Horrible! The food was bland soggy roast potato’s thin stringy beef, boiled chicken and a burnt Yorkshire pudding all freezing cold. So over priced for what you got it’s better going to a Toby carvery. We waited ages for drinks and our food took an hour to come they also gave us the food for the table next to us before they brought ours out

We went today and had lunch. It’s a beautiful location, overlooking the canal. The ladies in the cafe are really friendly and the food was great and the service was quick. We will definitely be back soon!

We visited as a family party of 8 today, sitting in the snug for drinks and a Sunday carvery. The team were welcoming and did everything they could to make our experience enjoyable. There was nothing to fault. The pub had a warm and cosy feel with beams, open fires/log burners. The food was great value for money, with ample portion sizes and good quality meat and veg. There was also a great selection of drinks at the bar too. Will definitely visit again.

We recently visited the Midway Inn and had a truly fantastic experience. The food was delicious, especially the homemade chips that were out of this world. The landlord was exceptionally friendly and helpful, ensuring we felt right at home. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a lovely place to dine. We highly recommend this charming pub for anyone looking for a delightful meal in a welcoming environment!

Sadly now permanently closed for good. Great for walkers and locals, a real hub of the village. Fantastic food, great place. The villagr will be all the poorer for losing this unique eatery.😪😪🥺

Please note that this cafe is no longer called Mad Hatters and is now the Waterside Cafe. The staff are friendlier and the food is lovely, they open at consistent times (handy as the toilets are only open when the cafe is). There was a lot of fuss when Mad Hatters lease was not renewed and the catering taken on by Derby City Council but it has in my opinion improved.
