Staff were lovely and pleasant. Great location. Really well priced. Lots of range of drinks, will try food next time I’m staying in the area. Sat outside in the sunshine. Was really quaint. Will return. The only little bit of feedback I can give is little garden maintenance in out door seating areas. And possible replace few outside benches. Other than that nice place.

Lovely, welcoming pub with character. We stopped by after a day out and were warmly welcomed. We ordered goat curry and prawn linguine both of which were delicious followed by an equally tasty apple crumble. The landlord and landlady were incredibly nice people, clearly working hard to deliver excellent personal service. We will visit again.

This was our first visit to this lovely little pub which has new owners who are working very hard to make it an excellent place to visit. Much care has been taken over the outdoor space which is now fenced in so suitable for children. The tables are being painted and there was a potted plant on each one. The toilets (I only visited the ladies :) were top class and the little fairy lights in the bar gave it a cosy feel. We received a very friendly welcome and would certainly visit again when we are in the area.

I travelled from Kettering to Flamstead (and Markyate) to play the organ at the 2 churches, setting off at 0715. I had booked a meal at this pub over Facebook in advance. I was certainly ready for Sunday lunch by 1240 and it did not disappoint. It came quickly (I'd got in before the rush) and was nice and hot. There was a surprisingly large but welcome selection of vegetables; a small quantity of each (Swede+Carrot, Cauliflower (cheese), cabbage, parsnip, I've forgotten the others!) 3 roast spuds, a Yorkshire pud and some stuffing with the 2 slices of gammon + gravy. A clean plate was handed back. The following apple crumble was delicious and absolutely perfect. I believe this place has just changed hands and it was not the carvery set-up shown in the images. I was also struck by the polite way a young waitress asked a couple (who only wanted drinks) to move out of the dining area which was due to be very busy.

We first came to this pub on Monday and had such a lovely lunch with 2 friends after a good walk to Markyate and back, we booked the Sunday carvery for part of our family. The choice of meat, beef, ham and turkey, was all cooked to perfection and the plates were almost too small to take the lovely vegetables, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, gravy and sauces. It was all hot and served by friendly staff. The children's fish fingers and chips portions were an appropriate size and disappeared very quickly. The puddings for those who had room, were very pleasant and the coffee was piping hot. It was a pity the coffee machine was broken but the filter and hot milk was a satisfactory alternative. We did not regret our decision to return within the week and we shall be back.

Three of us met here in January for a mid week lunchtime catch up - this was a new venue to all of us and one picked for the mid-point location. The car park was limited but we had no problem parking and the pub was fairly quiet, several customers but no sense of crowding. We were made to feel very welcome and had a good look at the menu, which was as we'd expect for pub food. We really only wanted a main course and there was a really helpful response to a request to switch chips / carbs for vegetables. My friends both had pies, the steak and ale was a substantial square pie, almost architectural. The mediterranean spiced chicken breast was cooked to perfection - moist and tender and the vegetables, though simple, were superb - tenderstem broccoli with a bit of crunch, grilled courgettes, tasty swede & carrot mash and light and creamy mashed potatoes - good food cooked really well. We spent quite a while catching up on eachother's news and felt under no pressure to hurry up. The pub is really pleasant, charming and feels quite airy. Loos very nice, clean and everything worked (warm water for hand washing and no broken loo seats). We left wondering when we could come back for another reunion - and maybe manage another course ....

Rang up in the morning and booked lunch for late afternoon carvery. This is our second visit here as we live locally, first time was not good either but decided to give it the benefit of doubt!Shocking poor service and quality of food. After accepting our booking, waited such a long time as restocking carvery actually ordered something to nibble on and was served several pieces of garlic bread and mayo??. Beef really tough and no carrots as finish, as worked in the food industry (new product development for ready meals to supermarkets) it’s just so bad!! Cold and dull interior with a wood burner which was not lit on a Sunday afternoon in January?? Why?? Will never return!!

Booked a table at the pub on Saturday for Sunday lunch. Lady on phone was friendly and polite. Turned up at pub to find an extremely limited menu due to a failed food delivery on Friday due to snow! As this was known about at the time of booking we would have appreciated being told either at the time of booking or the following morning - they had relevant contact details. Barman was apologetic and said they were still serving “most of the menu”. However, roasts, steaks, burgers and lasagne were all unavailable. This was our first vista and based of experience are highly unlikely to return.

Not good - tasted a bit sour and wasn't as clear as I'd like. Upset my stomach, and bad beer is the only thing that ever does. General feel was not that of a pub making much effort. Bartender was cheerful and there was a fire in the grate, hence two instead of one out of five.

Popped in for Sunday lunch after a walk on Dunstable Downs. What a gem of a place! Despite being fully booked, they fitted us in at a little table at the back. When we mentioned that one of us was vegetarian, they offered alternatives to the traditional roast and we settled for veggie sausages. The food was quick to arrive, two large separate bowls of vegetables, everything was home cooked, hot and delicious. We then had two different desserts, both of which were again home made and delicious. The service was excellent, nothing was too much and when we asked for some extra gravy they were only too willing to provide this. The interior is warm and cosy and set in a lovely village. We would definitely come back again.

I was staying at the local Holiday Inn so I popped into this pub looking for a decent beer, I only drink real ales! There was a choice of two cask conditioned beers - Sharp's Atlantic or Otter Amber. Although this was a disappointment to me as I was 200 miles from home and I would have liked to have found something brewed local to the pub but I chose the Otter Amber which was in excellent condition.I realise that if I walk into a pub and see a beer brewed 200 miles away then I'd think "Oh, that's different, I'll try that!"Otter Brewery is about 12 miles from my house and I regularly drink thier beers, hence the disappointment. Ho hum!!It was mid afternoon on a Thursday so there were only 4 other customers but they and the barmaid made me feel very welcome and almost like "a regular", asking where I was from and about my job, I work on the roads, Highway Maintenance generally in the South of the country. As I say, they were very friendly and told me to come here again next time I'm in the area!I look forward to coming back, maybe next time I'll have a meal here too.

We was recommended to come here for for traditional roast dinners the meat, potatoes and homemade yorkies were amazing. But we only got 2 vegetables - peas and green beans. 1 dish between 3 adults and 2 children. Personally for my roast I love loads of veg and a bigger variety. Nice pub with football table for kids to play on. Waitress was very young and didn't really understand what we meant when we asked what part of the chicken and pork it was. Being a waitress myself there was lots of things missing. Didn't ask if everything was OK. Didn't clear empty glasses away. Maybe things people wouldn't think of unless being in that line of work. Not sure if we'd return again it's not that local to us.

Duck your head as your enter, this building is old and higgledy-piggledy, perfect for a village pub. Inside decor is vintage-pub, with a cozy eating area and games area. The menu is varied, with local fresh ingredients. But don't order without talking to the chef. He is incredible and has created fantastic dishes and will steer you in the right directions. Despite the great options on the menu, my questions led him to create a fantastic vegetarian meal for me that was superb - right portion, well done and prepared with such enthusiasm that I burst into a smile remembering that there are people who love cooking and who love giving their diners a superb, tailored and cared for experience. We visited this pub for a lunchtime meal after a morning out and about. First impressions, very cute and cosy. On entering the pub we were shown to a table next to an open fire. It is a small pub with around 20 tables which while we were there was not busy but if it become crowded with all tables in use I should think it could get a little chaotic. The range of food on the menu was a little sparse compared to other places we have been, but still a reasonable choice with a specials board. Service was courteous and prompt. Our food arrived within good time and was of a very good quality and amount. The food was nicely presented and cooked well and tasted very homely, it was very an enjoyable meal. We would happily return to the pub for another meal if passing. Just one comment to make which is a pet hate of mine, I like to sit down to a clean table not a sticky one which has not been properly cleaned since the last customers.

A lovely location for a tea room, sadly we were let down by the food. The scones were warmed up to hide the fact they were stale and the jam was a cheap jelly. My son’s eggs were so under cooked the whites were still clear. My husband ordered a meat pie, we had to laugh as it was the smallest portion. Having said all that our waitress was lovely and very friendly. I don’t think we’ll be going back.
