Granello Lounge in North Hertfordshire

We had meal elsewhere and popped here for a post meal coffee. Wish they did a mini pud with a coffee, that would have been perfect.

The gentrification of Hitchin continues to attract vegans all across the country. Well hungry vegans, you will not be disappointed! I have not eaten the vegan food here but it’s probably nice

We visited here on 11th April 2024. The service was exemplary. My son has food allergies, and it was far and away the best venue we have ever been to in the local area with respect to how these were dealt with. Attention to detail was second to none. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. We shall certainly eat there again next time we are in Hitchin.

So impressed with the staff at the Granello lounge particularly those who worked on Easter Saturday. They brought colouring sheets and crayons to the table for the kids, spoke cheerily and kindly to the kids, were super polite and helpful. All around a great atmosphere and the staff clearly enjoy their jobs which is lovely to see. Will definitely return PS- also amazing GF menu! Thank you!

The food was super good. I had the beetroot and feta flatbread, and it was delicious. Prices a very good and the restaurant is super nice.

Great place to meet up with friends. Bit noisy, but it's popular so what can we expect. One of my favourites currently.

The food was 10/10, it’s the service that was shocking. We visited on 16/03/24 for lunch. Ordered two cokes which sat in the bar for a good 15 minutes. There were 4-5 members of staff present who kept walking past our drinks but no one bothered to serve it, they were just talking to each other. Even the bartender couldn’t care less. At the end we had enough and my partner had to go get the drinks from the bar.

Was in here for mother's day , my son had the burger and as lovely as the menu was I had the all day big lounge breakfast I just can't resist a breakfast ,such a lovely atmosphere, staff amazing as was the food, will definitely going back

Great food, and service too, after food ordered. We arrived and were offered a choice of two tables, then the member of staff mumbled something and went off. About ten minutes later we realised that we had to order through the small QR code on the table. This took ages as WiFi not great. However, the food was excellent and drinks arrived quickly after the order went through.

Restaurants have really upped their game in Hitchin. This is one of them! Beef Brisket Chilli Slow-cooked brisket, black beans and mature cheddar, served with spicy rice, spring onion, red chilli and yoghurt

Nice quirky place great service

A relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Has both a family and dog friendly policy. There are games for children and adults. There is also a wide range and types of food and drink options

There is no other place a rather go to! Granello is my place to go! I love love love this place! I’m at Granello every now and then and they always make me satisfied with the food, service and obviously the atmosphere is fab! I totally recommend their tapas ( I always go for them when I’m peckish ) what I can recommend is the hummus with bread, honey whipped feta cheese with pita bread, their bang bang cauliflower and the mozzarella arancini, if I wouldn’t take the tapas my favourite would be the noodle bang bang chicken 🩷👌🏼 Granello lounge is my happy place! During one period I had to go none dairy and I can totally recommend their vegan menu as well, I want to eat it all 😇🤣 The people working there are sweethearts, I couldn’t recommend them more

Love it here, casual, good food

I love this place! The interior is beautiful with loads of funky artwork and fabulous decor. The food is so good-such a wide range of menu options and they seem to get everything right. They have a special menu for gluten free which is great for my friend. The burgers are lush, as is the lamb flatbread. I wanted everything on the menu. Plus they will adapt things and can’t do enough to help!

Couldn't give rating for food as didn't eat there. Myself,husband and our friends with their dog visited Hitchin on Friday 29th Dec. The lovely staff made us so welcome and bought a bowl of water over for the dog. Big coincidence was that our friends life near Grantham in Lincolnshire where there is another cafe in this chain. Thank you for the great,friendly service

Had a lovely lunch with a friend who has dietary needs. The staff were very diligent and provided a suitable menu. They asked.about whether it was an allergy or intolerance and made sure her food was correcrly delivered. This is a place my.friend trusts to eat in due to their careful handling of her dietary needs. I enjoyed my all time favourite fish finger sandwich which as always did not disappoint!

Fantastic night on the 15th for my work's Xmas meal hosted primarily by Harry and his amazing serving staff. Food was delicious, the service was fast and attentive. They even took the spreadsheet I had made organising 21 people and brought food out catered to names which I thought was a genius and wonderful touch. Such a warm atmosphere and quaint place. As some who has been before I will definitely be returning. Thank you guys for a wonderful night ❤️

I’m on a no added salt, no added sugar & no oil plant based diet. Maisy, Charlotte and the other member of the team who was a gentleman went above and beyond to cater to my needs and advising me of the most suitable dishes. The food was absolutely astonishing. I unreservedly recommend visiting this place. 5* staff & 5* food

Not bad had a hallumi burger my daughter a lounge breakfast was a bit greasy but enjoyed the honeycomb iced coffee love the interior overall ok nice atmosphere!

Really nice brunch with my friend today, served by Maisie at the bar, who was very friendly and informative. George served our food to us and he was so attentive to our needs. Our table was promptly cleared and I noticed that George was keeping the area very tidy. Also lovely to be thanked and said goodbye too. Lovely place to catch up with friends and great food too. 👍

Horrendous brunch experience. Inattentive staff, very long wait for lunch. My meal was cold and missing key ingredients - I had to go and find someone to ask if they had run out of avocado or if I could please have some. Feels like they are out of their depth, maybe the menu is too big!? Coffee was weak and bitter. Much better brunch can be found at other cafes in hitchin.

Apart from one young lady, the rest of your staff are all about as usefull as chocolate teapots No attention to there customers to the point I asked for a glass of tap water and got told to go and get it myself. Where the young lady had already given us one. Please remember that this is a customer service job which you are all apart from one person terrible at. Absolutely diabolical

Nice chilled drink. Bit of a wait for drinks and also food, but food tends to be worth it (when eaten there before).

Nice food. A good relaxed atmosphere for a casual meal and drinks, not the cheapest place but it's good food so that's understandable. If there's a few of you get pitchers to make the drinks cheaper. Loads of different styles of menu's for veggie, gluten free ect. Staff helpful and nice décor with sofas ect.

Fantastic food and service. Love that calories are listed on the menu. Food was just so tasty.

Love this place for the simple fact that the wife and I can share 3 very tasty vegetarian tapas with a drink each for around £20.

Nice place to have food or a drink, can take dogs if you want, open late Sundays for coffee or snacks

As usual a very long wait for food. Nearly an hour. Won't be going back.

Good food, relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices

Ordered two portions of halloumi fries with our meal, only one arrived. Repeated asking where the other portion was, it finally arrived way after we had all finished our meals. My friend had a 2.5cm square piece of fried plastic in her meal (no, it definitely wasn't egg white!). The waiter said he'd take it back to the kitchen but no-one offered a reason or an apology. My lounge eggs with smoked salmon arrived with the salmon between the muffin and egg, meaning the salmon was hot and cooked, and the avocado side arrived on a hot plate. Not overly impressed.

Slow and not great service at all. Try and avoid if yiu want something friendly and quick

Lovely brunch spot with extensive menu. Would be great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Ambience and vibe felt like Cafe Rouge but with a much more interesting menu. Children friendly. Nice fluffy pancakes, super avocado smash. Didn't have pink lemonade in stock at time of visit which was a bit disappointing, otherwise 5*.

Great. Nice atmosphere. Good food. Friendly staff. Good seating. Would possibly say maybe the music is a touch too loud that within a small group it's hard to completely talk with each other without being ear to ear.

Very nice food and service but disappointed to see the serving staff clean up food spilt on the floor and wipe it off the bottom of their shoe with a cloth and then not wash their hands afterwards before serving more food. Not very hygienic.

Updated review: further to the below Granello made contact with my wife and offered her a voucher to say sorry for the poor experience. We took them up on the offer and I must say it was a far nicer visit for us, so we would visit again. Hopefully this remains a consistent level of service going forward. Thanks to the management for a great complaint resolution approach. Original review: I have been here and the sister branch culvito (Letchworth) on a few occasions. Generally been a pleasant experience, never mind blowing but ok when out with kids. Yesterday fell well short though. No ice so they couldn’t make a number of drinks and the drinks they did serve were generally not chilled as a result, a number of items weren’t available from the menu, including a number of the kids items which made ordering for our 2 year old more stressful particularly as he’d already picked what he wanted, the service was super slow (it wasn’t busy whatsoever), again not great when out with a toddler as he was climbing the walls by the time the food came. To top it off the baby change facilities were out of order so my wife had to change our sons nappy on the restaurant floor. Staff seemed pretty disengaged and uninterested. It’s certainly put us off using as a go to with the kids and will look around for other local places.

Very poor service, senior staffer left young member of staff at the till without any trace customer service experience then became condescending when I made a decision based upon information only extracted after protracted discussion. That said, the aubergins Katsu curry was nice.

Nice surroundings. I went late afternoon and it was very quite. Food still took quite a while to arrive and it was just OK. Others food looked nicer. I wasn't a fan of the herby chicken. Burgers looked great.

Excellent burgers! Milk shakes rather disappointing as all froth and very little milk!

Service was a bit off, we waited close to 10 minutes between the first plate to arrive and the other 2 plates to arrive at our table. When it did arrive the food wasn't all that warm anymore. Steak was alright, was cooked medium rare as ordered but a little bit on the tough side. The burger was quite decent but the coleslaw was quite unpleasant. The kids menu chicken strips were a bit dry and a bit salty especially for a children's dish. All in all the setting itself is quite nice and relaxed to be at, their drinks are nice bit their food could do with some improvements as well as the service

Been here loadsss of times, always great service and tasty food. It’s the perfect place to go and chill, and as a student i frequently come here to do work on my laptop on one of the cosy chairs and staff are always supportive and allow me to use the plug sockets. relatively cheap too! the relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to chill, alone or with friends :))

Very busy so our group of 6 had a few minutes wait for a table. Staff advised there would be a 40-50 minute delay in our food arriving but it was worth the wait. A new menu, good food, a relaxed atmosphere, with no pressure to 'eat up and move on'. In all we were there for over 5 hours chatting, catching up with friends after Covid. Definitely coming back...

Have had several great experiences here. Allergen awareness is in itself a five star rating. Most places are horrified and/or terrified when I mention my allergies, but not the Granello Lounge. Food is also great, particularly the pancakes (my personal favourite). We will be coming back!

Great place. I came in with a friend during their busy time and with a x2 prams and staff was friendly and very helpful. Luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table, we wer seated straight away with lots of room for our prams. They did tell us that because it’s very busy the food will take time which was fine. Food arrived much faster then I expected (no complaints there) I’ve only been ordering tapas (which are amazing) but I’m sure the rest of the food on the menu is just as good. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back soon 😁

Constantly disappointed by Granello. I feel that it is not the staff's fault, they clearly haven't been trained. Slow to acknowledge that you are waiting. Never clear your table when you have finished eating even when asked. I understand when busy, but even when it's quiet tables just sit with dirty dishes. What a shame.

Very child pet friendly Food good value and nice

A great atmosphere, an amazing menu and a huge gluten free menu which my step son was hugely impressed with and wonderful service from a lovely waitress called Safi who looked after us superbly. We will definitely be coming again!

I went for dinner tonight with the local family I’m pet and house sitting for. There were seven of us ordering a variety of dishes. I had the bang bang noodles and chicken - okay but I would have preferred more spice and peppery heat. Everyone elses food looked good. We had a big table near the back so it was relatively quiet. Good service, pleasant setting.

Great staff, great decor and atmosphere, service is slow but the food is good.
