The menu on Google is completely incorrect however the Phat Pats new menu is very nice burgers street food etc but wasn’t what we expected based on the menu listed on Google.

Been to the Nelson several times before and always enjoyed the food and service, but went back two days ago to find it's changed to a burger house. The food was acceptable but not what was advertised on their website. Sadly we won't be going back which is a shame as we live locally and liked to use the Nelson as our go to pub for a meal out.

I don't very often leave reviews but felt I should for The Nelson. We stopped off for lunch on drive from Derbyshire to Suffolk and it was well worth the mini detour. We had a great lunch, we'd only planned on a sandwich but ended up with a bit more! :) Lovely service, really friendly and efficient and great pub grub. Lots of lovely choice on the menu, sure we'll pop in again next time thank you!

My wife’s brother was up from London to meet his newly found sister, who lives in Lincoln so, having done a recce decided on here. Staff were warm and welcoming and the food was great. In my top five of the world for ploughman’s and the seafood platter to share was massive! An old style pub which we are sadly losing a lot of recently, I would be more than happy to have this as my local.

Just popped in as lived two houses away growing up so I was so happy so see the brilliant transformation. We got a very friendly greeting from Ellie as we walked through the door. Decided to have lunch which was excellent and reasonably priced. Even our dog got a warm welcome and a bowl of water. A lovely atmosphere and we will definitely pop in again when we’re passing through the village.,

Came on the 17th with my son Matthew to try the launch of the new menu. Having eaten here several times under the new name, including Christmas Day, we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service as always was excellent. Jess was on that night and spent time chatting with us, but all the staff are warm and welcoming. Looking forward to returning soon. Worth the short drive to get out of Lynn.

Having come away for Xmas with family and this being the pub local to us, I Cannot recommend this place enough. We went there last night with the in laws and their dog (having checked prior) and he was given just as much of a warm welcome as we were! We ordered 6 steaks and there wasn’t a scrap of food left on any of our plates! The staff, the food and the venue were all brilliant, wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend!

My wife needs persuading to go out! She loved the Lord Nelson, its lovely decor, brilliant disabled toilets, excellent food, good value and warm welcome. We will return soon. I run a small music charity for children and the musicians love it too.

Recently moved to the area and so decided to try out the local. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. Although it was very quiet (early evening) the staff were really attentive. What’s more they seemed to be happy and cheerful which is sadly lacking in many places these days. It made a pleasant change to be greeted and welcomed as I walked through the door. The girl who did was cheerful and even asked if I would like a table or a seat in the bar. The chap behind the bar kept my drink topped up and also made me feel really welcome. Although I did not eat on this occasion I did see AND smell food that others had ordered and will most definitely be coming back to try!! The bar had a wide selection of spirits and drinks to choose from from what I could see. There must be a lot of local gin drinkers as half the shelf was full of the stuff. Not being much of a spirit drinker myself I had a German sounding beer which I can confidently say hit the spot just right.

Beautiful roast, good service. Will definitely come back for another! We shared a roast beef platter that could easily feed 3 people, great value for money. Nice pub to have on our doorstep.

We went for Sunday lunch for a belated birthday celebration. The star is the roast lunch, either individual or a shared platter. We had pork and beef, the meat was fantastic and the vegetables were crisp not soggy, the gravy was to die for, as was the Yorkshire pud. As a surprise my husband had ordered a cake, this was a delicious chocolate ganache cake with candles. The service is great, friendly and accommodating, nothing is a problem. Thankyou to Ellie and her staff.

Went in Restaurant Week to give it a try. Staff excellent and friendly. Food good and plenty of it. Place empty (was a Monday lunch and not normally open) so ambience a little lacking. Would recommend.

We live part time in the next village and wanted a Sunday late lunch (very late) in the afternoon. We had visited the Nelson a few times and before under its old name of the Partridge for BOTH lunch and dinner. They took out late booking of 4PM even though they closed at 5PM. We were greeted as soon as we came in the entrance door and shown to a table and asked what we wanted to drink whilst we looked at the menu. I ordered the mushroom soup to start followed by roast pork and Mrs Astute ordered a prawn cocktail followed by the roast chicken. We both enjoyed 2 first class meals and an excellent friendly service. The overall bill was very reasonable. We will continue to return and more than happy to recommend this pub/restaurant.

We went with friends to try the Sunday Roast . The wife had Pork and I had Beef . Very warm welcome and good service . However both our Dinners was Luke warm and the gravy very thin and runny no taste ! Quite disappointing. Very limited deserts choice of Crem Brûlée or Eat & Mess . My friend and I had Eat & Mess at £7.50 tasty but disappointed very small portion certainly not worth £7.50 ! On a good point had a pint of Ghost Ship which was nice . Overall 5 / 10 expected better .

We booked in for an evening meal during Norfolk Restaurant Week having never been to The Nelson before. We were not disappointed at all. Our waitress, was very attentive and we were sat at our table straight away with drinks delivered quickly. For starters we had the halloumi and the pork bon bons, both dishes were delicious and presented beautifully. Our mains of beef short rib and the steak arrived quickly, and we're equally delicious. The short rib was so tender and fell off the bone, the steak was like butter and melted in my mouth! Dessert for my husband was creme brulee and he assured me it was the best he had ever had (and he's had a lot!). every dish was presented beautifully and cooked perfectly. The waitress was so lovely, and appeared genuinely happy that we had enjoyed our meal. We would highly recommend The Nelson to anyone who enjoys an excellent meal in a nice village pub.

Three of us had a delightful lunch on the first day of Norfolk Restaurant Week. We could not have chosen better for our first meal at The Nelson. Sea bream and two curries were so tasty and beautifully presented. We moved on to salted chocolate slice and two creme brûlée. All three were exceptional. We congratulate the chef on excellent dishes and commend the service which was friendly and helpful.

It’s lovely inside, so much to look at and things for sale too. I ordered a sausage egg and bacon roll. It was quite big! It came on a warm plate and the meat was from priors butchers. The teapots and crockery were vintage, loved them. I saw they catered well for gluten free and vegetarian options too. The cafe is dog friendly so as a dog lover, sitting by the door was fun to greet them as they came in. Can’t fault the food, parking, and all the lovely things to look at. I think it could be made more cosy by maybe putting up small partitions/ trellis in some areas maybe. They had a large selection of amazing cakes too!

Excellent dog friendly cafe. Friendly staff, good selection of reasonably priced food, including vegetarian and vegan options. Our dog loved the home baked dog biscuits.

Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x

We only had a 90 minutes visit and wanted a snack. We had the best toasties ever 😍 My companion had a ham and cheese granary brown bread toastie served with a lovely salad and a cup of tea. I had a chicken and bacon granary brown toastie with a diet coke. It was absolutely lovely and so was the service, I have to congratulate Georgie and her staff. The price, £16 in all, was pretty reasonable too.
