The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in East of England

Checked my bill Meal in bar Not restaurant.Had to pay Service Charge.I had to order at bar and all they did was bring food to our table .I don't think people realise this,speaking to other people.

Very disappointing. Bought a Rotary watch for my son and it’s broken in under 6 months. Only worn daily and not during sport, John Lewis Chelmsford and Rotary are refusing to fix it despite clearly under warranty. The face spins round annd one side of the clasp is stuck. Neither problems are obviously faults & not caused through daily wear & tear. Appalling service. Buy a watch from elsewhere.

We were a party of 8, two of whom had travelled from Northamptonshire. Unfortunately the service we received today was poor. The chef had not turned up so they were trying to prepare food with someone who was covering in the kitchen. We ordered our food at 12 o'clock and only two meals arrived promptly. These two had finished theirs before the rest of us received ours at 1.20. We were told that we had to vacate the table at 2.30 for the next sitting which ordinarily would have been fine. We would have liked desert but could not chance being finished by 2.30 with the slow pace of service. We settled for coffee which took another half an hour to arrive. I had to remind them that we were still waiting for my grandsons ice cream. At 2.15 we had just finished our coffee when we were being hurried from our table to make way for the 2.30 sitting. The whole experience was unpleasant and disappointing. The staff were doing their best and kept telling us so however, it was not our fault that they were short staffed and quite frankly disorganised.

We have given it three tries, first, food was OK, short staffed, bad service, 2nd similar but food again was ok, tried again last night, 8pm booking, only us and a table of 4, another couple were then seated, table of 4 had finished. We ordered starters and mains, starters arrived, yes ok, having finished those they were cleared, we awaited our mains, we could see 4 main meals on the counter where the two chefs were as only us and the other couple, they had to be ours, after watching for ten minutes and still sitting there under the heat lamps, I spoke with the manager, he went to them but apparently not fully prepared, awaiting chips ? After about a further 10 minutes they were served to us, no cutlery so we had to take from the next table, the food was dry, mixed grill was awful eggs were now rubbery all meat was dry, salad was warm, the other meal was equally as bad, warm salad and small tomatoes, chicken dried out, sauce congealed. Neither edible, so mostly left. No we didn’t have to pay, but how can Two chefs not prepare 2 meals to come out fresh and hot, it’s wasn’t as if it was busy, total joke, maybe time to replace with a new restaurant team. I feel all there have become complacent. To be that empty on a Saturday evening, something is wrong.

I am sad to say this was the absolute worst Sunday roast I have ever been served. Undercooked sausage in bacon with foil still stuck on, everything else wildly over cooked. On that note I believe the cook (certainly not a chef) may have served me the sole of their shoe in place of 'roast beef' Some of the other food looked ok but this was truly inedible. We were going to stick around for cake but after the roast we felt ill and left. Staff were busy fending off other complaining customers. Photo was after I had "finished eating" 10/10 would not recommend.

Friendly atmosphere and prompt service. We ordered the cream tea and it was decidedly underwhelming. The scones were a bit dry and the portion of cream and jam was tiny - definitely not sufficient for 2 scones.

Not a pub, not a restaurant, but quite pleasant. Not a good range of beers but quite an interesting menu.

Changed review as the owner corrected the problem and service that we received.

Great pub. Service is professional, prompt and friendly. Always a great place to watch the football. Also easily the best pint of Guinness you'll find in the city. 10/10.

No cups or cutlery as dishwasher wasn't working.We didn't drink all our coffee as it didn't taste very good.Floor needed sweeping and tables were messy.Didn,'t seem like they had enough staff. Very much below the standard I would expect from Costa.

Called in on a Sunday lunch time having not booked and was shown to a table by Catherine who proceeded to give us time to look at the menu and supplied us with chilled water. Catherine was very attentive without being pushy, very professional and extremely polite. Would we go again ? Absolutely without question. 5*

We've stayed at the Bell many times & are just back from another fantastic stay! We stayed for 3 nights this time & as always the staff were all excellent & really helpful. Food & Drink are great & we will be back in August! Very relaxing atmosphere & we highly recommend the Bell! Thanks very much once again! Andy & Jayne.

Superb service, accommodation and location. A great welcome and check in. Room 2 has triple aspect windows which is nice. Their own beer is very good indeed. Cosy bar area, but huge and covered outdoor area. The main course food looked great and good value. Breakfast was superb. Will be back.
