The atmosphere was lively and fun, very busy but we were welcomed by locals and staff alike. Our daughter (nearly 9) was abducted by the landlady’s daughter for a couple of hours and had a lovely time. The food was good but beware, the opening hours and food service times are limited so best to check before going! I loved the fact that it was a pub, not one of these modern bars/restaurants, unfortunately the only ale on tap was Greene King but I did enjoy the Newcastle Brown.

A lovely, proper pub. We stayed in the area for a few days and popped in there a couple of times. The Stella was the best I’ve had in years, very clean, you can tell they look after the lines there. All the staff and locals were really friendly. Definitely recommend

Fantastic afternoon in the newly refurbished now Newton George that was previously the George and Dragon. The food was delicious with a homely atmosphere. Friendly and efficient staff, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Not only is there a beautiful seating area outside at the rear of the pub to eat or to just have a drink, inside is just as accommodating with a rustic and homely pub feel. Will definitely visit again and again.

We were staying nearby in the village. The pub is located overlooking the village pond and is in a very peaceful setting. It is not open 7 days a week nor does it serve food every day, so do check. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. The menu is very simple but it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a local pub. The interior is as you'd expect, with seating and a pool table. Tables and bench seating are located outside for customers to sit outside in good weather. TripAdvisor doesn't allow for a 'good' rating , which is what I would give it.

We only had a 90 minutes visit and wanted a snack. We had the best toasties ever 😍 My companion had a ham and cheese granary brown bread toastie served with a lovely salad and a cup of tea. I had a chicken and bacon granary brown toastie with a diet coke. It was absolutely lovely and so was the service, I have to congratulate Georgie and her staff. The price, £16 in all, was pretty reasonable too.

Excellent dog friendly cafe. Friendly staff, good selection of reasonably priced food, including vegetarian and vegan options. Our dog loved the home baked dog biscuits.

Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x

The menu on Google is completely incorrect however the Phat Pats new menu is very nice burgers street food etc but wasn’t what we expected based on the menu listed on Google.

It’s lovely inside, so much to look at and things for sale too. I ordered a sausage egg and bacon roll. It was quite big! It came on a warm plate and the meat was from priors butchers. The teapots and crockery were vintage, loved them. I saw they catered well for gluten free and vegetarian options too. The cafe is dog friendly so as a dog lover, sitting by the door was fun to greet them as they came in. Can’t fault the food, parking, and all the lovely things to look at. I think it could be made more cosy by maybe putting up small partitions/ trellis in some areas maybe. They had a large selection of amazing cakes too!
