We had Sunday lunch today 6 April to celebrate our anniversary. Booked 3 weeks ago online which was confirmed by the Manger Ben. We arrived and our booking was not on the list! The Waitress found us a table and we ordered drinks and perused the menu. We decided on roast chicken and roast beef. The chicken was a very small portion . It was rather dry. The beef was OK but rather tough. Lots of veg . Roast potatoes lovely. Cauliflower cheese nice and hot. Overall it was OK but nothing yo write home about. No check back during meal. Waitresses both very nice and very polite.

We regularly visit here for breakfast and it is always packed- very popular with the locals. The food is delicious and chefs are happy to adapt to your tastes e.g. crispy bacon. Lots of choice on the menu.

So, I read a lovely review and decided to try it out for myself. I'd gone in to Braintree to get some shoes fixed so had my dog with me. Looks lovely. Opening line - "we aren't meant to have dogs here". Sub text get out with your dog. They do know that 'Love me, live my dog' runs true. So you don't my custom. I'll be accommodating. I'll sit outside. Coffee and cake ordered and paid for. Then nothing. I'm not in a rush. But nothing. We'll apart from the little boy on the next table playing with the dog. He's very friendly. Eventually, coffee and cake. Biscoff and banana cake was nice and tasty. Coffee was a standard latte - nice and hot - good job give we had to sit outside. View isn't quite the best and the ambience is zero. If you have a dog and want a friendly welcoming place for a coffee then don't come here. If you don't want people with dogs just put up a sign - we hate dog owners - that will solve it straight away.

I just adore this bakery. The staff are so very friendly, you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The cakes/scones are fabulous, tea is in a little pot with a cozie, such a great touch. The prices are so very reasonable, you cannot beat this bakery/tearoom. I love it.

Stopped by Crofters in Witham for breakfast with my daughter, and we were really impressed. The food was fresh and well-cooked, definitely a cut above your average café breakfast. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Service was efficient without feeling rushed, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. If you’re looking for a good breakfast spot in Witham with great food and friendly service, I’d highly recommend Crofters. We’ll definitely be back!

Came here on a whim after seeing some of there amazing cakes on Facebook. Absolutely beautiful place with a nice cozy indoor seating area and a beautiful outdoor seating area that is still covered so can sit even on a gloomy day (we sat in the outdoor seating area). Had a latte, a tea and 2 full english breakfast for a decent price. All came very quick and hot considering they wasn’t quite. Staff are so friendly and happy to have a chat with you. To top it all off we was greeted by Ted who is there regular friendly robin. Really lovely place. Will definitely be coming back

I'd been wanting to try the place for a while since I always saw it full of people, so it must be good right? No. Mediocre service, extremely long waiting times (for 2 avocado toasts & 1 jacket potato) and they got my order wrong twice, I couldn't eat my food in the end because of it (i just asked for a jacket potato with no cheese, there was cheese BOTH times). Despite the order mistake we pointed out they shrugged it off. We where sitting outside near the window into the kitchen and I say a health inspector should be called, appalling stuff going on in there.

Lovely clean bright welcoming cafe in the antique centre. Only vegetarian food but that was not an issue to us. Both our sandwiches were freshly made, beautifully presented with crisps and salad. My only gripe-one type of GF cake. As usual chocolate based. I get fed up with only having chocolate brownies or tarts. I would even prefer a shop bought scone, hot cross bun, tea cake or some other type of GF cake. M&S do some really good ones which could be bought and frozen ( cut the tea cakes, scones and buns in half prior to freezing) than a commercially prepared bog standard tart. But I can’t fault standard if food, or staff. My tea was served in a bone china cup. Also as a vegetarian cafe I would suggest they look at posher soft drinks like those produced by Fentimans or Kombucha. Oh and a big plus-it’s doggy friendly.

£9.50 for a medium size sandwich with 1 fried egg, a few bits of Halloumi, and a few mushrooms. It was fine. Markup on that item must be incredible. The ploughmans sandwich on the table over looked equally uninspiring. Service was friendly, and the venue is clean and quite nice, but to be honest I'd rather have just stopped here for a coffee and then popped by Greggs for a better sandwich in flavour, size, and price. I appreciate it's difficult to beat the chains on price, but when the quality is lower but 3 times the cost, it's time to reevaluate the menu.
