no one was looking after the row of tables we were in, waiter yawning in front of everyone !!? (Hand maybe !), we did asked him for desert menu then after 10mn asked him for the bill then he waited for the waitress to come back to give it to us... While i was paying i did asked for service to be removed which lead to wait for sometimes to get a manager to come and apologize as he was told i was upset (service charge is optional still i believe) Some dishes are merely a twist an classic french food Brasserie zedel is not what it used to be The staff from the restaurant downstairs has so much to learn from Zedel Cafe on the ground floor where the service from the doorman to the waiter is on point !

Honestly… underwhelmed by this place. The food was good which saved the experience but I booked the restaurant for my sisters birthday- wrote in the notes about the celebration- we were met with an obviously stressed and over worked server.. It really showed. We went above and beyond to try and make them feel better and again I don’t know what they were experiencing personally but as someone who’s worked in service before, If the customer can sense you’re not okay- they are not okay.. our entrees took forever to come out and someone else needed to wait on us as the server was obviously in distress about their section. When we can pick up on this energy it makes the experience tainted and unfair. I will not recommend this to anyone who asks and not return to this place again.

It’s an affordable French cuisine in London~ It is also the scene in Monsters and Where to Find Them where Dumbledore and Grindelwald, played by Uncle McGregor, have a meal! The food is delicious, but not amazing, and the portions are not big. A full meal may cost 50 pounds per person (this time we went because we were very full at the previous meal, so it was just right for five people, which is about 30 pounds per person) However, the environment, atmosphere, service and live music are all remarkable. This restaurant feels like being in Paris. Management has done an impressive job at recreating the atmosphere of a Parisian 1920s brasserie. The food as you can imagine is a bit price but you can ask for unlimited bread and butter. I have had a couple dishes but the best quality price adjusted item is the burger. The staff is friendly and quick. Additionally the restaurant is open until quite late, which is rare in London. One of our favourite plans is to go to the theatre and then go to Zedel. Finally, Amex has a couple discounts for the restaurant so you do not pay the “full” price. NOTE TO THE RESTAURANT: please do not automatically include the service charge in the bill.

Tables & buffets neat, floor polished & a smell of Brasso in the air. Then all the good work ended. The lad left a 3/4 full pint in front of the hand pull while trying to top up another. Despite our attempts to alert him, he pulled, and beer went everywhere. He honestly did not seem like he’d worked a bar before. Our “pints” were an inch short & a request to top them up still didn’t fill the glasses. Other customers were left to wait while the spilled mess was cleaned up, while fruit tubs were messed around with, while napkin boxes were refilled. A French-sounding couple ordered a Neckoil which they were given with a huge head. By the time they’d got back to their table & beer had settled, they had 3/4 of a pint at best. If it wasn’t for our past excellent experiences, the rating would be 1/5 based on this time alone.

Stopped off here this afternoon about 1pm and was met by a lovely friendly bar maid who was so accommodating and knowledgeable with her recommendations for choice of beer we decided to stop off again on our way back home. Staff a 6pm, there were two of them, they were totally different! Not the friendly welcome we’d had earlier, indifferent, belligerent and lacked knowledge of their products. 10/10 earlier 5/10 this evening!

A short walk from our rooms and nearer still to Smithfield Market (open 2 am to 10 am, for those wishing to buy their meat earlier in the day), The Viaduct Tavern often is compared to the Princess Louise in the sumptuousness of its decor. But it is more renown as a true Gin Palace, where the list of gin and tonics runs to several pages (we were introduced to a Classic G&T, No. 3), the ice chipped from a glistening block of slowly melting ice. The magnificently foliated red ceiling, which variously has been described as beaten copper or tin, plaster or stucco, actually is Lincrusta, whose inventor changed his formulation for linoleum so it could be applied to walls and ceilings. Downstairs, if Jasmine has the time to show you, is a coal cellar, the hole in the ceiling, the opening through which it was poured from street level. (They’re not the cells of Newgate or a debtor’s prison but no less interesting for that.) Indeed, being able to see the casks from which the Fuller’s London Pride was being pulled is a treat in itself. If you intend to eat there, the ham and cheese toastie is especially good. And, if you also intend to have wine, certainly more than one glass, consider ordering the Saint Marc Sauvignon and taking the unfinished bottle with you. You’ll also want to reserve a seat, which The Viaduct does admirably well. On Thursdays, the busiest day of the week when patrons stand shoulder to shoulder, shouting over one another to be heard, you probably should retreat to Table 5 in the corner, a little nook that offers some refuge from the office workers prematurely celebrating the end of the week. We went there every other evening—always wanting the last experience of the day to be at The Viaduct—a feeling made possible by Jasmine and Sergio (who welcomed us so warmly on our first visit, when we had arrived in London only two hours earlier), Victor and Paige.

It's been a while since I had an off beer, maybe the lines, maybe an infected cask. Someone should have been keeping the beer, poor cellarmanship.
