We enjoyed a warm greeting and a well stocked menu for our business meeting. The staff were attentive yet respectful of the nature of our group and the food was very good indeed. The steak haute with peppercorn is recommended. A good wine list to accompany and then finished with coffee. We will certainly be back.

I have wanted to eat at this spectacular restaurant ever since I stopped for a bite to eat at the café upstairs last Christmas. So on walking down into an incredible world of Art Deco, I was blown away by how beautiful the Brasserie was. As well as the sheer size of the room! It was a particularly cold day, so my choice of Beef Bourguignon was excellent as the taste was divine. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the trio of musicians was a wonderful accompaniment to a delicious lunch. Highly recommended and I very much look forward to returning.

The food is mediocre at best, service is fine, they charge a 15% service charge and 1 pound seating charge, way too expensive for what it is, if you want to do lunch then do lunch, don’t waste your time and money.

Good value for money, good quality food in an art deco atmosphere. This French brasserie is a classic in Central London. They offer 2 and 3 course meals, a dish of the day, and a formula every day of the week (including weekends). You can also order a la carte. I tried the Coq au Vin, a French classic dish, it was very good. When I visited (a Saturday lunchtime) there was a trio playing very nice music. But if you are looking for an intimate small restaurant, this is not the place, it is quite big.

This restaurant truly encapsulates the essence of authentic French dining. From the moment you step through the door, the charming ambiance transports you straight to Paris, complete with elegant decor and soft background music. The menu boasts a thoughtful selection of classic French dishes, each prepared with precision and care. I particularly enjoyed the beef bourguignon, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the crème brûlée—a dessert that was perfection, with its silky custard and delicate caramelized top. The wine list is equally impressive, offering a variety of high-quality choices to complement the meal. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, seamlessly enhancing the dining experience with their warm hospitality and expert recommendations. Whether it's a special occasion or just a desire to indulge in French cuisine, this restaurant is a delightful choice. I will certainly be back!

Not worth it. They charge VAT separately - have you ever seen that at a restaurant? (and service charge). The atmosphere is nice but paying £185 for two steaks (one way too cooked), two starters, two cocktails, a bottle of house wine, and a shared dessert is definitely not worth it.

If you're passing through London, stop by Brasserie Zedel. A magnificent 20th-century bistro setting, with a simple but effective menu that makes an impact. The service is decent, and the waiters are helpful and polite. A small drawback is the noisy environment, but we won't hold that too much of a problem since the dining room is downstairs, so there's a lot of noise, and after all, we're in a bistro atmosphere.

Well, what to say about Brasserie Zedel. I was in London for a work trip and had a wonderful evening here. The food was perfectly cooked and there is a huge choice on the menu with a suitably large wine and drinks choice with wine by the glass if you wish to pair with your meal. Salad de boudin noir came with an appreciable portion of boudin and bacon and a perfectly poached duck egg, the Beouf Bourguignon rich and fall apart in texture with the accompanying salad verte having a delicious annise note to the dressing. Dessert of cherry clafoutis with vanilla ice cream was all I could manage after that but the chariot de fromages was very hard to resist. A magnificent Armagnac VSOP was the perfect finish. Service was attentive, friendly and impeccable and I was genuinely sad that I was only staying one night as I would have loved to visit again - hopefully next trip. Thank you for a fantastic and memorable evening.

The food was good and the atmosphere was great. I think the vibe of the place was somehow unique and we liked it. However, the bill is full of hidden fees that are not mentioned in advance (e.g. a fee just for sitting in the restaurant, ordering tap water and getting charged for still water despite bringing it in the jar) and not mentioning the greedy 15% discrectionary service charge automatically added to the bill. Overall, liked the food but somehow you feel slightly ripped off by loads of things that are not told to you in advance before sitting there. Somehow liked it, somehow dissappointed.

My 5-year-old daughter suffered severe food poisoning after consuming fish at Zedel - truly horrific experience. I've chosen to wait before writing this review, as I've been eating at Zedel for years and wanted to rule out the possibility of a stomach bug and also see what their response would be. I'm certain it was the fish she consumed at the restaurant as it's the only thing different she ate with us that day and no one else in our family has had a stomach bug which are usually very contagious. The fish smelt very strongly when it came to the table and its texture did not look right. She was sick a total of nine times until 4 am, with unmistakable traces of the fish, until her stomach was entirely empty. This was a real ordeal for us all and left her exhausted in bed for the next few days. I reached out to the restaurant, regrettably, Zedel's response was extremely disappointing. They've failed to provide any concrete information regarding how they investigated the matter - the management team have since ignored my emails. This lack of accountability is deeply concerning.

A Grand Introduction to French Cuisine! Brasserie Zedel was the perfect place for my first experience with French cuisine, and it did not disappoint! I decided to stick with more traditional options, starting with Jersey Rock & Loch Ryan Native oysters, along with Escargot with garlic & parsley butter. For my main, I chose the Grilled Fillet of Sea Bream—just in case I didn’t enjoy the other two. Since I had never tried oysters before, the taste was new to me, but I definitely want to try them again as they seem to be an acquired taste. The waiter recommended pairing them with champagne, which I really appreciated, as it helped me get the most out of the experience. The escargot and sea bream were fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the snails! The atmosphere was absolutely incredible. When I posted pictures, some people mentioned it reminded them of the luxurious interiors of the Titanic, and I could see their point—the classic, grand decor really added to the experience. Overall, Brasserie Zedel was an amazing introduction to French cuisine. The setting, the food, and the experience all made it a memorable visit, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to try traditional French dishes in a stunning environment!

Spectacular place, worth a visit to the Brasserie or the American Bar. The food is anything but spectacular. The price and descriptions in the menu do not fit the food. I had the prawn and avocado cocktail and the set the low standard, it seemed to have been made from an old Heinz salad cream acidic and relatively tasteless. The prawns were low quality frozen ones. The coq au vin was totally bland as well. Other people’s meals were equally unimpressive. Great shame as the atmosphere was excellent and I would have liked to make it a regular destination.

Oh no — Brasserie Zédel has gone downhill! I came last Thursday 27th February. The first thing I noticed was poor reception at the cloakroom. The woman was completely frosty and acted like she couldn't care less. Not at all welcoming! To cap that, upon returning my items later in the evening she didn't remember my bobble hat – luckily I remembered and she went back a second time... The restaurant had an unfriendly, unwelcoming woman on the door as well – acting as though she was thinking, 'What are you doing here?' (despite the fact that I was among rhe smartest dressed). She was completely without a smile – totally unlike the brilliant, warm welcomes I've had from men on the door in the past ten years. Maybe psychology is at play (!) but the welcome should be consistent. Then, for the first time ever, I was moved from my table after two hours, but as I was by then alone I didn't mind too much. It was just surprising as in the past I've always stayed all night (despite the bookings being only for two hours). The guys at the bar were very friendly and looked after me, which was nice. And I always have something to read with me. It just added to an 'off' evening. I had the prix fixe with two courses (chopped steak americain, and rhubarb coupe). I'm a seasoned and keen cook, and would say the spinach was lacking flavour; it needed nutmeg and lemon. The peppercorn steak and frites were delicious, each cooked perfectly (perfect 'medium' steak and a fab crunch on the frites). Unfortunately the rhubarb coupe was bland and needed a little vanilla bean or similar. In addition I had expected a warm dessert not an ice – I have sensitive teeth. The menu doesn't reveal that it is very cold (I had imagined stewed rhubarb). Finally, the musicians didn't seem that great this time (I'm involved in professional music) and didn't seem to play well known songs as much as random things. It also seemed an odd sound quality that night – they weren't so audible. The dining room is superb – I always love being in such magnificent Art Deco surroundings, so I always look forward to my visits. However I really hope it's not like this next time...

Brasserie Zédel is like nowhere else in London. Charming and welcoming, Zédel oozes style and luxury in the best traditions of both French and Beaux Arts / deco style and luxury, albeit the origins are heartily English. Here's the best part. The people are nice and the theme is hospitality at an affordable price. I'm a fan. You will be too. But it's not just a restaurant. Visit the Bar Américain for a truly authentic American Bar, and book a show at the Crazy Coqs, 'bringing together all art forms in one extraordinary building, featuring cabaret, music, theatre, comedy, magic and literary events'. After a couple of liveners in the Queen’s Head, (we did not fancy standing outside the super famous and trendy Devonshire in the chill night air), we went down and down into this Zedel basement to the brasserie. The staff are friendly and attentive though not completely responsive to wit, charm and charisma! The one-page large menu card has everything you need on it, and a separate card provides the wine choices. Bread and lovely butter are put on the table and that's where we started. Top Tip - It is useful to keep the bread to mop up the various sources that come with starters. FOOD - we had French onion soup - my buddy has lived in France and said this was the real and authentic deal – rich, slightly sweet and with a cheesy crouton on top – £10, Excellent. I went with the frog’s legs - plentiful and covered in herb and garlic butter, and with a flavoured mayonnaise on the side to make sure you had enough dipping choices. I hadn't had frog’s legs in years and the subtle meat falling off the small bones and is a pleasure to eat as long as you pick it up with your fingers - it would be a nightmare to try and eat this dish with a knife and fork. £16. Then on to the mains - my body had the magret de canard from the specials menu which came with mashed potato and a wine source - £32. I went with the sirloin steak, French fries, Parisian sauce and French lettuce in vinaigrette dressing. The steak was OK - not the best and not the worst, with a chunk of gristle and fat at one end - £39 – Not the perfect dish. WINE - we went for a Corbieres Syrah, that whilst not cheap - £40, was very drinkable – body, complex enough structure, enticing fruity bouquet, and a decent follow through. Very morish. STAFF - The staff were effective, and pleasant enough though lacking in the warmth, confidence and charisma of other stuff we have experienced in London. They could do with some extra client interaction training. BILL - bread, 2 starters, 2 mains, and a decent bottle of red wine, with service - £157. If you were hosting a visitor to London, then this place will impress them. At £80 ahead it is not for every day, but I must say, I liked the experience. Recommended.

Before enjoying an afternoon opera performance, we had a delightful lunch experience. The restaurant's décor was luxurious and stunning, yet the pricing was remarkably affordable for central London. We opted for a 3-course Prix-Fixe menu, which, including a 15% service charge, cost ONLY £23.66 per person. As it was a friend's birthday, the restaurant presented a dessert plate with "Happy Birthday" written in French and complimentary macaron, which were delicious. The service was exceptional—staff were warm, attentive, and passionate about their work, making us feel thoroughly welcomed. While the food's taste wasn't extraordinary, it was decent and offered excellent value for money in London. I would highly recommend this spot to friends and would gladly return when visiting the opera nearby again.

This is a cool restaurant. Converted theatre has a fun vibe and funky decor. The dining room has high ceilings, New York style with fake natural light. Very cool and impressive but lacks a bit of atmosphere. Menu is classic French, and a bit pricy because most dishes come without sides. Two bars in the same place look more cost and really fun. Great location. Service is fast so great for pre/post theatre visits but a bit intensive if you are not in a rush.

Loved the feel of this place. It was extra special that we had a French band playing, felt like I was in a 1940’s French restaurant. Will definitely return.

A great restaurant right next to the Piccadilly Theatre. It's quite unexpected as you walk down flights of stairs and come to the beautiful foyer. Bright and sophisticated decor! A good menu with something for everyone, the food was delicious, I'd recommend dining after the lunch time rush, you get better service. Knowledgeable staff who are polite and professional.

I’ve been here 3 times now and all 3 visits have been great. However, my favourite time to visit is lunch. £16.95 for a top quality 2 course lunch, in amazing surroundings, in central London…..OUTSTANDING. Lovely French beer, wine, bread, salty butter, creamy soup and the star of the show. Steak Hache with peppercorn sauce and fries!! Not to mention the great staff and live French bistro music. I love this place.

I can honestly say this is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Just wow. You cannot get such an atmosphere and good food even in Paris (Paris doesn’t even come close). Everything was impeccable. The building is so beautiful, there was live music, spacious and comfortable sitting, the ambiance was amazing, and the food absolutely phenomenal! My party was French and they said the food was outstanding. I cannot recommend this place enough. It really is worth the splurge.

We hired The Crazy Coqs for a birthday party. The room was beautiful and the staff were very, very helpful.

This is by far one of my favourite restaurants In London. I went with my son for my 60th birthday and Zedel didn't disappoint. The service from the front door to the table is exemplary. The atmosphere is vibrant and the house band played some nice jazz which set the mood perfectly. I was surprised at how busy it was and this only added to the atmosphere. The food was delivered by an attentive and knowledgeable waiter who looked after us very well from the opening of the wine to serving us our food. The food was a mix of French cuisine and the cheeses were delicious. It's not cheap, but for central London I've spent far more and had far worse. Overall great value for money and a brilliant night out.

Beautiful French restaurant in a 1930s style venue, one of a kind. To be able to dine, you need to book about a week in advance, especially for weekend evenings. Dinner includes French dishes and the evening is accompanied by live music, mainly jazz, until 11pm which is also the closing time of the kitchen. The dishes are good, well made but nothing extraordinary, but suited to the price of the evening. I recommend a visit to this Brasserie if you can spend at least £50 per person (the service is not included in the menu prices).

Decent shop with a standard selection of food and drinks. Feels slightly poorly maintained with regular beggars outside

Small very busy pub. Met friends for drinks on a Saturday evening, the place was packed.

Great location, but very poor service, as we only wanted to enjoy coffee and a few cold drinks and didn't want to order food. Apparently, it didn't fit the concept. Exorbitant prices.
