An absolutely wonderful place to eat. Staff were very attentive, as they bought some warm rolls and butter as we had to wait a little while for our meal. Their carvery gravy is to die for so rich and flavoursome. Well worth going to if you're in the area.

I visited with my family for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. The food was cooked perfectly and everything was tasty. Amazing Yorkshire pudding and plenty of veg. The kids couldn't get enough of the roasted carrots and parsnips - delicious! Service was efficient, but not rushed and the staff are what really stood out. Incredibly friendly, personable and attentive. They know what great customer service is. We can't wait to visit again.

Previous visits have been pleasant even though the seating area in front of the bar and reception makes it feel as though you are dining in a village hall. The new(?) menu looked interesting and with some mains upward of £25, we expected better. After a 45 minute wait (restaurant was not busy) the dishes looked well presented but sadly, one was overcooked and the other under seasoned and fairly tasteless. The meal was somewhat redeemed by the desserts.

We had breakfast here and ordered a "Full English" that cost us £10.50 each!! It comprised of a small slice of toast, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 mushroom, some really anemic looking beans, and 2 rashers of bacon. For the price, it was a very small portion. You could taste that they were the cheapest of the cheap sausage and bacon that were used, and cheap beans aswell.. so the price isn't really justified anywhere. We also ordered a glass of orange juice for something silly like £2.50. It was again, the cheapest of the cheap orange juice from concentrate so was extremely acidic and hard to enjoy. I think for the prices charged, they should be using better quality food or increasing the portion size a bit. I've never paid so much for such a shocking breakfast. The staff were friendly though!

We've missed so many birthdays and anniversaries because of COVID, this was an important occasion for the family to be together for a "proper" Sunday Lunch. The food was great for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, the portions just right, the service attentive without being intrusive. Happy people all round - we all had a great time. Highly recommended (but if I were you I'd book just to make sure you get a table).

Our order came freshly cooked and it was a beautifully cooked salmon. We might have enjoyed a dessert or even a coffee if anyone had bothered to ask if we enjoyed out meal or came over with a dessert menu. No staff member came anywhere near out table once the meal had been served and we had to wait at the bar to pay until a member of staff had time for us. I have never known it like this before and it does put me off reccommending the place again although the chef is great. Please get this sorted I want to feel valued when I pay out money!

Visited for a Saturday evening with friends and it was so good we booked for Sunday lunch the following day. The food was absolutely amazing, extremely good. A little on the expensive side but well worth it. My only complaint is the Covid charge! £2 per person!! What on earth is this for? Yes the staff wear masks and there is hand sanitiser, but does this warrant the additional charge? Surely it can’t be for cleaning because it’s a restaurant so I’d expect it to be clean anyway. And why is it a charge per person and not per booking!!! So excellent food but begrudge the Covid charge. The bill for our Sunday lunch, 5 adults and 1 child was £165. This was 2 starters, 6 main meals (1 was a child’s) and 6 desserts. One bottle of wine and the rest were soft drinks.

Living in this part of Cambridgeshire it’s difficult to find a nice restaurant and more so for a special occasion. But this place can provide this and if it’s nice you don’t mind paying a bit extra. A good choice of menu and it was nice that there was gluten free alternatives as one of our party had to be catered for. Staff were very attentive and help make our night which was a celebration of a Wedding Anniversary and a first new home. Something to please everybody from starters through mains and superb puddings then washed down with special coffees. Thank you to The Moorings.

Also it doesn’t even come with sides, then beer at £5 a pint?? We aren’t in London!!Waaaaaay over priced. Best part is the staff are super friendly but that won’t be what gets me to return.

We visited the restaurant here with some friends but found the menu lacking in variety and the place void of atmosphere. Not having much to choose from the menu I ordered steak well done. It arrived with all our orders but it was not well done more like medium rare. I did not complain as our company of friends had booked this venue and thought it inappropriate to be a spoilsport. I could not finish my meal and found the whole occasion uncomfortable. The meal was also quite expensive for what was on offer and I would be very reluctant to go back. A very prominent feature here also was the lack of customers on a Friday evening.

Had a meal out as a family. Food was lovely. We both had the Chargrilled Pork Belly for starters which was lovely. Followed by the Pan fried Duck breast and Rolled breast of Lamb. These were also both very lovely. Presentation very good too, modern. Little girl had spaghetti bolognese which was tasty, and Garlic bread - but this was so oily it was not edible. Desserts unfortunately were a let down. Had the Strawberry Eton Mess, which was really disappointing, it was all just slopped together you couldn't see or taste the different textures of the cream, strawberries or meringue. And having had very well presented starters and mains was expecting something as spectacular for dessert. In saying this I will return again for another meal, I just wont have the Eton Mess.

I used TripAdvisor to find a restaurant in the Wisbech area to dine in with local friends and The Moorings came up well reviewed.I am sure it is well respected and fairs well against local competition, but I feel compelled to review the restaurant for its culinary and atmospheric merits. The atmosphere first. The dining room / bar / lounge are all in one open plan area (which includes the Hotels reception). We dined on a Saturday evening and found the atmosphere casual and inviting. The dress code id casual. The service is pleasant and personable, but not overly attentive (if you need attention you will need to attract a waiter, they won't be checking on you). The food is far from gourmet. Meet seems to be their speciality, though fish is on the menu and vegetarians are catered for. Sadly, the preparation is not great. My wife had mullet which was badly overcooked and place on something unidentifiable. I had a rack of ribs which faired better but were nothing special. A side order of onion rings were served in an oily batter, not good.Staying in the hotel we also breakfasted here. I chose the small English and my wife scrambled eggs. Everything on my plate (except the fried egg) had been through a deep fat fryer, including the black pudding. Far far to oily, not good. My wife's eggs were very wet, acceptable, but only just.I apologise for the negative review as I don't think you can get anything better in the area but it is not a venue of note.

We eat at the Moorings restaurant often. The food is clearly freshly produced with care and attention to detail. You can enjoy simple food done well or treat yourself from the a la carte menu. Often people think that this place is posh and too expensive. That couldn't be any further from the truth. Non pretentious great food with warm service. Clean surroundings with attention to detail. Cosy fireplaces and climate controlled heating and cooling to back it up. We are very lucky to have this nearby and always look forward to our return. Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x

It’s lovely inside, so much to look at and things for sale too. I ordered a sausage egg and bacon roll. It was quite big! It came on a warm plate and the meat was from priors butchers. The teapots and crockery were vintage, loved them. I saw they catered well for gluten free and vegetarian options too. The cafe is dog friendly so as a dog lover, sitting by the door was fun to greet them as they came in. Can’t fault the food, parking, and all the lovely things to look at. I think it could be made more cosy by maybe putting up small partitions/ trellis in some areas maybe. They had a large selection of amazing cakes too!
