Henry IV in North Norfolk

Meal for a family members birthday, group of around 20 people, we pre ordered the food so when we arrived our waiting time was minimal. New menu has a lot of verity, and the food was delicious!

We had a very nice meal. The lady that served us was really friendly and helpful. The food was quick, hot and tasty. We had the Thursday buy one get one free burger deal and it was excellent value. EDIT: we went back again for another visit, very disappointed to find that the menu had changed and the vegan beyond burger has been replaced with a chickpea and spinach falafel burger. So unfortunately we left without eating 😔.

Nice atmosphere and pleasant service.

Felt really sorry for the staff. Looked like 3 people trying to do bar and waiting on customers. They were running around trying to serve everyone. The food was bad, had fish and chips. The fish was so overcooked and dried up, handful of peas, and ran out of tartar sauce

Quick, friendly service. Was served by Helena on this occasion. Meal came out promptly for a table of 6. New dessert on the menu, goey chocolate belgian waffles are incredible!

A last minute visit whilst on our holidays doing a bit of shopping in town. We saw the pub on the way home. Nice food, quick service and very efficient friendly staff. We were a party of 5. We had a kiddies meal and 4 meals off the 2 for £13.49 menu and drinks of course. The pie was delicious and highly recommended it was huge. Fish and chips were lovely, the mac n cheese was great and scampi was a fab pub classic. All the food was cooked to perfection and hot when it came out. Our daughter said it was the best pie she's ever had and she has had a lot of pies. We shall return whilst on our holidays as its easy to find and a nice atmosphere.

The problem with the Henry is the food is very inconsistent, sometimes it's okay, sometimes it's not very good at all. The front of house staff are generally very friendly and helpful and deserve to be serving much better food. Sort out the consistency of the food and I would go there more often.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff deserve a raise! The hospitality was just so welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Would 10/10 recommend!

Family evening out, party of 12,food was really good, drinks were flowing, cocktails were excellent. Bar staff made us feel welcome and very helpful. Will always return ☺️

Went in on a Friday evening with the wife & expected a long wait, as it was absolutely rammed. We got our meals within half an hour!..... Absolutely fantastic service, wonderful staff & great atmosphere. Highly Recommended & will definitely be returning 👌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have a mushroom alergy and john helena were absolutely amazing and offered me an alternative to chips.. The atmosphere us lovly.. The place was very clean and tidy.. Thank you..

Wow! Mario Kart night 🏎️. What can I say. It's soooo much fun and well run. Compliments to the organiser, Karon she does a brilliant job, the last Thursday of every month. I had the Tikka Tandoori it was great. Staff are so friendly too. Prices are so reasonable too.

We have recently moved into the Norfolk area and on a visit to Fakenham we come across Henry IV. We have eaten in there a few times and the food is very good value for money service and staff very helpful. Food comes out piping hot and well presented. The sticky toffee cheesecake is to die for.

Had a meal here last week with a party of 4. We had different meals two of us had steak which was terrible. We did complain but it fell on deaf ears.

A lunch and drinks date catch up with friends what can I say friendly staff lovely and warm lunch brought all together cooked perfectly and hot. desserts delicious we were there nearly 3 hours but no pressure from staff such a nice relaxed atmosphere we will definitely be visiting again Thank you John and the team

Parking easy. Were shown to were shown to our seats within seconds of arrival. Great ambiance. Excellent customer service.

Excellent service and quality and price range.

If I had wanted to have a meal with screaming kids running past my table I would have booked a table in a kindergarten. The parents of the little brats just ignored the 5 horrors playing and screaming in the restaurant area. The staff, were equally oblivious, or could just not be bothered. The food was OK,for a Hungry Horse, but they seriously have to do something about marauding children when people are trying to eat. Ruined a pleasant afternoon.

Come here irregularly but every time we've had good food and good service. Can't fault the staff and the food has always been nice. Don't expect haute cuisine but it's good honest for at a very fair price. In fact in the meal deal 2 4 1 its cheaper to have burger & chips here than mcdonalds meal & def better. Good work fakenham

Food only 1 star as we didn't eat. Chose twice and due to lack of stock replenish in between Xmas and New Year. So bear circumstances in mind to the rating given.

We went for Christmas dinner today, Christmas Eve and we were extremely disappointed to say the least. The food was awful, nothing more than a pre cooked, pre packed ready meal out of a cardboard box, microwaved. We were really looking forward to it but in essence couldn't wait to leave and never return. Having said that, we were welcomed on arrival by a male member of staff who was brilliant, and the table was set very festively. The staff on duty were in festive spirit, amazingly friendly, courteous efficient and sorry about our experience, the male member of staff and a female member offering a free drink or dessert on our return. Unfortunately due to our experience that will never happen. All we can say as a positive regarding the food is that our dog will enjoy the Turkey and sausage tonight.

4 of us had lunch and food was pretty good, although the gammon was quite tough. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the burgers quite good but the chicken one a little dry. Chips and fries were both great. Problem was that there was a long wait for service at the bar, I would think due to a lack of staff. The food arrived fairly quickly and the waiting staff were very friendly.

Celebrating Christmas with the community no one alone meal, such a fantastic idea which brought us all together. We enjoyed a wonderful meal in a warm and friendly setting and made new friends at a time when celebrating can be difficult. Looking forward to coming back! Thank you

Not enough staff for a Saturday night, so took quite a while to get served. Then had to remind them to get the coffee on the order. Food was ok-ish, but lots is deep fried. One of our starters was meant to be boneless chicken wings and they brought bone-in wings. My main was supposed to have chicken tikka thighs, but it was sliced chicken tikka and the other elements were supposed to be tikka-spiced but weren't. Overall a tired looking pub that needs more staff on peak nights. Worth noting the staff who were there were polite, but overrun.

We've travel over 2 hours to go to Thursford, booked a table here . Everything was excellent. Food was delicious, staff very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend

We have been here on several occasions and I have to say the food is excellent,I cannot fault,it's great value and great service.I have to just say I had a burger tonight and was the best I have ever had and I am somewhat of a conaseur of burgers,my wife and son.both had chicken mix dishes and said it was lovely.we all had garlic mushrooms as they are phenomenal. We are now regulars as we enjoy every visit.The staff are really nice and pleasant and polite.Really A1 review from my family and I.

Food arrived 45 mins late, It wasn’t very warm in there, I ordered fish which wasn’t very appetising and hardly any chips, there was a lot of people there plus a wake on, which we thought we should of been made aware of when booking, also only 2 staff on.

We enjoyed our evernig but the place was very cold

Decent mixed grill and all other meals tasty. Would recommend for a a good value meal.

Friendly staff, good selection of beers, great food and a great atmosphere, willing to show any televised sports such as : football, cricket, F1, rugby, golf, tennis etc. All you have to do is ask if it's not already on.

Update: We had a table booked at the Running Horse, but they failed to tell us they were closed due to a burst water main. We headed around to Henry IV and despite being busy they fit us in straight away and there was no long wait for food. The roast was delicious and the gravy perfect! Thank you! Popped in spontaneously on a Monday evening for an impromptu date night with my husband. It was quiet but we like it like that sometimes. Both had steak and desserts - the choc sundae is a beast! Olivia and Jas were friendly, kind, curtious and helpful, and most importantly looked genuinely happy in their jobs! It makes all the difference! Thanks for a lovely evening. Now to rest our full stomachs!

Went to Game night: boogie woogie bingo and play your cards right. Fantastic evening out with friends and family with lots of amazing opportunities to win! Won a tray of shots !! Fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommend Food at The Henry is always 10/10 !!!

Great place, great food, staff are brilliant, great atmosphere

Great place to go for good, filling food and a great relaxed atmosphere. Portion sizes are big, food is tasty and cooked to order. Varied food and drinks menu. Always feel welcome here. The staff are brilliant and always willing to help. Sport is shown on the TVs,but it's not obnoxiously loud. Booths are available with TVs which is great if you have small children! Cater for solo diners/drinkers to groups.

Good local pub with wide ranging typical pub grub, enjoyed whilst watching football. Quite busy on the Sunday evening. Tikka chicken was tasty.

Food wasn't that good in fact quite tasteless, it was reheated by the microwave, and the beef had black bits around the edges very overdone, we had pigs in blanketswhich were anemic looking!! We definitely wouldn't go there again.

We visited on Sunday originally booking for 6 people then called up to amend to 15 people including 3 children the night before . The staff were amazing and managed to fit us all in even on such short notice . The food was incredible with starters , mains and desserts . Everyone left very happy , the staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them . Thankyou again

Ate in small courtyard garden at the rear of the pub where there was a nice covered gazebo as well as occasional tables and seating in the open. Chose from an extensive menu, which covered most tastes. The food was tasty and very good value and was served promptly. Good experience overall.

Incredibly wide choice of food menu including vegan options (even vegan onion rings!!!), the hostess was incredibly kind, polite, and attentive. A wide selection of beers on tap and soft drinks. Friendly bar service also.

The food was great?good value for money. We ordered flat breads with lamb koffte, but unfortunately, there are a few flies flying around at one point. I thought it was a sponsor a pet week one landed in my friends food and died in the sauce a lovely lady swapped the food stright away but couldn't give us one that we had originally ordered they were none left so had to have second choice but the time it came back 20 mins cheesey chips were stone cold and inedible were we told the waiter he said yeah I know abut the flies sorry about that .But mine was nice but my friend was completely put off food when you do go in bring your own fly swat.

Had a great meal- had short rib of beef ( from Gluten free menu) Top Tip !!! Try it! Helena served us and she knows her stuff- my son had a few popcorn chicken missing and Helena sorted it straight away. Cheers!

Myself and my Husband visited today for the first time, it was for my birthday lunch. The food was delicious! The portion sizes were great and the prices were excellent especially with their meal offers, friendly staff and atmosphere and very clean, we will be visiting again! Well worth the 45 minute drive.

We visited the HenryIV yesterday for the first time. Initial impressions were fine as it has a reasonable size car park and the greeting by the barmaid with green hair was polite and friendly, even bringing our drinks to our table plus there were a dozen or so people in there even though they had only been open 45 minutes or so. Unfortunately it went down hill from there. I chose the meat pie, my wife the lasagna. Where do we start. The mash with the pie was a load of stodge, more easily cut with a knife than trusting a fork. The peas were hard and what little meat there was in the pie was of poor quality and fatty. To be fair the jug of gravy was fine and plentiful. As for the lasagna it was dry with a burnt topping. The advertised side salad consisted solely of limp lettuce leaves that were clearly past their sell by date. No tomato, cucumber or onion although when we left we did notice a solitary slice of cucumber on the floor a few feet from our table that I assume the male server had dropped from the plate whilst bringing it to our table. Both the ladies and gents toilets provide an experience with shoes sticking to the floor! Our expectations weren't high based on the pricing but we did expect the food to be edible and the property clean. Other pub chains can produce edible food at reasonable prices so why can't Greene King. We both agreed that it was one of the worst pub meal experiences we had had and needless to say we won't be returning as there are far better alternatives.

This pub is just fabulous. Proper pub food and skillets of sizzling char grilled food. The burgers are amazing too and all reasonably priced. It’s our fail safe go to stop on a Saturday because you know it’s going to be great.

Great value for money, the food is very good at a very reasonable price. It has really turned around for the better since our last visit a long while ago and would happily go back.

Little date night so tried somewhere different and it was absolutely amazing! Brilliant food, brilliant drink variety and great service. Will be coming here more often.

This is the most underrated place for great, cheap food. Although I'm not a big football fan, I can put up with the cheers and the boos for some food.

Popped in after a visit to Langham Glass , I had the mix grill which is a 4oz rump steak, gammon, chicken fillet and pork sausage with a free range fried egg and onion rings. Served with grilled tomato, chips and peas , cost £13.49 , I can honestly say its one of the best mixed grills I've had , a little over priced compared to some I've had , but I would gladly have it again 👍👍👍
