Turned up and instantly felt welcome and part of the community. But was slightly concerned when the normally sized Landlord told me he was a dwarf (haha)!

1st class if you want a straight forward "beer drinkers" pub. Nothing fancy, no food. No fancy bells and whistles. But the people are friendly and you can join in as we put the world to rights if you want. No obligation. Muddy boots and dogs accepted. Just as well coz I I've got both. I enjoy it. You could too. 🍻

Great pub in the village of Willington. It's what I call "a proper drinker's pub", as it has a good selection of cask ales including a cask ale night once a week where guest ales are bit cheaper than usual. I always go for the Pedigree...best pint of Pedi in the area! The landlord is a real character, so get ready for a friendly welcome! Dogs and muddy boots are welcome, which is great as the pub is very close to the canal paths, so lots of boaters frequent the place. In the summertime, it's nice to site outside with a cold pint and watch the bustle of the village with friends. Oh, and pop down on a Thursday night for open mic night! Always fun.

The pub is lovely and the location is beautiful right near the canal the locals are welcome but I can’t say the same for the landlord he’s rude and was that intoxicated he was wobbling around and stunk to high heaven of alcohol and being just plain nasty I asked for a drink that every other marstons pubs sell I was met with we don’t sell that crap and he went on a rant about me going to another pub because we only sell beer I have never been spoken to it that manor the man’s customer service is terrible and a disgrace to marston’s I would be very worried to take a family in there because I would never want a child to witness the monstrosity of that awful man he actually looked like a homeless alcoholic that walks around town ranting to himself I actually thought I was in the twilight zone I would advise to boycott the place and no wonder he only had three customers on a Friday night

Fantastic night, decent ales well kept and served. Atmosphere was wonderful and perfect for a Christmas night out.

Highly recommend this pub if your out for a few drinks with friends or your partner, first time being in hear, met the fat landlord , who was very friendly, how the hell does he reach the optics???

I didn’t believe the stories after moving to the village of a local pub ran and operated by a dwarf . After entering the establishment I was immediately transported back to the fellow ship of the ring when after meeting the landlord . But joking apart this pub being run by a vertically challenged man or dwarf to his friends is as good as it gets in life and I would recommend you visit .

The welcome exceeded all others in the village and the way we are accepted dwarfed expectations. Good Guinness too.

Just moved to the area and was checking out the local pubs and eateries. Was made to feel most welcome at the rising sun ...the landlord and staff were great ...the locals made us feel at home straight away. The community vibe was great everyone...

Oh my goodness. What can I say about this amazingly welcoming pub? Neil and Amy are the consumat hosts who will go above and beyond to assist any newcomers. Such the best hosts EVER! We will definitely be back for more x Ps that short arse behind the bar ain't too bad either

My wife and i, visted here for the first time on Sunday and we were imediately welcomed by James, a regular bar fly, who was a great chat. We then were served by Amy and just like James, she was very welcoming and friendly. Our third encounter was, what i can only describe as a below average height Dwarf, known as Shackles. He was very friendly, though he would be better off next time we visit, to wear a bag over his head, if not to just stop our beer turning bad. If he does'nt have a suitable bag, then i recommend he grows his ridiculous beard, so it covers the rest of his face. Just to cap...we had a brilliant time and its our pleasure, to recommend this pub, for good decent and real people.

Well where do I start….. this pub is hidden in between two others but it packs a punch a boisterous although “small” landlord who cracks jokes with everyone regularly but always seems to come off worse 😂 Great with kids and always knows how to read a room. If there was anything I’d change it would be something for him to stand on whilst pulling pints so he can easily be seen. Great little guy 👍

Atmosphere is great, landlord is very welcoming, but also talks to you and makes you feel at home. Very homely pub, very friendly, would recommend this quaint family pub. Neil the landlord is a great guy. Unfortunately we didn't try the food as we only nipped it for one on the way home.
