The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Harpenden West St Albans East of England

As ever the Thompsons Close cafe team have looked after us with their friendliness and warm and kind atmosphere. An oasis of peace in a busy world.

We found this coffee shop thanks to the sign in the alley way . We came in through the side gate to a lovely garden space. Then headed inside where there are a couple of tables tucked away. We ordered 4 drinks and sweet and savory baked goods from what was available on display. The savoury scone was delicious and the peanut butter cookie cup was amazing. Great for a catch up over coffee.

After pre-dinner celebrations at Home, we went to Lussmans for dinner in the intimate and atmospheric private dining room. Everyone was delighted with Marianna and Jeddai's exceptional service. The food was excellent, as friends who had never experienced Lussman's qualities before commented! We all left happy the memories will live on.

Food good (though a few items not available), service slow, restaurant empty but for our table - but it was Monday night!

Not good. It rests on its prime location and the staff put in next to no attempt to be pleasant or really anything that might make a visit worth it. They'll depend on passing trade who know no better. But the whole vibe is all about making no effort and on top of that the menu sucks. The portions are tiny. Really disappointed.

Depressing, so best for a quick take out! Seems to be attracting rough 'n ready groups of young men - recently other Costa in town is preferable. The staff appear 100% bored too...

Met up with family for a birthday lunch. Family members had toasted sandwiches but I had the prawn, crab and avocado salad. I ate it as I was hungry but the ingredients weren't good quality. There wasn't much salad only a small bit of iceberg lettuce and a few tomato slices that were unripe and were cut so thin you could see through them. In the middle of the bowl was a big dollop of small prawns with crab and avocado paste all mixed up together with a dressing. I imagined it would be a few king prawns with a couple of crab sticks and pieces of avocado but it was all a mush. Anyway I didn't complain but thought I wouldn't eat that again as it's quite expensive and not worth it. When I got to my mum's house I had to rush to use the toilet super quick as the lunch had run through my system. Very unpleasant, I won't go into detail! This running to the loo went on for a few days. I thought I should let the pub know as they need to know. I phoned them to let them know that they need to be careful when serving prawns and salads etc and was really surprised at the attitude of the lady on the phone. She didn't apologise once and denied that there could have been anything wrong with her food. I'm really disappointed. I live in London and visit Harpenden now and then to see family. Won't be going back there. It's obvious they don't care about their customers. Be careful that their sea food salads might give you diarrhoea.

Really well located pub with modern, characterful bedrooms. Immaculately clean bathroom. Lovely staff. Excellent breakfast in a lovely light dining area. Epic eggs Benedict. There can be some road noise for bedrooms at the front, and there is no car parking, but loads of options surrounding the pub.

We have visited this Costa a few times now and the coffee is always nice and freshly made. The only thing we didn't like was on this occasion a dog was allowed to sit on a seat with an elderly couple and keep it's head on the table. We find that very unhygienic and decided not to get any food. Surely if dogs are allowed keep them on the floor.

Nice people...... great location, my wife loves the coffee... and it is open later that all the other cafes in Harpenden. Its why we really go there.... However, the place is always in an absolute mess, we have been in 12-15 times in the last few months. We always have to clear the table and then ask if we can clean it. They just pass me a cloth ha ha ha... unreal ! As I said the staff are nice, however, are always chatting with clients rather than working, and cleaning up. The cake containers are also really really dirty, the cafe floor and bathroom is always very dirty. As I said, nice people, however the cafe is a mess...... such a shame.
