Used to eat here many years ago. So first time back to eat a few days ago. Was impressed. Had lovely Sunday lunch. Quality of food really good. Thank you for putting a lovely nut roast on menu, as not all places do this. A tiny bit more veg would be good. Service very good. Welcoming staff. Lovely atmosphere. Good drinks menu. Well done to the team. Already recommended it to others. We'll be back. Will be bringing my friends. Thank you.

So came here in April 25 for a casual dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday. 4 year old daughter was in tow. The spring menu was Italian themed. I have to say that this is a proper gastro pub. The food is excellent. Really high quality and very very tasty. Portion size is good so you won’t leave hungry. Expresso martinis are delicious as was the wine. As it was my wife’s birthday they brought out a brownie and a candle and some ice cream for my daughter just so she wouldn’t feel left out. Luckily this is in vicinity and is out go to place when we want some decent food and a nice night out. We’ll be back.

We had a lovely meal at The Swan yesterday for Mother's Day. The service was warm and welcoming as always and the food was delicious - roast dinners and desserts all spot on. It was the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day. Thank you everyone at The Swan!

Our first visit and it didn’t disappoint what so ever 😁 amazing service, outstanding food, what’s not to like? We booked this evening as an early Mother’s Day meal and it was faultless. We definitely will be booking again. Thank you 😍

Our first vist to the Swan after hearing good reports, so been look forward to going for a while... Well have to say it was quite disappointing. . Started well being seated and a nice atmosphere.. Drinks order was taken and was a little slow coming out but not a bigy Menu's were given to us.. and no explanation of what catch of the day was or Roast of the day i had to ask when they came to take our order.. I picked Roast Lamb, my wife had Roast Beef as did our Friends. When the meals were brought out, all the Roasts were on one Big Platter with Yorkshire pudding.. Presentation was Good but there was No explanation of which was which when it was laid in front of us.. It wasn't particularly Obvious..! Also they were really quite small portions ..Id expect a little better for £21.5. for the lamb and £20 ish for the beef.. I'm not particularly a big eater.. So again disappointing.. The Vegetables and Mash were brought out on sharing dishes.. again really small portions mash especially only one small table spoon each.. Unfortunately i couldn't bring this to the attention of anyone as no body came back to check if our meals were OK.. Also it wasn't till our plates got taken away i also noticed that other people were also getting Roast Parsnips coming out on the Meat plater.. again disappointing that there was no continuity of the meals being sent out.. Now all being said the meal its self was of a good standard and tasty. I think if there had been a bit more attention to detail and follow up from the staff the experience would have been better.. I should also should say that the Staff were polite at all times..

We visited for our daughter's 18th birthday, as she had requested a family Sunday lunch. We couldn't have chosen a better place. Fantastic service from the point of booking, ensuring both dietary needs and also a table suitable for our dogs to join us in a quiet spot in the bar. There was even a birthday card on the table for her when we arrived! The meal itself was absolutely superb, with a wide range of vegetables and perfectly cooked roast beef. We can highly recommend the ice-cream if you need a lighter pudding after such a great main course (although the Tiramisu cheesecake is also excellent!). Ollie and his team truly looked after us and made it a lovely birthday meal. Thank you!

We had our 1st visit to The Swan on Sunday 23rd February ~ and it won't be our last. I am a complete technophobe and was worried I'd mess things up so after a quick email Oliver soon rang me back and sorted me out with a booking! When we arrived we we're greeted by Oliver and taken to a lovely table, the menu was mouthwatering making it difficult to choose~ but we did and was not disappointed with our choice. Everything was just perfect~ the presentation, the portion size, the taste was wonderful and as for the crackling I've not had anything better, plus for me there was enough gravy to satisfy my gravy obsession! After demolishing what was perfection I managed to force a Tiramisu cheesecake for dessert plus a coffee, and at no time did we feel rushed. I have no doubt we will be back before too much longer and have already told my family. I can thoroughly recommend the Sunday Lunch ~I will obviously have to visit other times now to compare the experience. Thank you to all the hardworking staff at The Swan for making it such a wonderful visit

Good food is a good atmosphere, and the service is second to none

I was greeted and given a spot for my campervan next to the pub garden to park up; very level and quiet. I had a very friendly welcome and the meal was delicious - seafood linguine with a very rich, creamy sauce. A TV had been installed for the Rugby 6 Nations tournament, and I was told it only comes out for certain sporting events, so I suggest checking if you want to watch something specific.

Having only ever enjoyed a Sunday lunch here, we visited mid week to try their evening menu. We didn’t know until arrival but they had just launched a fully Italian based menu to mix things up a bit. We’ve enjoyed some excellent Italian food over the years both in the UK and Italy so our expectations were set quite high. We enjoyed an antipasta meat platter to share to start. Not a lot of cheffing required here and appreciate anyone can construct a cold meat platter BUT the components were of the highest quality, origin and therefore flavour. Olives, various Italian cured meats, sun dried tomatoes, exceptional balsamic & oils, capers, pickled cucumbers and rocket - a delicious feast on its own and a sizeable platter giving excellent value / So much so we stopped eating to ensure we enjoyed our main courses and took the left overs away at the end of the meal. For main course we had Spicy sausage paccheri & Mushroom Alfredo trofie - both Rich and deep in flavour. This was accompanied by some garlic & herb three cheese bread - simply could not stop eating ! Their wine selection was great too. Seeing a Chianti on the list we thought we’d go fully Italian. I’ve often found Chianti to be overly dry but this was a real surprise - fruity & rounded - a delicious accompaniment. (Uggiano chianti Roccialta) Overall a wonderful meal that would grace the most exclusive Venetian restaurant terrace ! Congrats to the management, chef and waiting on team - all superb.

Great village pub, good craft ales and food.

Excellent first visit. The Sunday lunch was the best I had eaten in a long time. The cheese board was very enjoyable and the selection of wines and beers was very good. For a cosy country pub this will be hard to beat

Pie & mash Monday special, open fire, great service and a good pint!! What more could you ask for. One thing I noticed throughout the pub was the cleanliness, not a sticky table or lipstick covered glass here, the place sparkles, well done!!

First time at the Swan and it will definitely not be the last. Different menu to the usual Gastro Pub offerings and it did n’r disappoint. Service , from arrival on, was friendly and efficient without being rushed or pressured. The bacon chop was excellent, tasty, beautifully cooked and presented, while the “ants in trees” was beautiful, gently spicy and a very generous helping. Pudding was an excellent deconstructed white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and the whole meal was washed down with a great bottle of French Malbec. All in all a great experience which we will be repeating very soon! Big thank you to the Chef and staff for their care!

Only popped in for drinks (and a couple of bags of crisps!) but stayed longer than planned as there was live music just starting. Very nicely decorated and well maintained, special mention for the toilets which were exceptionally nice, new and immaculately clean (always a relief to have nice toilets available when you have kids with you). Really good, cosy atmosphere. Will definitely return and looking forward to trying the restaurant too.

Lovely local pub, doggo friendly, nice little beer garden out back with a kid's play area, lots of good local walks nearby. Food looked good but didn't get the chance to try it this time.

We went to The Swan for Sunday lunch today and the food and service were brilliant. We loved the selection of sides our chicken came with. We particularly loved the cabbage with bacon! Generous portions or gravy and mash potato. Delicious cauliflower cheese! We also enjoyed our desserts and the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was lovely. We’ll be back, thank you.

We booked seven of us plus three dogs here for Sunday dinner, and could not have been made more welcome. We had our own little marquee in the garden so the dogs were out of the way, and the staff were incredibly responsive and attentive. The food was EXCEPTIONAL! The meat was locally sourced as, I assume, were most of the ingredients. Between us we had pork, beef, chicken and nut roast and all were cooked to perfection. The vegetables, the potatoes; all delicious. Special mention for the cauliflower cheese!! It was so good, we even took another meal home for a relative! Wonderful setting, wonderful staff and wonderful chef - Definitely will be back for more!

On July 12th our walking group was let down by another pub where we had arranged to eat after our walk. I phoned The Swan and they were more than happy to take 13 of us in at short notice! We were welcomed with friendly, efficient service, fine draft beer, and delicious food in the back garden. Everyone was very pleased with the whole experience. Thank you so much!

Food far to fancy for a lunch time stop , food was good but slightly more expensive than other local food outlets/ pubs don't think we will go again.

Our first time at The Swan, but won’t be our last. From the moment we arrived the friendly staff made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was that of a small country pub, but the food matched up to any 5 star restaurant. The food presentation was unique and tasted just as good as it looked. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, but without being over powering when looking after us.

We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Swan yesterday. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service excellent. We were a party of 16 so that can be challenging but they were in no way phased! I would highly recommend the Swan as it ticks all the boxes for a delicious Sunday roast and we will be there again soon!

Had a lovely carvery here on Sunday and it was lovely, the staff are very friendly and service prompt, only one criticism and that's the food could have been a little warmer but otherwise the meal was gorgeous.

I want to say thank you for a lovely Sunday lunch with my mum and dad. The food was excellent, the beef was so tender, and we were all able to have it cooked as we preferred, not offered at a lot of other places. Mum had the nut roast and is looking forward to the next time already, she thought it was so tasty. There was a good range of vegetables, too many for us to get through, but we really did give it a good try, well worth the money. We all loved the ambience of the restaurant, and then the pub side as well. We would say it had a wonderful feel of a local pub that is definitely a cut above most. The staff were very personable, attentive and efficient, and we sat having a good chat with some locals. Enjoyed it so much we will be bringing friends with us next time, thanks again, we would recommend to anyone.

Sunday lunch at The Swan was an absolute treat! We were a group of 5 girlfriends were given a warm welcome, fantastic service and the roast beef Sunday dinner was cooked to perfection - rare beef, crispy roasties, tasty cauli cheese, huge Yorkies , red cabbage, long stemmed broccoli, roasted carrots and parsnips and creamy mash. We finished off with a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Thank you for delicious food and first class service. We will most definitely be back!

We managed to get last minutes booking only two slots free. So glad we did. We went for Sunday lunch it was fabulous. Beef and lamb both cooked perfectly pink and no mushy vegetables. I'm always sceptical eating Sunday lunch out but this certainly didn't disappoint. Couldn't fault in any way other than would have liked steak knives nit picking i know. Nice touch at end of meal lucky dip, we won a free meal we'd already decided though that we'd be back

First ever visit for a Sunday lunch for three. Fantastic lunch, exactly like the picture. The most tender roast beef I have ever eaten. Very friendly staff and a great selection of drinks at the bar. We will definitely be returning.

Having passed The Swan many times, but never had the chance to go in, and having heard great things about the restaurant we decided to call in by chance with the family for tea, we were glad we did! We were warmly welcomed in, even though we hadn’t made a reservation. Having a couple of young children with us, they went out of their way to make up a child’s meal for us, we thought this was a nice touch. The food is fabulous, and the staff very friendly. We had the Korean Popcorn chicken and Fresh bread & oils for starters, the youngest children had a meal made up for her of popcorn chicken, minus the Korean sauce with skinny fries, a totally plain burger was made specially for my middle daughter with skinny fries, altering the meals for them wasn’t a problem. The eldest daughter had the full garnished burger and skinny fries, my wife had “pie of the Day” Chicken, leek and ham, with veg, mash & gravy, I think they do have a special pie day?!, i had a Bavette steak, with thick cut chips and a rocket & parmesan salad, I think i would go as far to say it may have been one of the best steaks I’ve tasted, cooked to perfection!, again I think they have a steak night also. We didn’t have dessert, the kids still had far too many easter eggs to go at. We did look at the selection, they had varied selection that looked great! - from Chocolate brownie & Ice cream to a cheese board. The pub looks like they have a large beer garden at the rear, we will definitely be returning, either as another nice meal, minus kids or as a watering stop while walking the dog.

What a charming and cosy restaurant ! There’s a free car park and live music some nights. The food is amazing, delicate and tasty. I cannot wait to return ! Starter was Beef Brisket croquettes (to die for!) Main was fish pie - so tasty !

This is a lovely village Pub on one side with a nice restaurant on the other. We just had a snack in the bar at lunchtime. Locals very welcoming and one move tables so the four of us could have a seat. Good locals like that always mean a great pub. Beer selection was good, landlord friendly. All in all a very good experience. We will be going back for a meal soon, now we have seen their menu.

The swan is a lovely village pub. We have been for Sunday Lunch on a few occasions and honestly I wouldn't recommend anywhere else. The food is beautifully cooked, and served in good time. You know it's good when everyone's plates are empty. Oliver is always very accommodating (my apologies for the mix ups previously) and all the wait staff are always friendly and really welcoming. Genuine, helpful, wholesome place, what more could you ask for. 🌟

I can't believe I've never been here before! We celebrated my mums 70th birthday here with a Sunday lunch. The food was so tasty, expertly cooked and plentiful with the opportunity to have some more if you wanted. the ambience was a delight, it was really busy and just had a lovely warm feeling about it. but let's talk about the staff.....they really make the place great. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome. Each member of the team took the time to chat to us, they genuinely could not do enough for us, so kind. Thanks for making our Mum's birthday so special, we'll definitely be back.

This was the first time we had visited as the reviews were so good. It did not disappoint. The Sunday lunch was delicious. The three of us ordered roast beef, which came on a large slate together with roast potatoes and large yorkshire puddings. All the vegetables came in separate dishes. There was more than enough for the three of us but you could order more if you wished. We really enjoyed it, and, unfortunately, we were too full to order a dessert. Maybe next time as we will definitely return. We also found the staff to be extremely friendly and very helpful. Thank you. xx

As always The Swan did not disappoint, fantastic food, great service & lovely atmosphere. I had the chicken for main which was extremely tasty & my friend the burger which I have also had before. This pub really is the hidden gem of South Derbyshire.

Very nice decor, friendly service and excellent food. The beetroot and goats cheese starter was delicious and the chicken supreme was wonderful. Deserts appear home-made and were super. This place deserves to succeed.

Lovely place, fantastic food and service. We had the steak and ale pie with fresh parsnips, carrots and mashed potato all of which were delicious. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. This was our first visit however we are looking forward to returning again soon.

We visited this establishment with high expectations. Whilst the decor was lovely the food and price not so. I ordered a pie and my husband ordered the fish pie. My steak and ale pie was ok but the rest was rather a disappointment. For the cost I’d expect more than just a pie, the smallest scoop of mash ever, and a few hard carrots. Let’s not forget the thimble sized gravy you get. As for my husbands fish pie it had potential but the fish in the middle was stone cold. And to top its off the hidden £7 service charge. Which we didn’t know was optional at the time but they don’t like to advertise that. Small piece of advice remove the service charge and allow people to tip what they feel is the correct amount.

I love this pub! I found it when visiting family and will often pop in with my partner and dog after a country walk when I'm in the area. We came here for Sunday lunch and the team managed to squeeze us in. From the moment we entered the pub the staff were so friendly and attentive. The pub was so cosy and had nice decor. Food was 10/10 we had the beef and chicken. The meat was superb and the sides were even better. We will definitely be back!

What a little gem of a place. The menu isn't extensive, but there's enough variety for all but the pickiest gourmands. The staff are fantastic, as is the food. Definitely a place to revisit sooner rather than later!

We booked on spec because we were staying at lodges nearby and WOW!! One of the best Sunday roasts we have ever had! Beautifully pink beef with scrummy sides and excellent customer service from friendly staff! We will be back!!

Fabulous Sunday lunch today (15 October). We both had roast beef, which was cooked perfectly (slightly pink), lovely selection of vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. Roast potatoes were amazing and there was mash as well. We eat out a lot and this was the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in years. The service was excellent, very friendly staff. We couldn’t fault a thing, 10/10. We will be back to try the evening menu next time.

Perfection! After a warm welcome from Oliver, we sat in the bar for an aperitif. When we moved into the attractive restaurant we found the the staff to helpful, friendly, accommodating and efficient. The new Autumn menu offered some inventive and tempting options. Our meal was plentiful and utterly delicious. We’d strongly recommend the ham hock terrine with pickled beetroot salad starter, the pan-fried salmon fillet with sautéed vegetables, jasmine rice and yellow Thai curry sauce, and the hand made pie, packed full of tender steak and encased in melt in the mouth pastry. New menu, and it’s got even better. A proper pub menu, all the things you would expect, and a few nice treats to showcase the face chef really can cook! Midweek dinner, 2 burgers and a salmon with some tempura vegetables. Burger had some real weight, superbly presented, good enough to photograph, 2 juicy patties, burger sauce, American cheese. Banging ! Salmon got a great review too, just look at it! Menu had pie, steak, veggie options, salad and burger. Well done again team !

Fabulous food and service,staff were so friendly and accommodating,food was exceptional, fresh ,tasty, and plentiful. Beautiful place. I will definitely be back .

Superb meal. Great tapas dishes. But the menu is due to change at the start of October 2023
