Another outstanding meal ! Surely Lussmanns Harpenden cannot get any better! I tried the pan fried celeriac which came with a delicious mashed potato whose sauce I could not identify but it was scrumptious. Dessert was a poached pear with a lovely blackcurrant ice cream. I also part of my favourite non-alcoholic beer which I highly recommend- Pine Trail Pale Ale. I am now looking forward to taking a friend with me each Sunday and anticipate that they will find it equally delicious.

Looked beautiful with candles as we walked in. Had lovely, friendly and informative service, going the extra mile. Food was delicious as usual. Loved it. Need to go back v soon to eat all the plates I wanted to choose.

I had another excellent lunch at Lussmanns. Choosing from the set menu,2 courses for £20.95, I enjoyed the chickpea and tomato hot pot, the rice in which was totally delicious, and the pineapple carpaccio. The service was again impeccable and the whole experience faultless as usual.

Lovely lunch, with good sized portions. We had a missing item from one of our starters. When this was bought to the staff's attention, they apologised immediately and sent complimentary chips to the table. The rest of the meal was delicious and came without any issues. Even better, when the bill came, staff had also deducted the price of one of our drinks to again apologise for the earlier problem. Can't fault the customer service.

Just lovely, both food and service. Perfect for our wedding anniversary celebration. Chalk stream trout was perfect - especially those pickled radishes! Onglet steak and lamb on the bone with Savoy cabbage were delicious. Desserts of poached pear and chocolate mousse not quite as perfect - the nut brittle more like crumbs and it didn't add anything, the pear was icy cold. But, overall, a really lovely meal.

Yet another wonderful Sunday lunch ! It just seems to go on getting better and better. My husband had the Shoulder of Lamb, his favourite, an I the vegetarian minced “ Lamb” on flatbread and what an exquisite experience that was. The service was excellent, the atmosphere quiet and the general ambience definitely conducive to a feeling of well-being.

We have enjoyed eating at Lussmans in Harpenden, many times, especially the Fish and Chips Fridays, which have always been excellent.

The restaurant was very busy but it did not affect the service we received in any way which was excellent from the time we arrived the food quality was as usual excellent and the attention to my wife’s meal choice who is Gluten Free was outstanding.

This is my third fine dining experience in as many months and I’m booking for next month. The whole experience is just so good

We are rapidly running out of superlatives to describe this amazing restaurant. We had an excellent meal yesterday; husband had Lamb Shoulder and Sticky Date Pudding, while I, a vegetarian, had the new dish on their menu, Chickpea Hotpot, and Pineapple Carpaccio; this latter combination was on their set menu and excellent value for money. We shared a delightful carafe of Fleurie and two impeccable coffees completed our meal. We are already looking forward to next Sunday’s lunch!

Lussmans is an excellent restaurant and never fails to impress! The food is fresh and always well cooked and so tasty, the Sole is a must have if you like fish. Combine with wonderful service by professional staff it represents great value. We have been numerous times and I believe it to be the best restaurant in Harpenden!

Well, where to start? This was our third Sunday lunch at Lussmanns, Harpenden and it just keeps on getting better! There were 4 of us celebrating a very recent enjoyable event, and we had a really excellent experience.The duck confit, the lamb shank,the fishcake with poached egg and the celeriac steak were all totally delicious , as were our desserts; two of us had the pineapple carpaccio, shile my husband again chose his favourite, apple crumble and our other friend chose the sticky date pudding. Rounding off this delightful repast with their superb coffee just punt the icing on the care, if I may mix my metaphors. Well done again, Lussmanns: we look forward to having all future Sunday lunches with you.

Excellent venue for friend’s 96th birthday lunch.

What a beautiful lunch we had. The food was delicious, the location is lovely and overall service was great. Will definitely be back.

This was only our second visit to Lussmanns for Sunday lunch and once again it did not disappoint. My husband has a slight physical disability that affects his walking, so across an uneven surface he really struggles. So we elected to use his wheelchair and lo and behold a ramp was brought out and we safely negotiated the entrance. Ken was able to sit in his chair throughout the meal.They also gave us the same table as the first time, which was great as it is just inside the door. Everyone is served with a carafe of iced water and this is replenished as necessary; in most restaurants you have to request water and specify that it should be from the tap,and not the expensive bottled water. And now to the food:- it was superb . My husband had the Chalk Stream Trout with salsa verde and crispy fried capers, which he pronounced excellent.I as a vegetarian chose the the N.African spiced “, lamb style “ mince flatbread with cottage cheese, sweet & sour onions and garden herbs. I was delighted that one of the herbs was coriander, my favourite. For dessert, my husband once again chose his favourite. Bramley Apple Crumble with ice cream: I chose the St Clements posset with ginger crumb ; both were beyond delicious; we finished with coffee and I had a small Tia Maria as well. Lussmanns take pride in being sustainable, e.g..more than 95% of their food is grown or produced in the UK to minimise their impact on the environment, and to support ethical British suppliers.A discretionary 121/2% service charge is added to the bill, 50% of which goes to the front of house staff and the other 50% to the equally important people who cook your food. All food is freshly prepared ; indeed you can actually see the cooking being done. We have decided that every Sunday from now on we shall eat at Lussmanns; it is superb in every possible way.

Dusty lampshade hanging above tables. Debris on the floor at start of service. Water bottles scaled up, could do with polish before use. Table for 3 was too small. Food was quite good though.

We had a lovely evening enjoying the atmosphere ,service and excellent quality of food.I got together with three friends for a Christmas meal and get together.We had excellent service from the minute we walked in till the minute we left.The food was outstanding with presentation and taste of excellent quality.The atmosphere was excellent with just enough lighting and noise level.We were in a grown up environment which felt very comfortable and enjoyable.The price was amazing with an excellent choice of good quality food.We will definitely be returning to Lussmanns through out the year.

My husband and I have been searching for a restaurant for Sunday lunch for some now we’ve found it. And what a wonderful experience! There is nothing that we could fault at Lussmanns,Harpenden. Every aspect of our experience there was perfect. I had not thought when I booked to alert the staff that my husband is partially disabled, in that he finds it hard work to walk any significant difference. This doesn’t usually matter as he can walk about 50 m with support from me. We have a wheelchair in the car and and we would use it as appropriate. Today our progress from car to restaurant, a very small distance, was hampered by the fact that the ground was very slippery. Anyway, we made it! And what a joy eating at Lussmans was. The service was impeccable, the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was out of this world delicious, the ambience was quiet despite the restaurant being busy……what’s not to like? As we were leaving we told the lovely man who helped Ken into his wheelchair that we would award them 125 out of 100 and that we would most certainly be back. Indeed we have now decided that we will eat there every Sunday lunchtime if possible. Very well done, Lussmanns Harpenden

A busy night with staff who had to rush around but they were pleasant nonetheless. Very noisy at times and value wise I thought at the top end. Not sure the overall experience justified the cost, but a pleasant evening overall

Nice food, good service but expensive for what it was

Excellent quality food. Lussmans really does make the best fish cake! Another member of our group tried the chicken fricasee and noted that the sauce was mesmerising! We also love the non alcoholic cocktails, especially Wilfried’s Spritz and Soft Passionfruit Martini. Lovely table service throughout the evening bring both attentive dnd not feeling like we had to rush to get the table cleared.

There is a lovely cosy atmosphere in this quaint historic place. Staff are very welcoming and accomodating - we had our two young daughters with us. The food was excellent -great quality, taste and portion size. I had kipper croquettes and the chalk stream trout, both delicious. Deserts are always great, plum crumble and Bramley apple cheesecake are highly recommended.

Food is excellent, and to me, the vegan options are very good. We always have extremely friendly and efficient service and return time and time again.

Very good meal. Really enjoyable and food served hot. Super staff….. Shame about two female customers , aged around 70. Very loud - unbelievably - and one took a video call from her daughter and grandson, who were on holiday. She then had a VERY loud conversation in which the whole restaurant could hear. Do these people not realise we really don’t care about their lives or are interested in them . We don’t force them to listen to our conversations. Very rude and no self awareness.

As usual wonderful friendly , welcoming and efficient service in a delightful room. Food was very good overall but the linguine a La Norma wasn’t very flavourful. It was acknowledged that we were celebrating an anniversary which always makes you feel a valued customer.

We had an excellent dinner with an extremely warm and friendly welcome in what is a very attractive and relaxing environment. The food was very well prepared and tasty, and service was superb. Mariana, Michael and Vallon were, as always, highly professional, attentive and responsive. Without being at all intrusive, they constantly made sure we had all we needed even before we thought of it ourselves. We visit every week and every single member of staff is fantastic. We have never experienced an "off day" and have never felt neglected in any way.

Had a fabulous meal here on Friday with friends. The staff were super helpful and friendly, and the meal was delicious and good value for money. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere too.

Having been going to Lussmans for many years , in fact since it opened , it was our first choice for a 25 th wedding anniversary with friends . This was for a Sunday early evening meal in mid September . Other than being given a window table , this special occasion was not mentioned in any way, despite being on the booking Perhaps the team were having an off day , as the service was not up to the usual high standards, and everyone in our group mentioned that their meals were not as good quality as on previous visits, and staff seemed very harassed ( although not full by any means ) , water delayed , never replenished , starters delayed , unwilling to assist with a request for a special fish off the bone - despite having done this for us many times before. We mentioned all this to Mariana at the time . Sadly not the special celebration we had hoped for, nor a good experience at over £60 a head

The dishes my son and myself had were disappointing, just not tasty. My husband was ok with his. The service was not great either. Perhaps they don't try as the tip is mandatory at the level of 12.5% which is quite a lot At the table there was no space for legs...sounds funny but it was uncomfortable.

Met friends in the restaurant, great welcome at the door and coats taken and ushered to our table. Great ambiance and become nicely buzzy as the evening got later. Fabulous food cooked, perfectly, with great service, we all enjoyed three courses and finished with a good coffee. Will certainly return soon. Thanks to all the staff and compliments to the kitchen for a job well done. 😋

We came for a low key family meal. Service across the board was excellent - knowledgable, engaging and warm. Food was interesting, tasty and transparent (source/origin). Our waitress was very good and helpful on Sunday evening at 7pm. Prosecco was good but I thought overpriced at £38, I happened to buy a bottle the previous day from Sainsbury’s for £6.50. I realise the restaurant has to build in profit and staff costs. Main course we’re very good - whole sole and linguine with aubergine +. But the Eton mess was very disappointing - hardly any meringue and what there was was crumb shaped not pieces as it should be, very few strawberries also puréed and the rest was whipped cream. We left some of ours as did another table who didn’t get any meringue in theirs (or so they said). We told the waitress who said she would let the kitchen staff know. No one spoke to us to explain the Eton mess. I will go again but advise people to forego the Eton mess
