Caffe Nero in St Albans

Great little place, nice location and the specialty blends set them apart. Staff are also very helpful! Also like the bike parking options and outdoor seating

Great coffee obviously but they really need either a seating redesign or preferably moving to much bigger premises. Completely hopeless to sit inside and be comfortable.

This place is the worst coffee shop in Harpenden. It doesn't look like it has been cleaned for months. Inside the window ledges are filthy and trays are not removed from tables promptly so customers have to use messy tables. Dogs are allowed and 5 were inside, which is unhygenic where food is served. One dog kept yapping and the owner didn't seem to bother stopping it. Outside there are large wheeled waste bins one of which was so full the lid was open. Tables and chairs are located beside the bins, not a nice customer experience.

The place was always ok-ish, been going there on & off for 3 odd years. Location is good (free parking nearby for 1h) and so is the coffee and cakes but service is below average, the place is scruffy but now there are 3 commercial size waste bins, along the Nero & The George divide, which a third of the tables and chairs are now positioned next to! Won't be going back, its like siting in a rubbish dump.

The coffee and cake was good. But dont use the toilet. So dirty!!!!! It must be days since it was cleaned. Urine on the floor and no soap🤬

Good coffee , speed of service tends to reflect which team is on duty. Badly needs a refurbishment especially as Gail’s has opened nearby

Went to Nero for a coffee and cake with my family. It’s in a good position in Harpenden but the wet staff just ruined it. The drinks were wrong, they looked like they had no idea what they were doing. We wanted to sit in but despite requests still provided us with takeaway cups and bags for our cakes and my coffee was cold. Will go to Costa next time.

The drinks don’t look like the picture and not as described missing items.the attitude of the staff is very very rude and unfriendly I would in all my travels give this the worst review for service and quality and not have important parts of a drink in stock -100

Popped in here on off chance as I used to use a Nero everyday as a teenager, the staff were very helpful in accommodating my drink requirements (decaff AND dairy free) and my drink was delicious made with coconut. Would definitely recommend.

Latte it’s not like before. I don’t know why but I feel I’m drinking white americano. I love this place. I hope my latte it’s gonna be better 🙏

This was my first visit to Caffè Nero. It was approaching closing time but the girls behind the counter were still happy to serve and I did not feel rushed even though I did not know what to order, asking questions about the different drinks and having to order 3 different ones. Drinks were ok. Not bad. They don’t seem to put as much syrup in as Starbucks, but saying that, it is most possibly better for you. Overall a pleasant experience and will visit again.

This is a prime meeting place. They serve excellent coffee, welcome everybody, children and adults alike. There is a good choice of healthy snacks too. There is no pressure to leave in a hurry, and there are free papers to read while you enjoy your coffee.

When I commuted a few years ago I used to use an excellent Café Nero in the Fleet Street area.However, this one is lacklustre by comparison. Like all chain coffee shops service is variable between poor and excellent. I have been given the wrong drink because of staff not listening.It is now getting a bit shabby and in need of a refresh. The acoustics are also very bad so if more than half full you cannot hear yourself think. Maybe they can address these two issues together. The toilet also needs rather more frequent cleaning.

Working in a chain cafe is a lot harder than it looks. The staff at this particular Nero are bubbly, polite and tentative. I always feel very calm whenever I go in, and I like the way the staff are friendly to each other and customers making it an easy transaction.All very good looking too which doesn't hurt! Costa take note! :D

I think the staff should be aware that it is not appropriate to pick up the cup with their fingers around the rim when they place it on the counter. I have mentioned this to them but they still do it. It is unhygienic.

A friendly vibe to this Cafe Nero, staff were polite and helpful. Clean and comfortable for family and 2 young children.

went to buy mocha frappe.. they charged £3.70 + £0.50 cream on top. mocha frappe comes with a free on top cream. last week same store charged me £3.70. not sure why these people r distinct. do they bring their cream from Moon? rude and arrogant staff.

The tall lady, blonde hair, so rude. It's a morning, people want coffee to wake up, don't scream when they are in-front of you...especially when you got the order wrong!

Caffe Nero has a great atmosphere and undeniably amazing drinks. although the food options are not extremely great, you will never be disappointed with one of there drinks. At Christmas especially they are great at putting tasty twists onto classic drinks.

This coffee house is always busy, and has a good range of coffee and tea, also delicious snacks. WiFi is free and well behaved dogs are welcome. Baristas knowledgeable and friendly.

I like Caffè Nero and this is a great example. Quits small it’s alwats busy which adds to the atmosphere. The clientele varies by time of day with young mums, dog walkers, cyclists all seemingly knowing there time. The staff are great, know the regulars, are quick to serve and take every opportunity to keep the place clean. Missing the 5th star only because I would like more comfy seating

I am regular with my husband for our Large Americano's with hot skimmed milk. Baristas very friendly and pleasant ambiance. Dog friendly and very laid back atmosphere. Like sitting in and outside. Lovely coffee and as we take our own cups, we get an extra stamps for the loyalty card. If you use the App, you sometimes get extra stamps.

Come here a lot. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. But it is always busy. Nice drinks

Called in here for a quick coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. Quite a few customers sitting inside and out. Toilet facilities very clean. Good quality coffee. A nice touch is the free jugs of iced water.

Standard Cafe Nero. Coffee great service very good and attentive. Sandwich heated and promptly delivered to the table. Only disappointment was no bacon and egg sandwich

The coffee was fine and there was a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Poor acoustics make conversation difficult inside but there is a nice terrace outside.

Meet with a group of friends early mornings, staff friendly and welcoming. After a few visits staff remember how you like your coffee. Comfortable inside, dog friendly, seating outside when the weather is good.

Went to Caffe Nero a few days ago and would never go back again! The tuna panini tasted awful and the noise levels were really high - couldn't hear myself think! I would definitely not recommend this place - there are better cafes in Harpenden!!

Helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere and of course good coffee. The outside seating is very pleasant in good weather.

This particular Caffé Nero could improve its service, its cleanliness, and its atmosphere. I was not impressed that, trying to enjoy a morning coffee, one of the assistants was sweeping up between the tables, making a considerable noise with the dustpan clanging and the brush sweeping. Admittedly, the floor did need cleaning but surely this should be done before opening and after closing, NOT when customers are drinking their coffee and having breakfast. The tables are sticky and the place needs a good spring-clean.

This is not just a cafe. It is an experience not to be missed. Unassuming it maybe but you can relax with a tasty brew and be ready for whatever life is going to throw at you.

This little coffee shop is always bursting at the seams and yet the barista's there are probably some of the best I have seen. They care about what they are creating and it's so personal when they even remember your regular drinks. You can tell its good because I tend to go out of my way to be able to stop there to pick up a large skinny sugar free vanilla latte on my way home from work or shopping! Keep up the great work!

When I pop into Harpenden I get a coffee here, often with my dog...they are child friendly, dog friendly . Staff are always helpful ....Only downside is it is so popular nearly always busy but trust me worth a small wiat if busy....

The seating here is lovely outside, with nice view of the high street and beautiful flower bed next to it.The carrot cake tasted beautiful and the coffee was nice (this time)!My rating for this place has gone up from 3 to 4, but I never visited the WC this time, remember last time it was filthy. Seats are also pretty work out so sitting outside when sunny made it more enjoyable...,

Great coffee,always is at Nero, but the children running wild spoil a quiet coffee. Why parents seem to feel it is OK to enjoy their coffee whilst their off-spring run riot around is beyond me - but then I don't have kids. Shame.

Been here twice and first time in summer, 2nd time with husband end summer. Both times the view was nice and good to have tea break or lunch overseeing Harpenden.However the tables indoors and outdoors were dirty with spilt drinks, the sofa was so worn it had no life and unpleasant to sit on. Last thing that finished off us not coming back was the toilet, needs managing!The staff were very young and needed training, seemed bothered but inexperienced to deal with customers with the right approach.

Usual service associated with Nero's. Hard to understand waitress accent but she was very pleasant. Nice interior.

A delicious drink (accompanied by a slice of cake just because) served at quite a busy cafe. The staff seemed idle to the fact that people were queueing (even though the queue wasn't long)Still, a lady that served me knows how to make a luscious white chocolate mocha and I will definitely be going back to Caffe Nero for another one.

Popped in for a quick drink when we were passing.It was busy but we managed to get a good table outside. No problems with the service or with our drinks or food.

I'm sorry I know I'm in a minority but I really do not rate Nero Coffee. I drink Latte's and I always find theirs tastes too strong and burnt. The location of this Nero is good and the service is what you'd expect from this type of coffee shop.

A good cup of coffee. Choice of indoor or out door seating but nothing special. Outdoor seating faces main road and has a pedestrian walkway immediately in front of it which is offputting

We visited Café Nero at Harpenden & found nice choices of cakes, muffins & great coffee. The staff were quick to serve us & friendly. This café was very busy & popular with the locals which is always a good sign.

I went there with my sister to have cappucinos and we had to wait for a very long time, although there was only one other costumer ahead of me...Poor, unfriendly service. We will not go back.

I have visited Caffè Nero in Harpenden a number of times. The coffee is always good and there is always a selection of pastries, cookies and cakes to choose from.However, I do find the tables slightly crammed in. There is loads of outdoor seating, but some are often next to a waste bin (really unpleasant on a warm day). Therefore, only 3 out of 4 stars.
