Well what a gem of a Pub/Accommodation found for an all out family affair. Booked for the Saturday night through till Monday for a family get together for Mothers day with other family members joing Sunday. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Katy who is lovely and very professional even though the resteraunt was extremely busy yet we were made to feel centre of attention. The room upstairs above the resteraunt was ready early so we were able to settle in. The Room was medium sized and cozy and the bathroom had recently been refurbished. Note our room was shower only no bath. Went off for the day with family and they phoned to ask if we needed a table for Dinner as it was getting booked up. Really nice touch to think about your Residents. Came in for dinner that evening and the food was outstanding. When they say homemade they really mean it. The Pie was made on site and probably the best pie I have ever eaten. Managed to speak to Paul the owner to pass on my congratulations on the standard of food and what a nice guy he is. Very personable with an excellent attitude towards Hospitality standards and the customer experience. Paul found out we were staying till Monday and generously upgraded my Mother in Laws room to a suite at no cost. A Big shout out to the Breakfast lady who is absolutely a breath of fresh air and I believe is the Mother in Law of Paul. Overall fantastic business with amazing owners and staff/excellent food and a great place to stay.

Would avoid unless you want burgers it was terrible food the pub was nearly empty and the menu was mostly burgers a few chicken and rice dishes not what I was expecting I thought when I booked the table it was street food for takeaway not for the restaurant I thought they had a different menu would not come here again

Once a thriving greengrocer with fresh produce and queues to be served in which it was well worth waiting. Now more of an ingredients shop with expensive vegetables that looked a poor relation to those we usually get from the supermarket. Must be sustained by the cafe which we did not try as there was hardly anyone in the new style food store. Non longer worth a special trip for us to visit. How long can it survive like this?

Excellent food and friendly service. A cut above the average pub food with a nice atmosphere inside and a pretty beer garden out back. Definitely recommended.

Been in before a couple months back and had nice tea and scone - no issues. However yesterdays Afternoon Tea choice was big let down - way too little sandwiches - way too much cake - way overpriced

One of our favourite place to visit for a small bite, a real treat for my children! There is accessible parking close to the doors, accessible entrance and accessible toilet facilities (the door is not weighted and holds itself open which most accessible facilities forget!). The cafe is quite crowded with tables but staff are very proactive at helping and creating space when needed. A good range of treats, sausage rolls and scones are my childrens favourite. Always affordable prices too, a snack and drink for two kids is always less than £8. There are no gluten free options but it is a very small cafe so it would be very difficult to have a specific contamination-free zone to facilitate allergies/intolerances. There are no fresh fruit options either. Staff are always helpful, friendly and non-judgemental. My son has developmental disabilities which can make visits out to places uncomfortable but the staff here have never been anything but welcoming and compassionate. Its often quiet when we visit which is helpful for us as both kids can get overwhelmed quite easily. We love to spend some time in the park after so makes for a cheap and wholesome afternoon or morning out :) The hall itself has lots to offer for everyone - Karate for adults and children, Megabops childrens dance which is a wonderful sensory experience, Sewing group and much more! I wish our village had this wonderful facility but I am grateful its only a short drive from us!

I’ve given this two stars because the young waitstaff were kind and courteous. Otherwise it would have been one star. I set up this account specifically for this review. I don’t normally do reviews. Second sitting of Christmas lunch. We arrived early, we were seated promptly and given drinks. Then the food arrived. The soup was tepid. The starters (ham hock or salmon pate) were average. The mains were like motorway service station / hospital canteen food (which is perhaps unfair to some hospitals)… massively overcooked vegetables (possibly sitting around since the first serving), again tepid, we left half of it and I hate leaving food. The nut roast was the worse I’ve ever seen. It’s supposed to be a chunky loaf type of thing. It was a disaster, sprinkled all over the plate, dry, flavourless. Christmas pudding with piping hot Devon custard came with lukewarm custard which could have come from the Outer Hebrides. We never got our mince pies. It was Christmas, we were going to leave without saying anything assuming it was an off day. But the kind waitstaff asked for our feedback, I guess seeing all was not right with our guest experience. We gave our honest feedback which was kindly relayed to the kitchen. The feedback response from the kitchen was relayed by the poor bemused-looking waitstaff was (hold your breath) “nobody else has complained”. The payment desk was right outside the kitchen on the way out. No word from the chef themselves or the manager. £420 for three adults and a child. Horrendous.

Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x

We went Boxing Day for a walk around the shops and then to silver spoon for something to eat, I had a big breakfast and Hubbie had a builders breakfast, OMG they were lovely, you get loads and it’s very hot and excellent quality products, we love it here. Would always recommend you go to here if you want a good priced and excellent value and quality food. It’s always spotless and everyone is very welcoming, we love it!

Lovely location in a very pretty village. Friendly staff. Service was slow but they did apologise for that. Food was absolutely fine but we thought that £3 for a very small glass of Sicilian Lemonade was overpriced.
