The coffee was terrible, the toilets gross and there was no wifi. What is the point of this cafe, other than being close to the train station?

Visited on a quiet Saturday morning. This Costa branch offers a typical, no-frills coffee experience near Harpenden station. Nothing stood out as exceptional, but there were no complaints either. The outdoor extra tables allowed to enjoy the rare decent weather (alas, front is in shade). Overall, this Costa delivers exactly what you'd expect - a reliable, if unremarkable, coffee experience. It's a convenient option for commuters or those in need of a caffeine fix in the area, but don't expect any surprises or memorable touches. We now enjoy coming to this Costa branch. Spacious, lots of space. Don’t feel crammed in. Nice and clean. Nice and warm and cozy in winter. All in all a nice ambiance conducive to a relaxed coffee experience.

Slow service, the girls weren’t even looked bothered or looked knowing what to do.

The barista had a nice welcoming smile and as always the coffee and muffins were great. The High Street Costa is maybe due for a makeover?

Parking is available so easy for meetings. Never gets too busy as a result a much cleaner location than some. Sandwiches over priced at £5 but coffee shops aren't cheap.

It was nice and empty and peaceful and the young staff were pleasant but the coffee was a bit disappointing and tiny for £3.20 The shop looks as if it needs updating it looks quite grubby.

I don’t know how the manager is still working there I have seen her a couple of times drunk at pubs and later seen her at work How can you show up at work drunk Unbelievable and very rude behaviour

Good well run outlet with friendly staff. Service was quick and there was a good choice of cakes and drinks.

First stop after getting off the train. No queue 🫣 and served very promptly. Harpenden was busy with the bank holiday Thursday for the Jubilee so made the most of this quiet oasis!

I love this store visit often as staff so welcoming and the store is high with cleaning standards. Great cake and sandwich selection. Love now doing marks and Spencer range.

I enjoy all Costa coffee restaurant & the welcoming atmosphere but there’s a certain barista who is rude, laughs at & argues with customers. Served our coffee & tea without saucers & today the cappuccino was dire. She’s should not be working with customers. I’ve lived in this town for over 26 yrs & can’t believe the bad mannered woman is still working there after numerous complaints.

Terrible! A member of staff basically messed up my son’s order and he didn’t get the chocolate tiffin he had paid for with this order. She virtually accused him of being a liar and he ended up paying again. I didn’t know any of this until after the event and none of our family will be going here again anytime soon. We’ll use the Costa on High Street instead as it’s only a short walk and we’ve never had any problems in there!

Trays were not clean & when I mentioned this my comment was ignored.

Had a catch up with family which was made a special gathering the manager and her staff was so friendly and welcoming they helped me carry my order to my table as i arrived before my family and pre ordered and I had a very excited child .

Just a typical Costa Coffee. Nothing bad to report. What more is there to say?

Like all Costa branches this one always needs one extra member of staff but its not their fault and they manage very well. This store is clean and tidy, the service is very good and the staff are friendly.

I really Love the choice of food and drink. I also like the atmosphere. Been going a few years, since it opened, they have coped really well with the Pandemic the staff have excellent customer service and courtesy in the stressful times. Will be going there again for as long as possible.

Never understand why Harpenden council allowed 2 Costas within a few hundred feet of each other in such a tiny town. That said, this is definitely the best of the 2. The staff are much better, seem a little happier/friendlier and make a better coffee. Only 2 small criticisms 1) The nice big windows were completely misted up. Not sure if they need a/c or a dehumidifier or something. 2) There was some low volume 'thudding' sound in the background. The sound was easy to ignore but I could feel the vibration through my seat - not very restful. That aside, was a good place for a drink.

Always call in when we're in Harperden think prices are a bit more expensive than our local one though. Staff are nice.

Visited Costa in Harpenden nearest to train station on the 13th October 2019 at 1pm. Coffee very good but could not be offered any clean forks and knives, asked for replacements three times but all were dirty looking. Why can't the utensils be cleaned properly!!!

Coffee is just like any other Costa, but the “fresh” food is just not as fresh as it should be. Stale croissants last time, and quite dry banana cake today. Staff are alright and friendly, but food needs to improve!

Show the ones round the corner what to do! It's a chain coffee shop at the end of the day, but the staff always seem to be on top of things and its not sauna like the one on the high street

Took the grandmother to get her hair cut in Harpenden, popped into Costa had a panini and a caramel latte. It’s still the same as the last tile I visited. Great service, great staff and great coffee. Much better than the crap you get at Starbucks!

Very welcoming. Staff nice and friendly. The coffee shop is kept nice and clean and so are the toilets. Good place to come for a peaceful coffee.

I visited here when I was in the final weeks of completing my university course as I’d had extremely bad treatment from the staff in Starbucks, Chiswell Green. It’s a nice little coffee shop with very friendly staff and the internet connection is fantastic. I had no issues with it and the shop was full of people on phones and laptops. I always use Costa Coffee as it’s actually far better than Starbucks.

Lovely place, and staff, everyone always has a smile on their face and are friendly, especially the young girl, I think her name might have been Elena.

The service is awful and blatantly disorganized. I had to repeat my order overall about 6 times to different staff members and kept getting asked if a drink that wasn't mine was. After this I ordered to have in and my panini came in a take away cardboard thing and when I brought it up the staff members talked and then the one I originally talked to just shrugged at me and chucked it on the tray. I don't see how putting it on a plate with a knife is such a hassle. I absolutely hate this in comparison to other Costas it's just disappointing

It's a Costa, nothing more nothing less. Coffee quality can be variable.

What has happened to this Costa? It used to be the better of the 2 in Harpenden. Came in today for coffee and lunch. Staff surly and rude. Slopped coffee all over my tray and didn't even bother wiping it up. Just turned her back and walked away. Dirty trays and cups on most of the empty tables - I had to clear my own. Toasted sandwich had food from somebody else's stuck to it. Horrible. Avoid!

Usually love a Costa but this one up by the station was just a bit chaotic the morning we were there. Not the best coffee shop experience. They needed a manager in there to organise them and raise the expectations.

Flat white and super hot choc with my daughter, but the barista looked like a bulldog who’s swallowed a wasp. Terrible attitude from the girl with the shaved head and pony tail. Needs to cheer up!

Good coffee and friendly staff. The background music was a little too loud for my liking as having a conversation with someone else was harder than normal.

I came in this afternoon in a rush catch my train and I ordered a takeaway latte. The girl who I ordered it from was in training (I believe her name was Kat) however she took my order and my drink was made without any delay. It was the perfect temperature and when she handed it to me she said "Have a lovely day" and this little touch put a smile on my face for the day.

We have coffee here on average one a week. Service excellent. Usual snacks that are available in all Costas. Airy restaurant with comfortable seating, and if you time it well not noisy.

Good coffee at decnt price, lots of seating and not too busy when we went on a Sunday. All staff were pleasant as you'd expect from this large chain.

A nice sized coffee house with around 15 tables and comfortable seating. Staff are excellent rotate with those at Costa High Street but this site seems much more organised. Tables are regularly cleared and big glass windows keep the place bright and cheerful.

I'm only posting because I was so annoyed by my purchases today, it was literally money down the drain. Very friendly and efficient staff in this Costa. However my flat white was awful. Maybe it is the Costa version of a flat white. It was basically a regular sized latte that I was served, very weak. I had to throw it away. Normally a flat white comes in a smaller cup and tastes obviously different, like a flat white should. I had to pour it away as I hate weak milky latte. Also the pastry I had was from yesterday... it was stale, dry and fluffy... not nice. £4 odd wasted. Very disappointing and I won't be taking a chance there again.

Coffee is ok , not as hot as I'd like it to be. The slice of cake i had tasted stale as if its been there for days :/

The Costa Coffee, on Station Road, is a nice large café: not too crowded with furniture, plenty of natural light for the large north facing windows and quite a number of soft seats. Overall the café has a nice layout / design.Care and attentional seemed to be paid to the making of my cappuccino, but at the end of the drink I got a mouthful of coffee grinds – asides was this the drink was OK. The toasted sandwich was also OK.Plenty of newspapers available and the community notice boards gives the place a friendly feel. However, the tables were not being cleared quickly – so I had to move dirty items in order to have a table to sit at.Whilst the better of the two Costa’s in town, I will not rush back.
