The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in East of England

Hi.i waited for my daughter at The Old Spring. The bar lady was so kind. My daughter was late arriving for lunch so I said we can just have nibbles. The Chef said no! I’m cooking The most gorgeous Greek wraps with Chicken and Greek cheese was the most amazing food my daughter and I have ever tasted.Living in Greece summer after summer we had forgotten how Greek food is I irreplaceable Only Thursdays nd m’ Fridays Greek option if you wish . Decent pub grub. Nice atmosphere. Lovely staff. Didn’t have to wait long for food. Good value. Would visit again if local.

We met some old friends for a drink and food at the Kings Arms in Crouch street. The pub itself is very pleasant and the staff were very pleasant as well. We decided to order food. I ordered the Scampi at £15 and the ladies each ordered the grilled cheese which was £10.at that price I was expecting a really exceptional Grilled Cheeses with artisan bread and great cheese and a nice side salad. Describes as “ A medley of mature cheddar cheese and emmentsl with bechemel sauce in a toasted farmhouse loaf”….What they actually received was beyond appalling, 2 slices of processed white bread with a slice of plastic processed cheese no obvious sauce and a small bland salad.. I’ve had similar cheap toasties before , typically paying £2.50-£3 but to charge £30 for these sandwiches is nothing short of criminal. The scampi came with 13 chips and 7 normal pieces of scampi and 3 tiny pieces that were 90% breadcrumbs. Compared to other local pubs such as the Princess Charlotte this was similar to the “light version”. I would never recommend eating at this pub although as a drinking hole it’s very pleasant .

Not the best of experience, though I received a nice welcome service was poor. The cappuccino was very weak more like a latte.

Edit. Returned from our walk 2 hrs later and went from 1* to 5*. Great service on the return. Waited for a good five minutes at the bar, no one there to serve. Rang the little bell on the counter to no avail. Walked out again

WE HAD BOTH OUR BIRTHDAY MEALS HERE ONE ON 31TH MARCH AND 11TH APRIL. IT WAS A VERY MEAL. EVERY THE DOG LOVED HERE CHICKEN. THE STAFF WAS GREAT

We attended as a large party for a birthday meal. First impressions were not great, the decor is just poor. Rawlplugs sticking out of bare plaster all over the walls, touch wall and it crumbles away, tables were sticky. Toilets weren't much better, metal cubicles which look rusty. i'm not sure if this is "designer" or "meant to be" but it honesty looks like nothings been done since the fire years ago. It looks like its been cleaned and furniture put back in! We ordered a salad and pizza and then asked for cheesy chips. Was told that they don't "do" cheesy chips. we would need to order the "Bacon LoaDed Curly FrieS, SOur CreAm, pickLed chillis & jaLapeños." Said ok great, take everything off but cheese and chips. Again told that wasn't something they could do.... Argued and said we would eat elsewhere and was then informed they would do this for us! Pizza arrived and was very greasy, looked like it had been topped off with grease. Chips arrived and were ok, not great but the cheese was parmesan, rather than cheddar so lots of weird lumps all overit. Salad arrived, one piece of chicken, two bits of butter nut squash and the rest leaves. you have to collect your own meal from the kitchen. The service was shocking, no consideration for allergies or eating disorders. The decoration is shocking, looks awful, unfinished and quite dirty. Staff not very helpful. Food greasy, lacking in any form of flavour and no consideration for allergies! All in, wouldn't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend.

This coffee shop has improved so much lately (we think there is a new manager - April 2025). The place is immaculate: the floor is swept regularly and frequently, tables are wiped and washed after almost every customer and the toilets are spotless. Staff members are friendly and very polite.

Just like any,you know what to expect

Sadly yesterday, the service was terrible. I waited for a long time being served. With me my 5 year old pupil. It wasn't busy, so that was not the reason. The reason was that the two employees were too occupied with chatting with each other and customers. I did mention this to one of them and his ( I think he was male, apologies if not) reply was that he was very busy with orders, which was absolutely not true! I overheard his conversations! I wasn't the only customer being irritated. I've been to this cafe more often and the service has always been 5* but not yesterday. I don't mind waiting when it's very busy but it was quiet! My pupil, very understandably, became restless. To make things worse, when we finally had our drinks, to then go upstairs, the employee knocked my pupil with a sort of washing bowl against his head. I'm sure the employee didn't do this on purpose but to be honest , he ( I think he was a man, apologies if not) wasn't really looking. Yes, I will return to this cafe but no, if I see that these employees are working that day.

Cheapest beer in the city. Veteran friendly, no food.
