The Crown in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Booked into The Crown for Bed and Breakfast as was so close to Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall and Sandringham. Lovely old place..spotless relaxing decor with lovely bar,and restaurant and helpful young staff. Wonderful room and so a great nights' sleep and then a fantastic breakfast choice...of course a great Full English...but i had Porridge with Honey and then Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Egg on Brioche Toast....Delicious ! Best place to stay in the area !

We were passing by and dropped in for lunch. A lovely meal with friendly service. Nice modern decor. Would recommend this pub.

Warm welcome. Excellent food and service. Called in on way to coast. Lovely pub, light and airy. Tempura prawns and Moules were superb starters and the Fish and Chips were really nice too. Finished with a coffee outside in the sunshine. Dog friendly and reasonably priced. Will be returning.

I stayed at The Crown in September for four nights with four friends as part of our cycling holiday. We were given a warm welcome. The bedrooms were simply furnished but impeccably clean and comfortable. My bathroom (Room 6) can fairly be described as small but with an excellent shower. We had breakfast and dinner at The Crown on each day of our stay. The food was truly excellent. The young ladies who served (all locals I believe) were charming, helpful and efficient. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub and the breakfast is delicious well worth it and friendly happy staff

It took over an hour for our food to come. From a menu of 8 options for mains including specials, I ordered the halibut to be told they had run out. So we ordered 2x pork bellies. 15 minutes later we told that they only had 1x pork belly available! Had to order a 3rd option of burger, so over an hour passed before our food came out. Food was very average and very over priced with the pork belly very tough and poorly cooked. Staff showed poor understanding and seemed very unorganised. Perhaps it was just bad night for them, but since the visit everyone has told us to avoid so you make your own choice. We won’t be back … so many better places around !

Great food, wonderful atmosphere, a lovely village pub that is super dog friendly too!

We live 10 minutes away from The Crown and have visited on a number of occasions. We pre-booked a meal with visiting friends for Saturday of BH weekend. However when we turned up for our booking the lady front of house was unable to find our reservation and was quite dismissive asking if I’d booked the right Crown. I withdrew and checked my phone to confirm the reservation was correct but on trying to show the lady she was more interested in seating other guests who’s reservation they had got right and it was made clear to me there was nothing they were going to do to remedy the situation so we had to leave and make other arrangements. I later wrote to them again pointing out their mistake but received no reply. In the past the food and service has been good, such a shame the first point of contact on this occasion was so poor. We all make mistakes but it’s how you rectify and learn from them that’s important.

Nice Sunday Roast, with helpful staff

The room was clean and fresh. It was a very hot and humid night so we did have a little road noise as we had the windows open but it didn’t bother us. We also made use of the fan provided in the room-lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was really good, the cooked options were delicious and the service was excellent. We had dinner too which was also very good, a slight hiccup with a missing food item but very quickly rectified. Again, staff were attentive and friendly. We look forward to the next time we visit the village and stay again.

We come here often and had dinner last night. The service was excellent from Ellie and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The atmosphere is always buzzing with a mixture of locals and tourists. With a wide variety of great pubs to choose from in the area, the Crown has always been our favourite. Thank you for another lovely evening.

We visited on a sunny Sunday for lunch and had prebooked a table. It was moderately busy with a few people sat outside and just one couple at the bar. Unfortunately, we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to be spoken to/ served. (There were at least 3 waiting staff chatting by the bar, one bar lad who didn't even acknowledge us.) We were sat in a quiet, corner spot and offered drinks. These didn't take to long to arrive and lunch order taken. The food came after a short while and was OK. Nice roast beef but 2 small slices, overdone roast potatoes, a singular peeled whole carrot, tasty red cabbage and white cabbage, al dente broccoli and not very cheesey cauliflower cheese. Oh, and a crispy Yorkshire pudding with gravy too. I wouldn't say the food was poor, but I was certainly disappointed with the quality or variety. It didn't seem to align with the surroundings or price. Perhaps if service had of been top notch we may have felt differently.

We have eaten here regularly over a number of years and have always enjoyed it but went again recently and were very disappointed. We ordered Tempura Prawns as our starter which we’ve had several times before. The price had gone up which we anticipated but we were shocked when it arrived - 4 prawns for £9.95. Not only have they increased the price but reduced the serving as well. Originally we used to get 7, then 6 now 4! For our main course we ordered roast pork. (£17.95). On the plus side the veggies were lovely but unfortunately the gravy was bland, there were only two small slices of pork, the roast potatoes were hard rather than crispy and the plates were cold so the whole meal got cold very quickly. The staff are very good and there is a nice atmosphere. However, in light of the above, we shall not be visiting again any time soon.

I couldn't believe how shrimpy the so called torpedo prawns were! You get 4 battered shrimps, each having a diameter of 5mm (I kid you not), encased by thick batter, and they charge you over £10 for the pleasure. Never again. One has got to ask how much it would have cost them if they had used decent ingredients? 30p more? Dreadful.

When visiting Norfolk I love to eat here. The pub serves really nice food with several vegetarian options. It has a very nice, very welcoming feeling and all the staff are lovely!

Called in on a Friday for lunch. We hadn’t booked and had simply done a quick search for a pub for lunch. We had great welcome and a table was found straight away. The meal and service were fantastic. We will definitely be returning. We returned for lunch again yesterday. We arrived around 1:30 on a Monday in late June without booking. We were immediately welcomed and seated. Our order arrived very fast and was fantastic do full marks once again.

Lovely Sunday lunch with fantastically friendly staff. Great portions and although the pub was packed there wasn't a feeling of being forgotten, just the right wait time between courses. Thank you to all the hard workers looking after us.

We had a great dinner at The Crown Inn, for our first night staying in Rudham we treated ourselves to a delicious pub meal. We booked the day before to make sure we had a table as we’d heard it can get quite busy. We had fish and chips, the house burger and fritters, as a starter, our meal was delicious and great value for money, will definitely go again when we visit Norfolk :)

If you want to Eat you will need to book, it looks lovely inside. Didn't have anything, walk in the people round the bar just stared. The staff were not helpful feels like it was locals only. But it has good reviews so maybe it was a off day

Lovely pub right on the village green. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. We returned with a group of 17 for dinner and the service and food were great.

A lovely Inn, with fantastic staff. The room was comfortable and the breakfast on the first day and evening meal on both days were top quality and delicious. On Sunday they started playing music at just before 7am which woke me up which was a shame (maybe room no 2 is over the speaker). Unfortunately on the Sunday the Eggs Benedict were not cooked well (though the quality was excellent. Eggs hard, bacon undercooked (I had asked for well done) the muffin was not toasted and did not seem fresh. Though I also had th yogurt, granola, fresh fruit and compote which were all excellect so not a comple fail and certainly my weekend was five star otherwise. I would return.

We were made very welcome from the start, the room was nice, clean, and tidy. The food was excellent we had beer battered, haddock, it was amazing. Will most definitely be staying again. Can't recommend it high enough.

Been tonight for a meal with our two dogs. As it’s Norfolk food week they had a set menu although some usual meals were available as specials. We had the sea bream and the goulash and finished with the peanut butter crème brûlée. Really enjoyed all the food although could have done with a little more with the goulash (still it was really tasty). Staff were great and friendly.

First visit to this pub, although I have driven past many times before over many years. The food was excellent overall. The main course of roast beef could have been a little hotter when served, but aside from that, it was beautifully presented, clearly prepared from the best produce available, and incredibly tasty. The staff were lovely and helpful. The ale was well-cellared, and the premises were clean. Despite the main course being a little cool when served, the whole experience is worthy of 5 stars. It is nice to see a pub full during these challenging economic times. Keep up the good work!

Lovely food .and pleasant staff we go often

Lovely food, the night we stayed was a pub quiz with a choice of curry or fish and chips we had the fish and chips they were delicious. Will go another night to sample the interesting menue.

First visit to this excellent country pub situated in the small village of East Rudham. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and obliging. The food is excellent as clearly evidenced by an almost full house of lunchtime customers. Probably the best all-round lunchtime dining experience I've had in Norfolk!

Had a very nice lunch here with friends whilst camping. Food was very well presented and tasted great.

The Crown is clearly the place to come and even stay. We enjoyed our lunch so much, we came back the following day. The menu is excellent and imaginative, the portions appropriate and the service superb. Half way between King's Lynn and Fakenham and conveniently situated for Sandringham and the North Norfolk Coast. A find and a keeper.

Lovely lunch, attentive service, and an unusual but very tasty meal, ratatouille Wellington, served with new potatoes and peas with choice of meat or vegan gravy.

We cannot fault this beautiful pub with wonderful staff one bit. We have just stayed here for the weekend and from the moment we set eyes on this gorgeous village pub we felt at ease. It is exceptionally clean, very welcoming, and the staff were polite, welcoming, accommodating, fun and top class. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they even called us trying to remind us we had left one of our belongings. The food is out of this world. Contemporary twist on classic pub food, high end in flavour and design. Service was speedy and the staff went out of their way to make sure our dinner, breakfast and stay was perfect. The rooms are warm, cosy and comfortable, spacious showers and the views over the green are just stunning. Fantastic value for money too. We will 100% be back!

Stayed here earlier in March for my husbands belated big birthday from last year. We spent 2 nights here. Lovely clean and cosy room (which was doggy friendly). We ate here both evenings, again our dogs were with us. Food at dinner, and full English in the mornings were freshly cooked and delicious. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Nothing to fault. Keep up the great work Team Crown. We will be back.

Went to the Crown at lunchtime for first time. Very busy because as we discovered the food here is excellent and it is a very popular pub. Highly recommended but ma ybe best to reserve a table before visiting.

We had the pleasure of visiting for Christmas lunch. There was 13 of us, we was seated in a lovely area of the pub. It was very warm and cosy. We are quite fussy when it comes to good quality food and I can honestly say that it was amazing from start to finish. The effort and level of detail given was really appreciated. There was also no rush to eat and leave, which was really nice. Thank you for such a great time.

Cozy and relaxed pub. Great spaces with the bar, tables and a tea room area. I had the fish and skinny fries that was around £14. The fish was a good size was fresh, the fries could have been cooked a tad more. The dish comes with homemade tartar sauce and mushi peas, both delicious. Had great service from careful waiters. Overall a good pub dinner.

Drove into the carpark on the off chance Lady managed to allocate us a table . Cannot rate this place highly enough . The roast beef was absolutely first class , moist , tender and full of taste . Beautifully cooked roast potatoes and the most wonderful honey carrot & cabbage . Creamy Cauli Cheese 👌🏻 White cheesecake was out of this world, de-constructed ,with pistachio base . The chef has my full admiration , as do the lovely attentive staff who looked after us . Best pub food I’ve ever had , and that’s no lie . Do not miss going here . Loved it M Jermy

Fantastic Food (For a change) Menu is awesome, Service is A+ If you know food, you will love this place. Chef as of November 2021 is superb using all locally sourced ingredients in the food. You won’t be disappointed.

The good was bang average at best and the service was not great either. Two of us had the burger that was really dry including the brioche bun. We told the staff and they pretty much dismissed it and just asked if we wanted more drinks. The chicken escalope was rather bland. The prawn starter was just about OK. Deserts were very good, hence the uplift from 1 star but for the money it should be a lot better.

Cannot rate this highly enough. Great food, great staff! We had a party of 14, they had everything ready for our arrival and were incredibly attentive throughout. All our food, mix of steaks, fish, salads and burgers, was excellently prepared!

Lovely attentive staff and food was excellent. They have gluten free and dairy free options too. The pulled pork and the beefburgers were delicious as were the posset and the chocolate tarte.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at The Crown in July. Room was very nice and the food and staff were lovely. Pointing us in the right directions with their local knowledge. Chatting to Louise who served us breakfast was also a great start to the day. Location was nice and central for us too. Will definitely be back when we’re in the area again. 👍

The interior was gorgeous, but the lunch didn't excite. Very limited & basic fillings in the sandwiches and, sorry, but chips just aren't a sufficient side dish for lunch
