Always a stop on visiting the High Street. Fantastic food and staff. Shame some customers cannot read the '6 at one time' notice !

Great coffee! Would definitely highly recommend! I had a latte and my bf had black amo, we both enjoyed. The staff is really friendly!

Always lovely and friendly staff willing to go the extra mile (even running to the store if out of marmite!)The shop layout looks lovely with so much to choose from. I’ve tried many different things and loved everything! Would like to see some of the old sweet bakes back soon! And many some more veggie sandwich options.I feel the safety measures put in place are good.Highly recommend!

Simmons is a cornerstone of life in my old hometown Harpenden , whilst the restaurant wasn’t operational on my last visit the takeaway food is well above average and very tasty. Heaven knows how long it’s been in Harpenden I moved there in 1978 and I seemed part of the furniture

Called in for breakfast but was forced to leave as there was no organised customer service. Despite waiting more than 10 mins, customers at the bread counter were served long before those waiting for coffee and breakfast. Some order needs to be put in place to provide timely and fair service. It was also very disappointing to see dirty floors and tables. This is inexcusable.

This place has improved in terms of staff training. The egg and bacon sarnies and baps were delicious and crispy but not too dry like previous. Thanks for the improvement as this is our local so a big thumbs up and we will be back soon.

I have never eaten in but often get food to take away for myself and the girls I work with. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The quality of the food is good and reasonably priced.

A tasty lunch, great range of sandwich options, types of bread etc. Fantastic range of cakes and traybakes. Worth a stop for lunch to eat in or takeaway.

We had a quick breakfast here before heading to the London train. Quite ok traditional English breakfast and a reasonable price.

As in my previous reviews, there is little effort to clean tables and floors. Previous customers cups and plates remain uncollected for long periods. It is a pity as the food is generally good but I have lost patience with this lack of effort and have decided not to return.

This is a good place to buy a pudding, a treat to a little one or a freshly made sandwich to stay or take on the go. They have great selection of gingerbread biscuits - Croissants - Cakes - French patisseries - Savoury sandwiches - Jackets.

We often pop here for lunch after visiting the Farmers Market in Harpenden. Nice for a hot drink and a tasty sandwich with one of the many amazing cakes to finish off. Could do with clearing tables a bit quicker when people leave but otherwise friendly staff and served quite quickly.

There is not much more to say! My partner talks very highly of this bakery and went to get us both pastries from Simmons a few weeks back as part of our Sunday brunch.. Sadly both were stale and whilst edible were not enjoyable at all! I will not be returning! Whilst the bread might be baked fresh everyday the pastries are clearly not!

I had a chicken coronation baguette here which was lovely but it was so expensive! I daren’t try the sausage rolls again as last time was such a disappointment. Nothing like a good Greggs unfortunately, but the choice of bread here is definitely nicer!

Best bakers in the world but they are a little pricey and the staff are in such a rush it’s hard to feel welcome

I have known Simmons for donkeys years growing up in Harpenden Whilst it’s above average my bacon , Brie and Onions relish toasted sandwich was over heated and very hard Could do better

A welcoming cafe in the centre of Harpenden which gets very busy at lunch times. The food and drinks are good value but space for weating is limited.

Dropped in for a coffee and pastry but was surprised at how unkempt it appeared. Tables left in a dirty state and the floor unswept. Not what I expected and very disappointing. Coffee was good but almond croissant had no taste. Overall unsatisfactory.

went to Simmons a few saturdays ago after work was fairly busy and never anywhere to sit pushchairs taking up spaces at tables i never know where to queue people standing about theres always 4 or 5 members of staff but the service is still very slow dont go here if your in a rush.. i ordered 3 fresh cream belgium buns to take home my god what a rip off £5.97 for 3 i dont go here very often now because of the prices.. for a small sausage roll its like £3 if you eat it in its like £3.40 so your best taking it away.. the coffee always taste like dish water.. i try to stay away the service can be very painful. sausage in a roll £4 are they having a laugh

my friend was employed by them in southdown and was reduced to tears, don't work for them! The boss was patronising for no reason, and passive aggressive since she began working there.

Really disappointed by visit today, served by Alice who was very stingy with sandwich fillings paid a lot for a few prawns in a roll, chicken baguette quarter of which was empty. Not impressed. I’d rather spend that sort of money having a banquet at home!

Went in today before work and ordered bacon sandwich and cheese straw. The lady who served me told me the bacon was nice and crispy, so I was okay with that. As I sat down and ate the sandwich, and I wasn’t happy as the bacon was so hard and rock solid. With the cheese straw very cold, are you kidding me... maybe re heat or something.

While there is a good selection of breakfast choices, sandwiches and cakes, I cannot but repeat what I have said in an earlier review that more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness of the sitting area.

My sister and I brought our elderly mother here for coffee and cake and it did not disappoint. A traditional bakery serving breads etc with a cafe in the side. We thoroughly enjoyed our tea, coffee and cakes.

Stopped here for a change from formula coffee shop chain. Lovely feel very friendly staff coffee not quite flavoursome enough for my taste so added a second shot which improved things dramatically. Had bacon and egg bap which I would simply describe as awesome. Great bread soft and tasty and was asked how I wanted my egg. The result was perfection will return without a doubt

This Hertfordshire bakery chain are particularly good for jam doughnuts, iced buns, strawberry tartes and Cornish pasties. Get them whilst they are fresh and before they sell out!

Awesome gourmet toasted sandwiches.Brilliant full English breakfast. The lady who served us was very pleasant and helpful. Fabulous cakes. The eating area and the loo are basic.

Muy buena selección de combinaciones de desayuno, pasteles y panes. A veces ocupado parece poco personal resultante en la lentitud del servicio. Trabajo bien pero menos comprada, así que para aquellos que deseen sentarse. Más atención necesaria para mesas de clara y limpia, que a veces no es aceptable.

No he ido a Simmons por un tiempo excepto para tartas, pero esta vez para el almuerzo compramos mi marido y yo un regalo - pensamos! ! Hasta los rollos de salchichas no eran de buena calidad de llenado y la pastelería era muy grasienta. Su salchicha bap no era buena, la Misa del gallo de la carne fue sin duda barato y no podía probar mucho.

Primera visita en 3 años después de un bocadillo penoso desde allí. Hoy fui a comprar 2 llevar rollitos de salchicha, después de hacer cola durante 10 minutos y viendo todo el personal incompetente, 6 de ellas, me dijeron que me tienen que hacer cola en la cola principal ya que mi orden no llevar wa o pastel de pan? Claramente hay un proceso especial para comprar rollos de salchicha. Así que salí y dudo que volveré pronto.

La comida es mediocre y demasiado caro para lo que es. Cuando voy en mesas que siempre hay necesidad de compensación y es un desastre general cuando me visita. Es una pena porque las chicas son muy buenas en la tienda. Normalmente son muy amables y serviciales.

Un buen lugar para tomar un aperitivo, desayuno o almuerzo ligero. Los precios son muy razonables y la calidad es buena, pero variable. Una amplia selección de sándwiches y pasteles. No comer y para llevar.

Weve eaten here and take-out a few times in the last coupleof months and never been disappointed. Lovely home made sandwiches on a selection of breads to suit all tastes.

Sit in for a quick cheap lunch! Particularly recommend the traditional pasties. Friendly helpful staff!

The rainbow cake is so delicious and is perfect for special occasions.There is an array of bakery products available which is excellent.

Great cakes here but the not food quality isn't my cup of here here. Tried sausage rolls and it was poor quality meat. Tried other pastry too but again disappointing. The new decor with butches tiled walls at back made it very cold feel, prior to refurbishment it was more cosy feel. Girls are always friendly but seem inexperienced in service, also never offer whether I need a bag. I know it's 5p but they should offer if I'm buying boxes of cakes but they just leave there on counter expecting me to be able to carry all!!

Good little bakery serving the local community. Plenty of selection , fresh bread , pastries and hot take out food.

One big advantage of visiting Simmons Bakery is the wide range of excellent cakes and pastries available at retail (i.e. not café) prices – many local cafés serve Simmons cakes but at much higher prices. We visited on a wet Saturday afternoon and the bakery / café was busy, but the tables were being quickly cleared and cleaned so we had no problem finding somewhere to seat (we opted for the soft stools / chairs by the window).As expected the cake was excellent. Coffee was from a bean to cup machine, so nothing special but quite drinkable.There was a selection of hot snacks available and several newspapers to read.

I have a very sweet tooth so have been into Simmons number of times to try their delights, from tray bakes, to bread, cake and savoury snakes.Their cakes are fantastic, particularly the rainbow cake and Oreo cake. They sell out fast at times so if you can, call ahead or visit earlier in the datpy.

I always grab a coffee and a Bacon sandwich before my meeting. Starts the day off very well. Staff are always very nice, just nice to relax, read the papers and chill out before the strains of the KPIs, targets and the rest of the number crunching we have to go through..

Lovely freshly made sandwiches friendly staff, very chatty lots of choice too would recommend for a quick bite to eat or food for meetings or functions

Super fresh roll with plenty of filling but staff very stressed out by the queue arrangements and then insisted on the door being fully open so where we could grab a spot to sit and chat to eat the lovely lunch, was spoilt by the breeze. Shame, as lunch (and the drink) was lovely. Perhaps I just caught them on a difficult day?

Café making made to order snacks. We had breakfast rolls and gorgeous cakes. The plastic chairs and small tables aren't so good, but the food makes up for it!

This is a great little bakers to get donuts, croissants etc for morning coffee. The fresh bread is fantastic

Visited today for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime today and was very disappointed. Place was clean, staff lovely but food awful and overpriced. I had a bacon bap and the bap seemed like a budget brand from a supermarket and not a freshly baked one that l was expecting. I certainly won't be visiting again.

I went there with my husband and had the Breakfast basket, eggs, toast and coffees. They were very tasty, the waiters lovely and we bought some lovely croissants and fresh bread.

I've been to Harpenden to visit family and we always come to Simmons for freshly made sandwiches rather than go for shop bought ones. There is something for everyone as you can choose your type of roll/bread with your own choice of filling. I'll be back again

I visited Simmons today with a friend as we wanted something fresh rather than factory made.. I wished I didn't bother.. I was thrust s dry roll with a vinegary egg mayonnaise? Filling, a tea in a builders mug with the milk thoughtfully added on my behalf and s bottle of diet coke with a warm scratched plastic beaker and charged £7.50.. I wouldn't bother again, it is an overpriced poor alternative to the coffee shop experience, where I actually choose how much milk I put in my tea like a grown up!!

Lovely cakes & bread. Nice sandwiches & rolls for lunch. Great for a quick snack while shopping. Good service, staff have always been friendly & pleasant every time i have visited.

I enjoy a coffee with one or two savouries in here occasionally. I did try the full breakfast once and although the egg and toast were excellent the sausage and bacon seemed as if they had been sitting around for a while – the sausage was overdone and dry. The service is always good so I would recommend visiting.

Called in to Simmons Bakers in Station road Harpenden , a 1 minute walk down from the main railway station. ( opposite the main post office )Only 2 young girls seemed to be working , which explained all the tables not being cleared or cleaned, not very nice to have a drink on a dirty table. Had a hot drink ,finished and when left still no clearing on tables, first impressions count so will try others around the corner next time.
