Very welcoming staff, beer good and food excellent. Would highly recommend the carvery and for desert the crumble with custard and ice cream

Really lovely stay at the swan 😊 I arrived incredibly late due to a satnav issue I got there just before closing, my sister had rung ahead for me to make them aware, I finally arrived to a warm welcome from the member of staff that was on the bar which was really appreciated after a somewhat stressful drive. My room was lovely they have redecorated since my last visit and it looks much lighter and brighter throughout everywhere, the room was incredibly clean and had tea and coffee facilities, the WiFi connection upstairs was very good. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. My sister, brother in law and my nephew joined me for food the following day at lunchtime and we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices, the staff on duty were great all were polite and helpful, I stayed that evening also and had another good nights sleep. Had the buffet breakfast Sunday morning and was not disappointed 😊 It’s a good base to discover quite a few places of interest in the area as well as going further afield in Norfolk. Every member of staff I encountered during my two night stay were friendly and courteous, would definitely recommend and return to stay again.

PLEASE PLEASE avoid The Swan, aweful, intimidating, staff very rude and threatening environment. Advertised Sunday carvery, but on arrival told not available so had to put up with a roast dinner which was reheated, must have been left under a heat lamp which made the 3 small roast potatoes rock hard, very disappointing. Was promised 2 downstairs rooms which would give easy access to dogs, but was given rooms upstairs which had mould on the ceiling in our room, which was stated in a previous review, so no action ever taken. When asked the staff for a table to relax and have a drink, they were abrupt and would not let us sit in bar area even though it was empty. Absolutely ruined our anniversary so much so we didn’t even stay the night. Asked manager for refund who obviously said no and wanted to continue conversation outside with another male member of staff coming out with him, very threatening environment. SO AVOID THIS PLACE, waste of money.

Booked in for Sunday lunch to enjoy with all the family. Unfortunately fell and broke my leg a week before so couldn’t join them 😞 They all enjoyed a delicious Sunday dinner in a lovely friendly atmosphere, and brought me back one as a takeaway. So I was able to enjoy a good Sunday lunch as well. Thank you guys for the brilliant food, and I promise to bring the family back in 6 weeks time.

Last minute decision for a pub meal, we were recommended here and came with a ‘it’s a pub’ mindset. Little did we know it’s a little Gem! When they say home made it’s really home made! Amazing potion sizes and the Steak and Ale pie is out of this world with a short crust pastry solid chunks of steak and the creamiest ale gravy. After mentioning the deliciousness of this receipt did we get told the chef who founded it had passed away. His steak and Ale Pie will live on. Spot on!

when we arrived the staff made us feel really welcome the restaurant was lovely and the food was cheap but really nice the rooms have been recently refurbished and where spotless my girlfriend and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the swan to anyone and we will definitely be returning thanks to everyone at the swan

Lovely friendly pub, food was excellent, even better a huge gluten free menu. They even cooked some sausages for our dogs. A must visit.

Overnight stay with breakfast. Recently decorated, spotless, perfectly powerful shower, beds comfy. All-you-can eat breakfast was plentiful & delicious. Staff very friendly & could not do more to help.

Excellent food with very friendly staff. Burgers are amazing!!!!!! Definitely a must if visiting the area. Advisable to book as they do get busy especially at the weekend.

Lovely pub with good food we have more or less adopted this pub as our local and visit often .Staff always very pleasant and it’s nice they allow dogs.

Took visiting friends who hadn't been before, food good as usual but dissapointed with long wait of 50 mins ,had to ask for food. No explanation just rather abrupt "sorry for the wait " when served . Embarrassing for me,felt we were ignored.

First time of visiting... The staff we're friendly and helpful. The food we had was absolutely fantastic and good value fir money.

This was the third time we have popped in for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. They managed to fit us in although they were fully booked, and are friendly and welcoming. The food is great with a fairly varied menu, and the portion size is large. Homemade venison burger is terrific!

Food always excellent and varied with lots of specials for notable events during year. Always a 'go to' for an excellent time.

Went for lunch which was OK a couple came in with a large dog. They seemed to think everybody Loved their dog. The lady behind the bar went and stroked the dog allowing it to lick her hands. My wife asked her to wash her hands before serving our food. It was not long before another couple came in with a smaller dog. I believe pubs should post notices as to whether dogs are welcome. Would not use this pub again. Hygiene cannot be a priority.

Party of 6 called in after visiting Thursford show. Warm welcome, staff polite and friendly, service excellent and the food was first class. Very reasonable prices, varied menu, large portions, well presented and served If your looking for a wonderful place to eat, head to the Swan.

Stopped off here for a bite to eat on our journey to Blakeney. Are we glad we did! Food was excellent, good size portions and the staff were very friendly. Lovely okd building too, very welcoming. We will definitely visit again when next in that area.

For a family birthday celebration we selected the Swan. Evidently a popular destination, judging by the busy car park (not to mention their many 'good' and 'excellent' reviews), we were not disappointed! A traditional pub, with separate areas (rooms) accommodating well-spaced tables, clean and fresh. Once seated at our table, we couldn't see the bar/waiting staff most of the time, nevertheless, the service was excellent: as if by magic, staff were always on hand when we needed anything! There was an extensive choice of meals on the menus (I did get a bit confused with the my menu - worth noting that if you have anyone with gluten intolerance, a separate menu is provided making their selection a lot easier - my confusion was born of the fact that hadn't noticed the heading!) Our party ordered starters, main courses and desserts... Without exception, all the dishes were very nice indeed, fresh, home-made and hot - served with a smile. Thank you, Swan staff, for facilitating an excellent evening. The Swan will certainly be our 'local of choice' for the foreseeable future.

We stopped off here en route to Burnham Overy Town Friday evening before the bank holiday. It was busy both inside and out, as soon as we appeared in the doorway of the pub and a scottish gentleman behind the bar greeted us and advised we could have a table but it would have to be outside as they were full. We sat in the tent area as it was getting a bit chilly, we were served promptly, and yummy starters arrived quickly, I had a prawn dish which was delicious. Whilst we were waiting for our main, the man from behind the bar came to tell us that there was a table now free inside if we would like it. It was a big table but a really cosy room. Again our mains arrived quickly and were huge! We sat opposite a local couple who were very friendly. all in all it was such a lovely unexpected experience with all staff being friendly and efficient. We have already said we'll definitely be back when we go back up to Norfolk.

We were staying in Thetford forest and decided on last minute meal out. The lady at The Swan was very helpful, we sat outside as we had our dog with us. But meals & service were brilliant!

We booked 2 rooms ended up in a barn it had 2 rooms it was poor full of flies and smelly no luxury at all. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel are a room

Saw this pub on the way to a show ground and thought it looked inviting. Called in on the way back again on the off chance of a table. Decided to sit outside in the lovely evening sunshine. Service very swift and efficient and food arrived during the first half of a drink going down. Plates were lovely and warm and good very tasty and good value for money. Just wish this was our local back home!!

We have been visiting weekly as we have family staying close. Food is really, really good and there is plenty of choice if you are vegetarian/vegan. Not used to having so many options to choose from. Really nice to visit somewhere that caters for everyone.

We visit regularly, usually on a Tuesday evening. The welcome is always warm and friendly and the food, without exception is good.Always some specials. The service is usually fast. Prices are reasonable.

We have passed this venue many times when visiting friends and family nearby and thus never stopped before. However, today we stopped for a quick bite at lunchtime. We were greeted like old friends and placed our orders. Our drinks and food were quickly prepared and it was very good. The menu is extensive with many different choices. We went for sandwiches which came with a small salad and some chips. Next time we’re are passing on our way to see family we will certainly return.

Called i around 120 on Saturday lunchtime and it was a good job we did. As the pub became very busy subsequently and included several prior bookings. Handily situated on the main Swaffham to Brandon road this pub has been there for about 300 years but has had some tasteful upgrading since I last called. The service was friendly and informative and a choice of 2 quality ales was fine. I chose the steak and ale pie. Fantastic with mash and veg cooked just right. The fish and salad was also good and plenty of it. There is outside seating but take care when leaving the pub as some cars pass at unacceptable speed. Plenty of car parking available.

Met here with friends for lunch before visiting Thetford forest to walk. Welcomed and we were expecting a good wholesome lunch but we must have picked a bad day! Food took a long time to arrive and when it did it lacked flavour - and a Panini was so well done it was difficult to bite into. This was deducted from the meal cost and an alternative was offered but refused as time was against us. Overall value for money was not great. The other problem was that whilst there is a fly curtain at the main door from the car park there were a lot of flies coming into the bar area from the other side of the bar area. This was rather disruptive to our meal and one ended up in a pint of beer with at least half a glass left.So not our lucky day really. Memorable though all the same!

Recommended by our B and B owners in Mundford. On the first night we visited there was a classic car group meeting up, but the friendly Scottish landlord made sure he had room for us and was very attentive. We went back for lunch four days later. Good selection on the menu and again, a friendly reception from the landlord. Makes all the difference when people make an effort, thank you.

Came here for the first time in 23 years after living locally and always bypassing this pub. Was recommended it by a friend and they didn’t disappoint. Received a friendly welcome as soon as we came in which always helps. Was shown to a table in the restaurant which they had made very relaxing with individual tables with fairy lights and candles. The menu was extensive and I could have picked from several dishes. We had ribs and the venison burger which both turned out to be very tasty. My husband had a crumble which was equally as good . To summarise I would say definitely worth a visit and we will be back to visit again soon.

travelling home from a week on the Norfolk coast we came across this pub. Lovely day so we sat outside (although next the main road we didn't notice the traffic). Sausage and onion sandwich was delicious as was the whitebait. Generous portions, very reasonably priced. Staff very polite and helpful. Will definitely return when on holiday that way again.

OK, we are local. Swan is in our village, but that doesn't change the quality of this lovely pub and the food served. In fact my parents used to come up from the South coast and stay at the pub when visiting us, they loved it. But what about the food?We are dog owners and love the fact that the pub is dog friendly, so we can eat in the bar with the mutts. My two daughters love the place and it is a regular venue for any special meals out, or just if we feel like a little treat. Let me give you a taster. Partner's birthday last year we popped over for a meal in the bar. She is veggie and has a passion for cauliflower cheese, which the chef prepared for us as a special request (it was a week night) and it is possibly the best she has had in any restaurant. I had the monkfish from the specials board and, heavens to mergatroid!!! Never had such a nice fish dish.Our choice is to eat in the bar, my girls love it too (they are both in their 20's) and we always enjoy a meal there. Not sure any of us have had anything approaching a bad meal - deserts are pretty good too. I should also mention that they seem to keep their beers very well, it's a pleasure to enjoy a pint and the ales are always worth sampling.Can be busy at week ends, maybe other people like it too then? Well worth a visit. If you are visiting the North Norfolk coast, this is the perfect stop off en route there or home (about 40 minutes to the coast from here).

Daytime late lunch (they serve all day) Great brie and bacon panini and nice chips. Apple crumble good. All of us enjoyed our plentiful meals. Would go back to sample the main dishes / evening menu.

This pub has been recommended to me and I thought I would give it a go. Nice selection on menu and reasonably priced. Food very tasty and my husband commented how good the beer was and I had cider which was chilled perfectly Good service and will definitely be making a return visit.

We have used this pub a number of times in the evening during the week. The Staff are always friendly and efficient (even during a power cut). The food has always been good value.
