Fantastic little cafe, breakfast was amazing

Visited the pub before the new owners actually opened the doors, what a welcome!!! Family friendly establishment, new prices very reasonable, massive garden, clean and well presented interior, loads of toys for children of all ages, live music booked and much more! Cannot wait for the launch on Thursday! So far very pleased! Xx

Due to my pub with rooms no longer serving breakfast, found this cafe on Google maps. Excellent coffee, friendly service and a very tasty bacon sandwich. Good value, good food.

Last minute booking and when we got there realised they were only serving Thai, it was the best Thai I've had and the staff were incredibly friendly. Absolutely superb food and will definately go again.

I discovered this place while visiting some friends that live in Hitchin. We wanted ice cream and found this nice little place. Tables and chairs in the front reminded us of our hometown cafe terrazas in Spain. The gelato was really good, and best of all, all the flavours they had at the time were gluten free! 100% recommend this place and I will be coming back next time I'm in Hitchin.

Very reasonably priced and tasty food. Some of the drinks were on the expensive side and not as pleasant but service was amazing and the atmosphere/cleanliness was great also. Overall lovely visit!

A traditional pub with a lovely atmosphere. There's a good range of drinks and a open fire. We were a group of walkers and were welcome d with open arms.

After reading all the brilliant reviews decided to give them a go for breakfast. The picture in the window of scrambled eggs on sourdough toast looked delicious so opted for that. That’s where the similarities ended unfortunately. The toast was not toasted at all, rock hard crusts but basically bread. Eggs were dry and lukewarm at best, not creamy looking as per photo. Piled high with spinach on top, perhaps to hide the fact that there was not a lot of scrambled egg, 1 tiny cherry tomato cut in half. All this for £7.95. It’s not as if they were busy as we were the only ones there at 9.15 in the morning. No one bothered to clear our plates, had they I would’ve given the feedback as to why it wasn’t eaten. I left written feedback on a paper napkin. It’s a shame as the salads on display looked delicious and we were considering making a lunch time return. However if that’s the quality of the breakfast I don’t even want to waste my money trying the lunch. Vote with my feet and sadly will not return.

We booked for our 10th Wedding anniversary. We used to visit a few years back and things were fantastic. However after a few questionable meals, we hadnt been for a while. After reading the reviews we thought we’d try again- I wish we hadnt. Things started ok, being seated swiftly and drinks orders taken. We ordered mains that came in a timely manner, they were tasty, but very small portions. When the desert order was finally taken, what arrived was very questionable, small, tasteless and expensive. Then we waited and waited before someone finally noticed us, even though 3 members of the waiting staff stood twice by the desk chatting, one of which was the supervisor. We’d had a lovely day for our anniversary, but The Fox put a gloom over the end of our day. We left feeling unsatisfied and extremely disappointed. We will not be visiting again.

Have recently been to the 'Hermit' twice in recent weeks, both at lunchtime. The improvements to the decor create a very pleasant environment. The staff are very welcoming, polite, professional and knowledgeable. The food is excellent with a good choice, well cooked and presented. Men̈u changes regularly. Good selection of beers,wine & spirits. Would highly recommend and will return. Only blemish is , no New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (maybe next time)

OK went to watch the football. Didn't have the sound up!music was playing instead. Was the early game on a Saturday.
