I'd been wanting to try the place for a while since I always saw it full of people, so it must be good right? No. Mediocre service, extremely long waiting times (for 2 avocado toasts & 1 jacket potato) and they got my order wrong twice, I couldn't eat my food in the end because of it (i just asked for a jacket potato with no cheese, there was cheese BOTH times). Despite the order mistake we pointed out they shrugged it off. We where sitting outside near the window into the kitchen and I say a health inspector should be called, appalling stuff going on in there.

We had a wonderful roast dinner with our family of 9. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. We had starters, main and dessert, pork belly was a great choice, everyone loved their mains and the Oreo Cheesecake was definitely a winner for the children. Thank you again for your hospitality and laughter. We will see you again very soon.

We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and I was really impressed with the quality of the food. Three of us had the calves liver and really enjoyed it, we also had desert...one of the lightest treacle sponges I have ever tasted, absolutely delicious. It was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning especially as one of our party had the pie of the day and it looked amazing. I also liked that on some dishes you could have smaller portions.

We regularly visit here for breakfast and it is always packed- very popular with the locals. The food is delicious and chefs are happy to adapt to your tastes e.g. crispy bacon. Lots of choice on the menu.

A Tuesday late November, sunny day trip after reading a brief write up of the place where it is located (Petersfield Village retail centre) in a local paper recently. About 15 miles from home. We came upon it from a cross country drive from Tolleshunt Knights via Stisted, though in fact it is close to a main road. Expected it to be quiet, but there was a group outing of a dozen or more folk around one table and others arriving as we did. Service seemed speedy, good value simple jacket potato meals accompanied by a salad followed by cakes with a lot of tea we two big tea drinkers did not get to the bottom of. I was struck by the carefully marked menu, showing Gluten Free and Plant Based options and will share the details with a gluten free eating close relative who has had frightening experiences in other restaurants where things were not as expected. Interesting surroundings, will return again to explore the wide range of shops on site when we have more time.

So, I read a lovely review and decided to try it out for myself. I'd gone in to Braintree to get some shoes fixed so had my dog with me. Looks lovely. Opening line - "we aren't meant to have dogs here". Sub text get out with your dog. They do know that 'Love me, live my dog' runs true. So you don't my custom. I'll be accommodating. I'll sit outside. Coffee and cake ordered and paid for. Then nothing. I'm not in a rush. But nothing. We'll apart from the little boy on the next table playing with the dog. He's very friendly. Eventually, coffee and cake. Biscoff and banana cake was nice and tasty. Coffee was a standard latte - nice and hot - good job give we had to sit outside. View isn't quite the best and the ambience is zero. If you have a dog and want a friendly welcoming place for a coffee then don't come here. If you don't want people with dogs just put up a sign - we hate dog owners - that will solve it straight away.

I just adore this bakery. The staff are so very friendly, you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The cakes/scones are fabulous, tea is in a little pot with a cozie, such a great touch. The prices are so very reasonable, you cannot beat this bakery/tearoom. I love it.
