Football away fans prepare to be ripped off. £7.20 for a pint of Guinness whereas I have since checked their online menu which states £4.94. Much better going for a drink in the town where they seem to appreciate your custom.

One of the best football fans pubs I've ever been in (and I've been to a lot) Away fans only. It helped that the weather was great before the Ipswich v Liverpool game so the 1000 + Reds were able to comfortably assemble in the massive beer garden. Bouncers were friendly but professional. Best thing was service at the bar which was obviously well practised and absolutely perfect. Mobile toilets (only for men) were really convenient. Basically a great place to go before, and after, a Ipswich away game.

Spent many a happy half hour here whilst changing trains at Ipswich Station, sadly tonight there was no chance of getting served before the connection departed; just one gent behind the bar doing his best, but that was it. We were hoping to arrange social networking at the bar of the hotel. The organisers of the group booked a table to try out the service and food so we could be sure as to what to recommend. Frankly, if it wasn't so perfectly placed in terms of location we would seriously consider elsewhere in terms of food and service! It should not take 15 minutes to make a cappuccino. Falafels should not be dry and served without sauce. Chips should not be half cooked. Orders should not be missed off the list. And the attitude of the staff should be apologetic as opposed to passing the buck. If you can go elsewhere, do! Or you are not fussy about what you eat then you will be fine. As for us? The drinks were fine so we will go ahead, but no way can we recommend the food, especially when they knew we were coming in to vet the place!

Just to add as I’ve seen a response… I’m not sure what you’re talking about… I never asked to use your toilet? I believe I know the incident you’re talking about and that wasn’t me. Absolutely terrible customer service at this place (the restaurant). I would not recommend to anyone. The cashier/attitude was so disgusting. She had no respect for customers especially black customers. She pitches our cutlery on the table and had a stink attitude when asked for our order to go with. I’m honestly very disgusted. Don’t go! *RESPONDING TO YOUR COMMENT* I expected no accountability and that's fine! Saying that there was no attitude by her is absurd.. and a big fat lie... I was disgusted to the point where I threw the cake that I took to go... But to each his own.. I won't be back and my friends too. EW...

What an awful experience. Firstly, there’s no real ale, then there’s no bottles of real ale. Then they don’t have Bombay sapphire. So a soft drink it is. The lager Madri, pretty sure it’s Carling because it tastes horrendous! Then we go into a plastic glass, the reason an FA Youth Cup tie. Right, but there are people at the bar drinking out of glasses. ‘I work here’ they say. Well that means it’s not a council or police reason for the plastic so all customers should get glass. All that for a J2O and a Carling for a generous price of £8.20. Hard avoid! For anyone visiting Ipswich. The waterfront is much better.

Before booking a stay at the Station hotel I had read much of the feedback on trip advisor warning others not to stay! Therefore I new some of what to expect and was not under any false illusion that it might not differ much from their point of view and experience. Our stay was brief, we stayed for one night. The free carpark was easy to locate and had ample space to park . On entering the hotel from the carpark the hallway and stairs were in need of repair and decoration. The bar and dining area was light pleasant and welcoming and has benefitted from a tasteful refurbishment. I found the staff members behind the bar to be both friendly and helpful, it was an easy, quick and straight forward check in. My vehicle registration was entered into there system to cover the cost of parking for the duration of our stay. They kindly provided our room key prior to the check in time of 15.00, so we could take up our bags before heading straight out. They further provided a key code for the back door so that we could gain access back into the accommodation after hours. The hotel was in a convenient location for us to walk to the town centre and to the harbour. We left in the morning between 9.30/10.00 did not enquire about breakfast (although it does state it is free when we booked) as my partner and I wanted to head back early. I conclude that It is not a place you would want to stay, if you were planning to spend much time in the room to relax. The main focus and investment at this premises is the pub, serving drinks and food and not the accommodation. It is a shame because it is in such a great location and has the potential to make money from its accommodation if they invested in the repair and decoration and could perhaps be a rival for other larger hotels that are overpriced!.

Zero out of five Horrendous place to stay. Can’t comment on the bar or restaurant but the room we had No. 8 was terrible, can only imagine all the rooms were the same. Broken furniture, big damp patch on the ceiling, dirty black fingerprints on the loft hatch, light fitting held together with sellotape, badly creaking floorboards, and a window that didn’t shut properly or lock was just the start of it. Bathroom ceiling was hanging down above the bath, wires hanging out of the wall where a light had been removed, black mould around bath and basin, cigarette burns in the Lino and no mirror. The room has a wardrobe with ONE coat hanger the drawers had either missing or broken handles so they couldn’t be opened. The carpet was dirty and stained, the kettle was held together with a cable tie and there wasn’t even a spoon to stir a coffee. But the best bit was what looked like dried blood on the was and the base of the bed. Cheap but definitely not cheerful AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This pub stands directly opposite Ipswich train station. The outside is well maintained as is the bar area, which is spacious and has plenty of seating. This place has a pleasant, warm atmosphere and, amazingly, they don't have annoying background music drowning out your conversation. The staff were friendly. Met my very hungry friend at the station and this is certainly the nearest place for a proper lunch. A few things were unavailable from the menu, so ended up with some haloumi fries (a bit bland and missing a dip i think) and a beef fagita. Ok and not too expensive. Can't say much about the food here but after a very long 2 days of travelling back from the far-east I arrived in Ipswich train station. My phone was unfortunately stolen during my trip back and I ended up being stranded in Ipswich without being able to contact my family to come and pick me up. I went to the bar of the hotel, ordered and payed for a tea and explained to a woman with dark black hair that I had my phone stolen and was stranded in Ipswich but was still refused to make a call using their hotel phone. Horrible service.

If you have time to wait for a train connection, this old pub / hotel is right opposite the station doors and even has a live departures / arrivals board above the bar. Why wait in a draughty and somewhat dismal station ? But it really does have a "spit and sawdust" feel to it, a rather dingy set-up. But it is what it is - an old railway hotel. They serve beer and wine ! Nowhere else realistically in the slightly remote area around the station, so beggars can't be choosers !

First hotel room, utter disgrace and disgusting!!! Plug socket hanging off wall. Dirty windows, rickety table. Ceiling in bathroom hanging down, massive crack in ceiling in bedroom. Mirror on floor. When you turned tap on in bathroom massive smell of sewers came through and lingered. But the ultimate disgusting thing was when I pulled backed the sheets, there was a toenail and pubic hair there. I refused to sleep in there and after complaining was offered another room, which was a lot better but floorboards very creaky. The stairs are dangerous as when you turn the corner there’s no rail. The only thing we loved about staying here was the outstanding breakfast we had in the morning. 10/10 for service and breakfast.

I often stop in here when travelling via Ipswich, the staff are friendly and the pub is open and spacious. I have eaten here on several occasion and have no complaints about the food.As some people have mentioned this pub is often very crowded or shut to the public on football days. I tend to check if Ipswich are playing at home before I make arrangements to visit. I'm not going to mark it down for this - I don't see it as a major issue. Just check first.

It's ideal for that really being so close to the station and 5 mins walk to the ground. If it's sunny then nice to be next to the River, luckily the two times I have been it has been. I've had a few Sunday lunches here. Every time the pricing is different, sometimes it includes a drink, sometimes a drink is included in the deal for £1 and sometimes no drink. The Sunday lunch is generally okay but last visit I waited almost an hour, the pub was not busy at all, and when the roast arrived most of the veg were cold.No point sending it back just to be blasted in the microwave so I asked for my money back to go elsewhere to eat. Was refunded less than I had paid for the meal, although when I questioned this it was rectified without dispute. It could be good if the issues with bad and slow service were sorted out but i'm not sure they will be. I've given it the benefit of the doubt over a few visits but I don't think I will be returning to eat any time soon.
